Heroes in Factions?

I have all the expansions except for Eye of the North and I was never able to figure out how people got to use heroes on their Factions characters. Do you have to beat Nightfall first or what?

from Consulate Docks u can get quests for 2 heroes: Olias a necromancer from lions arch(proph) and Zenmai an assassin from KC (factions). If u take your Factions or Prophecies character to kamaden u can get quests that get you the heros everyone else in NF gets but they will be a low level but u can still get them. you can transfer your factions character over to nightfall and get your heroes that way.
you can create any character in any campaign (with the exception of campaign specific professions) and transfer them over to any other campaign.

No, you don't have to beat Nightfall first.
As a Nightfall character, you will collect the heroes as you play through the missions. As a character from the other campaigns, you enter the Nightfall campaign further in, so you will get a set of Lv15 heroes to start you off; Koss, Dunkoro, Melonni, and Tahlkora.
If you take another quest, you will get a Lv 11 Acolyte Jin, or Souseke (Quest called Zaishen Elite). After that, you will basically be getting the other heroes at the same rate as other Nightfall-based characters.
As a bonus, once you get to the Consulate Docks (which is only 2-3 missions down after you come into Nightfall), you can the quests 'All for One and One for Justice' (if you have Prophesies) so you can get Olias, and 'Chasing Zenmai' (if you have Factions) so you can get Zenmai.

Kamadan is the main port city in Elona.
To get there, you will need to have Nightfall on your game account. If you are a Factions character, travel to Kaineng Center on the Canthan mainland and take the quest "Sunspears in Cantha" from Imperial Guardsman Linro. Completing this quest will enable that character to cross between Kaineng Center and Kamadan (and back again) any time by using the ship icon on your overworld map.
To get there, you will need to have Nightfall on your game account.
