OMFG Is There Anything I Can Do About This? (I Got Scammed)

So I was selling a fellblade in Kamadan & this guy comes over to me & offers me the amount I was looking for, but when I clicked accept it said something along the lines of "the trade was cancelled". He then said "maybe it's the trade bug or something". So I suggested that we try & trade outside Kamadan in an explorable area.

We got outside and still the same problem occured. He then dropped an Elite Paragon Tome & trade with me thinking maybe his inventory was full or something, yet the same thing happened and he said "it's not my inventory, hmm". Thinking nothing of it I said to him "I can drop the fellblade, and you drop the cash?". So he agrees & I drop the fellblade thinking "he can't scam me because he's all the way over there, if he decides to run & grab it I'll just pick it back up again".

The second I dropped the fellblade, he just teleports to me & picks up the Fellblade then goes "hahahaha never drop anything outside noob" and zones. Then just puts me on his ignore list.

Fair enough, it was only 35k, but it's still annoying as hell. I just wanted to put my fist through the wall as soon as he did it, because I knew for certain he wasn't gonna give it back, and I know he's just gonna get away with it completely.

Is there ANYTHING I can do about this at all? I don't understand how people can do this to others & not think that anything will come back to bite them in the future. I believe in Karma 100% and I could NEVER do this to anybody, because I'd feel that something like this would happen to me in the future. Even if you don't believe in Karma, I don't get how people can just do this so easily without even giving a crap about how the other person is gonna feel about it.

I doubt anything can be done and another little sh*t is gonna get away with this once again.

Oh, hell, you fell for the "trade bug" trick. Ouch. I'm not really sure that there's much you can do. You could make a report, but I'm not entirely certain how useful that'd be, especially since, as you say, you've not got a screenie of him teleporting to you.

first off its a known rule by most everyone to never ever drop anything outside when someone looking to buy asks you no matter what he is saying. It usually ends up being someone looking to scam you, and this guy actually found someone that would agree to it. Second I do not really thing there is anything you can do unless you report it with all the screen shots,but than again you still dropped the item outside making it free to anyone I personally think.

some1 tryed that on me but ig ot him,i made sure of it because i wached him. anyways,my idem was worth over 100k and i made sure of it that i wasent getting scamed,sorry about your loss man. dont think there is anything u can do about it

There is nothing we could do for you. I wouldn't even bother sending a report in since you don't have the actual proof he teleported.

You would be correct.

Nothing you can do except remove the names from the pic and learn from your mistake. There's only 5 reasons a trade won't go through:

1. Not enough room in your inventory
2. Not enough room in other party's invnetory
3. You've got too much gold on you.
4. The other party's got too much gold
5. Someone clicks on the "cancel" button.

Why does this type of thread always turn into a flame fest against the OP? I asked if there was anything I could do about it, I didn't expect people to be all like "rofl n00b, you g0t pwntz0r'd, its j00r fault haha lawlz". I know it's my fault, I never said it wasn't. Who's fault would it be? it wouldn't be your fault would it, it's obviously mine.

We were like 20 paces apart, I didn't expect him to teleport to me, especially considering he was a Necro. How many people actually look at the person's 2nd profession that they're trading with? It's just not relevant to the trade, so it's ignored by most.

I'm sure there probably can be a "trade bug" under some obscure circumstances, but dropping the item ain't gonna cure it.

No it wouldn't cure the trade bug, but it'd allow people to trade things... One person drops the cash, the other drops the item. Then on the count of 3 they move to the other person's cash/item & there you go, trade done. Although there's not a lot fo trustworthy people left in the world.

Yes, you could do that - and I`ve done that with Guildies or people I trust.

Look on the bright side:

1. - It`s only game gold - play money - you lost nothing really (except maybe, your innocence.)

2. - It`s a learning experience. Now your sense of naive trust will be tempered with a bit of reality.

Also don't always assume these people are scammers. Was selling a Tormented Sword and the person kept canceling. Was about ready to call them a scammer, then I relized I had gold on me.

I already lost the fellblade, and I was just checking to see whether there was anything I could do about it or not. Now I realise there isn't, so I'm just gonna leave it at that.

I don't understand why people have to come into the thread to start a problem for no reason & then complain when I respond to their post. If you don't like my response to your posts, then don't post a negative comment in the first place. I'm not just gonna sit back & take it. (Not directed at you by the way).

If it makes you feel better, I had the same thing happen to me once. I noticed the other character was a Warrior, so I thought, "why not?" Idiot me, I didn't notice Assassin as his secondary prof. So anyways, I learned my lesson the hard way. :s

(about the only thing you can do is if you ever see that person in trade chat you can proclaim loud and long to everyone else that he/she is a scammer and not to trade with them..... at least it will make you feel a little better.)

Also, with the release of GWEN there's an Ebon Vanguard skill that acts as a teleport (I believe, it's been mentioned, I'll find it).

So yeah, no going outside with strangers. Their candy is the bad type.

I always salvaged them for the mods, if they survive the salvaging, I dumped it at the merchant....

always trade in town and in town only, maybe he got full inventory, maybe u got full in cash, but what any good is “let’s trade outside” gonna do. It’s ok to go outside and show the skin, but deal back in town once he saw the item.
If some1 ask u “I never seen the skin, can I try it with my armor see how it goes? U can hold my FOW armor, and I will buy it if I like it” or some like that. When that happens, fxxk him and kick him, don’t give a damn about FOW armor cause u cannot wear it, u cannot salvage ecto out of it, and the armor itself sucks.
Always check before u hit accept, especially when other person changed stuff in trade window. The other day a person was buying black dye in kamadan for 7k, I put up black dye and he put up 7k gold, then he says he’s inventory was full and will give me few hide for free, after he changed, there was few hide and 1k gold, and he cancel the trade and left after I said “ thought so, u little piece of shit”

Report them to support, but nothing can be done about your lost money or items. Be more careful next time
