What's in it for them? (allying with Kurzick/Luxon)

I am a relatively new player (2-3 months), but I am a pretty well versed gamer in general. My guild is currently made up of RL friends and thier family members (most are casual gamers, me being the notable exception).

Being the more hard core player in my guild, I have started working on stuff more advanced than the rest of them.

That all being said, I'm trying to farm Kurzick faction through HFF. I am mainly doing it for the PvE skills. My guild has not declared a side, and I would like them to choose Kurzick to make my grind easier (donating points vs purchasing amber chunks, etc).

So, the question raised is, what's in it for them? How do they benefit by choosing a side? Noone in the guild (besides myself) has gotten too far in Factions, and in order to get them caught up, it will take at least 5-10 quests/missions.

I have looked around for the info myself, but the only thing I can come up with is you get all the NPCs you look for in a town at one convenient location (guild hall). Someone mentioned to me that there is some kind of a discount on items from said vendors as well, but I'm not sure if that was accurate.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

There really is no benefit per say from choosing one side. If you want to sell in town, make sure to have more faction of the side you currently sit on the map to do so.

The merchant discount only happens if you have enough faction donated in order to own a town. And trust me, if you are the only person farming faction in your guild, this will never happen, as you have alliances of 7-8 guilds all farming it. Only real benefit of owning a town is the discounted lockpicks, but you can go into just about any major city and buy them cheaper than the merchant. (People who own towns buy them in bulk and sell them to players for a small profit, mb 50g per pick, but that can add up.)

yup, there is no benefit with any side.

It's only for the AB what I know, Kurzicks fight for the kurzicks vs the Luxon, and the other way around.

Well, that's unfortunate.

Thanks for the responses anyway!

yeah not much benefit----though in order to get the armor and such from one side you have to have more faction for that side---but you can change as often as you like....
now I am just doing one side so I can get all the skills since I already got to level one of supporter.

There's no benefit, but there's no bad side either. And it costs nothing, so why not?

Yah mainly for whichever side you favor more, most people like kurzick because of their nice 15k armors.

Just ignore the morons with Suxons or Kurdicks some people have no lives and tend to be crazy -.-

kurzick is the more popular side with the better armour so kurz is the way to go!

If people want to Alliance Battle, then Kurzick/Luxon side will matter to them. Also, if they want to join an alliance (for reasons such as holding a town, being part of a bigger network of people that can help with doing missions etc), then Kurzick/Luxon side will matter to them.

If they want to play Fort Aspenwood, then the guild's allegiance doesn't matter; the players can go any side there.

Changing allegiance only costs 500 gold (and loss of Kurzick/Luxon faction that the guild has accumulated), and can be done any time of day.

I was Luxon at first and went Kurzick because it was my opinion that Kurzick guilds were more skilled than Luxon guilds in AB overall. Then again, thinking back on it, it probably doesn't matter, because the really skilled guilds likely dont AB.
