Do corpses drop loot when they disappear?

This is probably a rather silly question, but it's something I've been noticing for a while now.

Whenever I kill a group, I always look around to make sure I've picked up everything, possibly to the point of obbsessivness, then continue on to the next group. However, when I'm doing a quest where I have to backtrack for whatever reason, it seems like I always go back and find something I missed.

So I'm just wondering, do corpses drop loot when they disappear? I'm sorry if this is already answered on one of the wiki's, but I looked at both and couldn't find any mention either way. For the past two years I assumed the corpses didn't, but, again, it seems like whenever I have to back track I end up finding an item.

I do. I spin the camera around, check where the corpses fell, do all the stuff.

It's just a simple question I was asking, nothing more.

Thank you Rampager.

";" selects the closest selectable object to you. That is, press ";" and it will select the closest piece of loot, sign, or treasure chest.

I miss all sorts of stuff with alt+whirling the camera around. I rarely miss anything by pressing ;

Loot from other people in your group becomes available after 10 minutes.

Lag may also be responsible for this

I have many instances where the drop did not show up right away and others where the drop occurred before death.

You can also use "'" (the key to the right of ";") to scroll through all objects, starting with the closest one. That way you can skip over the signs and find the next loot.

Now that's something I hadn't thought of before, thank you all for your input.

I never really thought corpses dropped stuff, but boy it certainly was quite a coincidence.

yeah I miss things as well, but I usually use the ; key to make sure (though if there is a chest nearby it messes that up).....and lag is funny---sometimes I watch the enemy drop coins before they die, or olias makes a minion of them before they have dropped to the ground.

Or a mob came up from behind and attacked another mob while you weren't looking. It happens.

And yeah, use the target closest object key to find and pick up objects. I only hold alt and spin around when a chest is nearby and interferes.

i set my "Target Closest Item" to Z
it's right under WASD, so it's easy for me to just push it after every mob
and keep your eye on the chat box as it shows the drops (except money)

You can bind a key to Targeting: Item - Next in Control Options. That key will cycle through all your items.
