The request of the century? Clubs!

Alright, so... I had an inspiration that I would like to share with you, and see if you think it would be as great as I do.

I propose we add Clubs to the game.

As you know, the friendslist is a very clumsy instrument for organizing people. You can't start multiway conversations in chat. You don't have a differentiated friendslist. This might of course be added, but we already have the answer right in the game.

My proposal is as follows:

Allow people to register Clubs, much as one registers a Guild. The Club would cost a certain amount of gold to register. It would have a leader, and members. It could possibly have officers too, maybe not.

Every player is able to be a member of as many clubs as he chooses.

All Clubs get an own chat tab that is added to the chat bar. When you open the Club chat bar, you can choose to send to only one Club or to all. If you enable the Club bar you get transmissions from all Clubs you are a member of.

Clubs show up as "my clubs", under the guilds you are allied with in the guild roster of your alliance. By double clicking the Club you want, you open the Club window for that Club. This shows who are online etc, much like a Guild. Each Club also gets a Clubhouse, much like a Guild hall but more primitive.

Now, just what the bloody hell is the purpose of this?

Say you want to create a Club for doing, for example, Sorrow's Furnace in Hard Mode. Or a Club for Underworld farming. This allows you to invite people to your Club, and have a "differiated friends list" that at the same time becomes public to all members. Through Clubs you can meet over guild borders. You don't need to be members of the same Guild in order to have a convenient way of organizing play together.

What do you think?

So sort of like a public umbrella Guild? Actually, it sounds like a pretty good idea.

The only ungainly thing I see is your idea of how the chat tabs should work. If you joined more than say five clubs, along with the Guild, Trade, All, Alliance, etc. tabs, it would become quite a mess. However, I'm at a loss to come up with a better idea right now.

So it's basically like a second (third, fourth, etc) guild? I don't think that's really needed.

There would only be one chat tab for all the clubs you have joined.

GW is not = The Sims ..lol Clubs XD

What this game is missing from the start on is simple the feature to create "Private Chats"

Even Ragnarok Online had this lolz, but naturally GW not, there we must endure the spam and every ass can see, what we write...

When this game would receive something like "Club", it should when then fit to the game and make out of the model a wonderful RPG-Tavern.

But I see this only for GW2, when the game has hopefully then also housing and we will have in Towns ect. then also buildings, that we can enter and leave

/signed. It'd be easier to find stuff to do as a group if I could join multiple groups that were all specifically focused on one thing, instead of having a guild with a few interests here and there.

Edit: I was going to suggest that the function of the Alliance could be reworked into some form of this, but I realized that they're more like two different things.

Well... your guild does not always have exactly what you need. They can be just friends with you like to be a lot, o it would be nice to join also separate clubs for things you also like outside your guild:
- HA club.
- Farmer's lounge...
- Disguised Drunkards (DD)
- The Tyrian Guides
- Kind Helper Association
...

Or maybe just... without leaders at all. Just a mindless Standalone complex way:
- You set what you are in, and you can see what others are in based on what people set for themselves.

I've seen things like those in many 'community-like' sites and games.
It could really work, it consists basically in a list of comunnities people set, and you choose the ones you consider yourself in....
Let's see... good examples of this are IMVU and Lastfm.

You can also see something similar in the Wiki user pages:
- Category: Users that play Prophecies
- Category: Users in the European reagion
And so on.
You choose what you want others to know about you, and people can search for people matching certain categories and they could even see your caategories by seen your 'ID card' or something like that.

It would be a really great, relatively cheap idea to implement...
But I see it too late for integration in GW1.
Surely something to consider seriously for GW2.

Find those that are like you, find those you want to find. Se if someone fits something, declare yourself as part of something...

calling it clans fits more. Also, it's too late for it to happen in GW, but maybe GW2. I do like the idea. Also, don't set a limit to how many people can join and have a set amount of clubs that are meant for something, like when you make a club, you have to click checks to say what it is for.

example:

PvE
I.I Normal Mode
I.II Farming
I.II Missions
I.II Titles
II.I Hard Mode
II.II Farming
II.II Missions
II.II Titles
III.I Random Stuff
PvP
I.I RA
II.I TA
III.I HA
IV.I HB
V.I AB

maybe add more options, and, if there is a clan that has the exact settings, then you cannot make the clan, this way you can prevent millions of clans that do the same thing, which also means more socializing and better chance of others who do the same thing to be on.

As for the chat idea, maybe have it possible to toggle which clan you hear/talk to, or have a limit to how many clans *not one* and different colors for each clan talk, only problem with the later is that there will be TONS of talking all the time.

While I like your idea of organization, I can't quite agree with the bolded part. It seems like if a specific club was created for certain criteria first, the leaders of that club would have too much influence over the rest of the organization. I do understand what you're saying, but the members' participation should be a matter that the club leader deals with, not something that's set by default.

Ugh...
That is really all I have to say.

I generally use Ventrilo and get the people I need to multichat with there.

So, basically, let us join multiple guilds at once? Just use Ventrilo.

Not everybody has a mic, not everybody has Ventrillo, and the feature would be more appreciated and used by players if it were established in-game.

Vent is free and you don't have to have a mic to be a part of the discussion.
/notsigned we already have guilds filled with people that have similar interests. If you're not in a guild like that, go find a new one.

Sounds idiotic for A.Net to put in the game.
