How do you price stacks of materials?

Hi, I'm a little of a newbie so I'm wondering how do people determine how much to sell/buy stacks of common materials?
I've seen one person selling at (material trader buying price + material trader selling price)/2. (so for example a stack of bones would be about 1.5k-1.75k because the trader offers about 10g and 3g, buying and selling, respectively) But sometimes people ask to buy for much lower than this formula, sometimes so low such that it would actually be a drain of money to salvage.
Anyways, all you pro's out there, what's the accepted pricing etiquette for stacks of common materials?
Thanks a bunch!

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

When I buy or sell materials I give a number somewhere half way between the trader's buy and sell price. In other words, the buy price+sell price/2, as you said.

I don't always calculate it exactly, I just take a stab in the dark because as long as the price is somewhere in between the buy and sell values, it's a better deal for both parties.

I'd say...Look @ what price the trader sells it.. For example 200g for 10
sell it for 150g-100g each 10( This is @ bones etc, Rare materials are usually ~500g less..depends on the material).

(material trader buying price + material trader selling price)/2 is fair. I wouldn't sell any lower than that, really, unless it's to make a more convenient number (ie, round down to the nearest hundred or something). Just set your target and ignore the beggars trying to get it extra-cheap.

The trader's buy and sell prices determine the bargaining range. Market conditions have a lot to do with determining where in that range the price falls.

Ectos have traded near the bottom of the bargaining range for a while. There are tons of ectos out there, and a lot more prospective sellers at an "overpriced" buy request than there are players wanting to buy ectos at any price.

Similarly, crafting materials that are easy to get and therefore relatively low in demand will tend to trade at the bottom of the range. You're going to have a hard time getting 60 for 10 bones, because regular play will provide quite a few salvage opportunities. Even though they are used for consumables, few players want to buy them, so the trades take place at the bottom of the range.

By contrast, you pretty much have to go farm feathers to get them at all, so they trade at the top of the range due to a lack of sellers.

I didn't know people still trade that. I remember materials being traded in Drok's, and for some time in Kaineng, but haven't seen common materials sold for a long time.
