problem ??

i have had this occur twice on me before...
basically i open guild wars and it DOES download whatever patch there is.
but when i get to the login screen, the messages on the right (Players: protect your account; whatever the weekend event is). don't appear. so im like ok w/e.
then when i type my user and pass word in to log in i press enter and it says "Connecting" till i press cancel (over 3 minutes i haven't tried any longer). so what i end up doing (cuz im super addicted ) is uninstalling it then reinstalling it which only takes 10 or so minutes i believe. but the next part is a pain, i use my nightfall disks since there the most recent. and i have to download every single patch that came out between now and the release of nightfall. and as if that wasn't worse enough i takes 2-5 minutes to load every area i haven't been to since re-installation. i run a very fast computer which normally takes no longer than 5 seconds to load any area i haven't been to yet.

am i doing something wrong?

and Btw i did try the the guild wars client on the web site. it gives me the same problem and i don't thing kits been updated since the release of nightfall either .
could anyone shine some light on this for me? it also appears to never happen to my friends just me.
the next time it happens ill get a screenie i don't have one right now

I know what you're talking about, that is because it's not getting any connection.

Sounds like an internet problem and not a computer/install problem.

E.G Your firewall isn't configured right, your virus scanner is blocking something, or your router/modem has something up with it. Could even be your ISP.

i have had plenty of connection problems and this isnt 1

i can start the game and get to the logins screen

when i have no connection i cant even start the game. it just stay at the "patch" checking point

it IS a connection problem----I get that from time to time...the log in screen doesnt have the extra crud on the side and after typing in my password I get the connecting (this is a hint that it is NOT your computer since you were able to open gw and get to the server)....I usually just wait for it to either kick me or connect...and then if I get kicked its usually an error 5 or 7 ....so I wait a few minutes and then it lets me back in.

Disable your firewall.

Also, are you on a home network or college? What security software do you use, if any.

i dont use a firewall thats what has me confused.
but ill try what cosyfiep did.
