Hide PvE skills in skill window while in Balthazar islands .2nd edition.
ManiSan
I thougt my previous post was very explicit.
Looks like it wasnt for all...
SO.
When im doing RA, HoH, i often, as you can imagine, open the skill window to design a new bar.
Then, ive to scroll up and down, because i can see (many) useless "sunspear skill track", "norn skill track", etc...
Thats not ergonomic.
My suggestion is pretty simple : make the skill window context sensitive.
If ( player_location = balthazar_islands )
{ display_PvE_skill_tracks = OFF ; }
A better solution : a button, to toggle PvE_skill_tracks to OFF or ON (will be used in guild halls)
ps: dont close threads that are actually CONSTRUCTIVE just because you dont understand the OP.

WHY? the pve skills are at the BOTTOM so you only need to go through them if you're looking for a no attrib one
you can MINIMIZE the lists
jesus christ stop being so lazy

Agreed with Kyrein. This suggestion is in no way useful imo. Nor worth Anets time
ManiSan
Christ ! Hopefully you aren't a software designer, or we would just be under MS-DOS 5. Open your eyes, and plz, find someone else to conflict with.
This suggestion is for Anet. What can i mind about what YOU think ?
/closethread
Yes, there is nothing to add i think.
Feel free to post if you have other interface improvements... If you dont/are against... press "previous page" on your browser.

Darkobra
Well considering they're working on a whole new game and there are already interface options to minimise the potentially long lists, I don't think they'll care about your suggestion any more than we do.
There are also PVP characters which can be suited for PVP far faster and none of the hassles of having to scroll down 3 inches.

click the - at the PvE skills and they're gone
seriously kid you're just way too lazy
just so you can save a few seconds of making your build you have to make a new thread how stupid is that
/notsigned and /closethread
just for a few inches extra scrolling ffs....
constructive...
changing scripts so you don't have to scroll a few extra inches isn't quite what people would call constructive, only pure lazyness

On topic: Totally useless idea.

Oh sure, 'cause I'm just dying to lose the ability to test PvE Skill-using builds at the Master of Damage.

Im.. dazed.
You all, obviously, arent software designers.

Yes. You got the point. Its all about a few secs, many times a day, by a million users. Thats how Microsoft and other big companies succeed : make their consumers save seconds.
And now, if you think that GW2 will be "completly new", you cant imagine how wrong you are. Making reusable software components is all i learned during my studies... Thats absolutly NOT a waste of time for Anet, since the windows will be reskinned for GW2. Behind the skin, guess what ? Same components, yes.
However, I know that those changes will probably never happend, for a simple reason : there is a very very small upgrade that could be done for the Priest of Balthazar. Indeed, hes used at 99.999% to see skills of other classes, and the skill pannel isnt the one by default. /incredibly failed. Seriously.
So.. im totally disappointed by most response, to a GOOD IDEA (whether its too much work for Anet or not isnt of your ressort), and much posts here are.. hem, not constructive.
Is this comment constructive ? And others ? No. "dont be lazy, deal with design flaws, blabla" Is not either. Only Darkobra post have some interest.
Bleh. This idea is good, its obvious for me, and i know that most ppl that have my respect will think the same. And Anet is prone to think that too, with just a slight adjustement :" how much it will cost to add this feature ?".

Skyy High
How much will it cost? Way too much, considering the option is already there for you to hide the lists.
Furthermore, people DO use those skills in the Temple of Balthazar, to go out to the Master of Damage and test them. Auto-shutting them off in the PvP areas will make that impossible, and a toggle to turn on and off PvE skills is exactly the same as clicking the "minimize" button on top of the title tracks.
End result: useless suggestion. You can't automate it, because there is a real reason to have those skills available, and any other toggles are just different forms of the system we already have, and won't save any time.

Ok, i take note of this.
A button to "hide" all PvE related skills (and tracks !) would be perfect then.
Thats not a lot of work, really. Its just a tab, like xunlai chest.

I'm really surprised by the amount of flaming this post is getting.
It is actually a very logical suggestion to free up the cluttered skill interface (and PvE skills are NOT at the bottom, no attribute ones are, so they are mixed together). This is not a troll based comment. Its actually something very simple and could be helpful to people who *gasp* design there own builds rather then just copy something off wiki.

On topic: When i am working on a new skill bar I am in the peace and solitude of my guild hall. If I'm working on a PvP build I just ignore (or minimize) the PvE skills. Simple, even for you software designers.
My initial criticism of your post is the statement

I understand your request but remind you that many PvE players sit in their guild hall while setting up their skill bar. A lot of guild/alliance groups going to the elite areas (UW, FoW, Urgoz, Deep, etc) will meet in the guild hall to form and then map from there (party leader was last in that location). While it would be nice to have them removed so if you are going into a PvP area it will not be locked later, but it is a huge annoyance to someone that is either just putting builds together or is setting up for a PvE area.

seriously, nobody cares about some kid whining that he has to scroll down a few seconds because IT IS SUCH AN INSIGNIFICANT LITTLE THING.

Academy Page makes a fail suggestion and goes waaah waaah waaah!!! when told to gtfo.
Epic. And welcome to guild wars guru. You're not going to like it here if you keep posting fail ideas like this one.
Try using the following two features - save to template, and load template. It couldnt get any easier.

Ignoring the lulz generated by op...
So you're saying I shouldn't be allowed to work on my pve builds while hanging out in HA ID 1 and talking to friends?
The guild hall is a PvP area - lets lock out people's skills there too.
On second thought, looking through all the skills I have is tiresome. Anet should hide everything but Ursan, then we'll all be good players.

I'll give you something better:
"GUI Improvement: A second skill sorting button and more sorting options":
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10185527
With that suggestion, you'll be able to sort out PvE skills, collapse their section, and sort again the rest like now.

wow people are freaking out over this simple suggestion???? Even auto-minimizing the pve skill tabs would be nice.... At the very least place them Under the nonlinked skills.

Auto-minimizing PvE only skills would be fine, but it doesn't bug me at all I have to scroll a little.

Not just PvE skills should be hidden, but all locked skills, in case you don't have all campaigns. Why bother showing skills you can't use?
Tyla
I'm not really bothered.
But taking them out of the bar = no testing on the Master of Damage.
Auto-minimize, maybe, but I don't use PvE skills much anymore.

What a dumb thread. 2nd edition.
Recreating a locked thread is just asking to get it closed again.

Put all PvE skills into 1 category named 'PvE Only Skills'.
If you get all skills, the list might be quite long. In that case, just use the scrollbar.
