I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw a level 6 character in Ring of Fire. After all, I don't even leave the tutorial until a character is level 8. Now I'm getting used to the shock of seeing babes in dangerous places, and it even seems like an interesting challenge...how far could you take a level 1?
Last night a level 5 Necro joined my IDS group in Granite Citadel. He seemed like a nice guy and we let him come along, realizing he would be no help at all. He was able to show us the correct path and had obviously been there before.
Hats off to those who make it to the end of the game still in diapers. What's the lowest rank you have seen?

One of our Guild made it to Emberlightcamp with level 2. But you don't have to ascend to get there. The lowest level I ascended with was lv.13, but I guess you can do it with an even lower lv.

You only HAVE to get ~1,500 exp to get to the Fire Islands..Thats the few Pre-searing missions you have to do to go to post-searing, and THK's 1000 pt reward. You never even have to SEE the desert to get there.
So lvl2 is quite possible.

The lowest level I ascended with was 12, as a R/W. I got to the Crystal Desert as a level 2, though. =D

lowest level i have seen at ELC was 2. I saw a level 1 at port slead once but he got ran there by his guild. My guildie ascended at level 9 once...

For ember light camp. Get run from ascalon city --> beacon perch --> drok --> coopermine --> ironmine --> thunderhead keep --> ember light camp. You get 1000exp from thunderhead keep mission.
Needless to say, you need a guildie/friend to complete missions for you. Either that or pay a lot of $$ to pay someone to let you leech.

A guy in our guild did it, but he had so many high level toons he did this one as a challenge, he even had level one (his intent) as part of his name.
He did it by being careful to do only the minimal necessary to sear, and always being dead so he did not receive any XP.

I've been having fun trying the ascention trials with my lvl 8 (now 9) elementalist and henchies. First I wandered around and got the collector armor. Elona wan't too bad once I realized that I had to do the tanking and let the henchies do the damage. I tried Dunes once but the elementalists spiked me before I got my armor up. Thirsty's going to be a bit rough!

You could be in the Ring of Fire at lvl 1.
Go through Pre-Searing, that's 750xp. Do the skill quest outside Ascalon City, get a second proffession (500xp) and go through the acadamy. Unless your team kills enemies in the PVP Arena, you'll have 750xp when you get to Post-Searing.
Then get a run from Ascalon all the way to Thunderhead Keep (expensive!) and then get through the mission, that's another 1000xp. Then get a run from Ember Light Camp to the Ring of Fire, and voila!
Ascention at lvl 3 is also possible. Again, 750xp from Pre-Searing. Get a run to Sanctum Cay. Get through the mission, that's 1000xp, get through all the 3 ascention mission (3000xp) and ascend. That's a total of 4750xp. Then you can ascend (it's hard though..) and get another 50000xp, for a total of 54750xp, and that's lvl 11. Watch out though, if you really want to make it at lvl 11, don't get more then 250xp from anything else, since 55000xp is lvl 12

I fail to see the point. Having anything less than 20 in areas meant for level 20's means you are useless. You don't have enough skill points, skills, or armor level (except for Droknar's runners...*cough*), not to mention attribute points.

I'd really like to see a lvl 3 ascended player. Possible in theory but I'd find it hard to imagine a lvl 3 can beat his dopple and not get bonus.

You didn't ascend at lvl 4 then my friend. You got the bonus, which put you a few levels ahead. You may have beaten your dopple but once you hit Dragons Lair, you were no longer level 4.
Far as I know you can't get to Dragons Lair without beating your dopple, at least I've never cared enough for the mission to run there. So that would be the test, whats the lowest level you've seen there?

i ascended at lvl 10 and it took me to lvl 16. then i went and got my full fow armor at lvl 17 with my necro. too easy, just equip sac skills and its over

I think, with that previous change, there's no way ANet will make it so that you -have- to be 20 to ascend. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Since no replies to my post, which upsets me more than you can imagine, what is the lowest level character you've seen in Dragon's Lair? This is after all about ascending and not getting to RoF. And anyone with money can buy runs to RoF, but I'm willing to bet that most people can't make a build to beat thier dopple at level 5 or below WITHOUT getting the bonus.

as for making it possible for only lvl 20's to ascend, i think thats unfair. yeah, its silly for lvl 1's to be there, and if the "requirement" were lvl 15 and not 20 id go for it, but at that point in the game, you should naturally be around lvl 18 (somewhere close to it). i dont think anyone should ever be forced to farm exp to meet a requirement. between 2 accounts, i have 7 level 20 characters (3 or 4 SERIOUSLY close to having done everything aside from UW and FoW quests). many times ive been lvl 16 to 19 in the desert missions and have had lots of trouble getting into groups because i wasnt "uber" enough. when in truth, an experienced lvl 16 can be much better than a lvl 20 who doesnt know what he/she is doing.
i guess its natural to assume a lvl 20 is better to have in a group, but from my experience, most times you see a lower lvl character in a place they probably shouldnt be, that person is probably a decent player.

i do not think it is possible to be lvl 10 at dragons--lowest ascension i have seen is lvl 3 (lulu)

After completing the game with two characters, I ascended my 3rd (Ele/Mes) at lvl 11. I realized then that the doppleganger "mirror self" was not really a mirror, but actually lvl 20 always. It was tough as nails though with that combination against a higher level. I eventually did it (empathy, backfire, mantra of something - to speed up recharge, and the 8 second armour) without even attacking him once. I did notice he shoots through walls though as you're running :-). I got her to warcamp at like level 4 or 5 (maybe earlier), took henchies, and leveled her up a bit there. After ascending I did the class paths, got a lizard, and level her to 20 and lizard to 12 at the footprint..
At this point I dont care about the missions anymore. I just wanted her to ascend so she can go into UW/FoW if I want her to. My lvl 8 Mes/R (with a Stalker) is still in pre and will stay there :-)

I was supprised when I signed on for the THK, and we ended up with a lvl 15 monk whoi has not ascened and claimed the it was thier first toon. Now I'm not bashing them monk, they did a good job, but missed out on half the story.
