Silverlight.....<----Microsofts new toy

What is silverlight?
Humm, it's probably the next big thing for .net framework websites.
I was wondering how we could apply this to GW2/GW1?
Maybe someone out there, will listen too me, could let Anet know that there is a potential to combine there GW2/GW1 websites with the GW2/GW1 Wiki.
Basicly turn the guild wars 1/GW2 site into an all in one resource for Guild Wars.
Thus eliminating the need for guru, and wiki.
It could have auctions, info, wiki, and fourms ALL IN ONE!
I'm saying that there could be COMPLETE integration, if you won a bid on the website the other palyer is imediatly emailed and notified in game.
A ranking system on good buyers/sellers could MEAN something, lol.
Sounds bad?
I don't think so.
Consider the potential to this, what if Anet made this new style of website for GW2 and integrated the website into the game and allowed players to have seamless interaction with the fourms and finding what they need FAST!
It would be easier to get the info to the player, and intrest people in the game.
OK, so whats the cost?
Probably too much.
So, my question too the players of the future, GW2, is would you be willing to pay a fee to use a service like this?
Like a premium account.
I would.
AND before people ASK, YES I tried the development software and studio software. It IS possible.

Silverlight is a more efficient substitution for Flash in Web Browsers. No video game use whatsoever.
(Not EVERYTHING IN THE UNVERSE is potentially related to Guild Wars.)

But I do know some people and it IS POSSIBLE.
(Keyword: IS)
Note to alliance:
I'm going afk to check my auctions.
I know I'm your last monk on the team, but money is more important.
GL at winning FoW on HM with just a Tank and Bonder.
I'm sure some more people get these moments in HA, FoW, UW, Duncan, and the unyielding.

You can already browse websites in CS:S on the servers' MOTD. It is a bit limited but feasible, I do not understand why you are so excited about it.
As Zinger pointed out, Silverlight is just a new flash player from a rival company, how you got it into your mind that it could be, or should be, linked to games is beyond me.

I installed it, it didn't change anything.. if it was supposed to o.O

Gah, I still keep thinking about that blasted sword from Runescape.
That aside, why doesn't the official site have a forum or auctions and the like?
Bandwidth problems or they just love and trust our community to do that job (and they don't have to pay a penny for that)?
I think it'll take a long time (or never) before they start doing these kind of things themselves. It looks handy though.

You'd better ask Anet to introduce in GW2 support for standard solutions, such as Web Services or other XML niceties. Silverlight being an MS proposal, it's not a smart move to jump in.

I'm just TRYING to say, that theres potential.
No one else seems too see it.

The worlds of the nets not as limited as it seems, trust me. We can always improve on it. Until of course the atomic possibilities have been established.
lol
Atomic physics anyone?
( I think not)

You wouldn't want your idea ruined because of, for example, licensing or Silverlight becoming tiered (you pay for the best content). Neither would people want of a "MS Internet" where you'd have to use their stuff, or be exclused. Strip your idea from all proprietary aspects and you'll have a nice proposal here. A Web2.0 interface to GW2 if you will.
viper11025
Ok, lol.
You do know silverlight can be run on a server for a very low cost.
Just depends on size and bandwith required.
I don't think it would kill anet to consider the idea.

Hey, when you add videos to games you think in Rad Game Tools and their video tools Blink and Smacker.
Not flash or silverlight. That's for websites.
Yeah, silverlight, like flash can be enbedded into other applications. But why?
There's no need to.
And if you plan about adding something like an ingame wiki, just an internal webbrowser would do.

Silverlight is just Microsoft's clumsy attempt at unseating Flash. It's years too late, too underdeveloped, has poor market penetration among both users and developers and, frankly, the damn thing doesn't even work half the time. And it's going to fail just like ActiveX did anyway.
There's nothing special in Silverlight that couldn't already be done, and done better and more easily, with the Flash client most of the web already has and a Flash Media Server. The only benefit I've ever managed to dig out of that platform is that .NET developers who aren't used to scripting can switch to it easily.
Furthermore, most of your suggestions could be done much more cheaply and with a smaller footprint with AJAX and a backend scripting language.

Oh, that's Silverlight.
I thought you were talking about that one weapon from runescape.
How the hell did I remember that...
