If GW went Open Source...

If, after a few years of GW2 being out, GW became open source (with ArenaNet still hosting the servers and accepting patches to the original game if people agreed on them), what would you change? Would you create new missions? Would you work together on mods? Would you change skills? Would you build an entire new game based on the GW engine? The possibilities are endless...

I'd want to:

-Create an OpenGL version
-Add the Xunlai Market
-Get rid of the limit on minions in PvE only

(For anyone not in the know, Open Source means that everyone has access to the source code and core of the game code, and they can freely take it, modify it and share it. The only catch is that they have to release their changes for everyone to get (so they can't just make money from ArenaNet's work)

i would love to create a super hard new area, but all the monsters are level 20. I would give them sweet builds to make it hard, and all the weapons would have rare skins.

Are you going to program new AI with your new super hard area? Because without it, there's really nothing a "sweet" build will do to make PvE harder, beyond a certain point. That point is pretty much the Charr.

finished the god realms. make ecto's a static price.
introduce the ability to share armor.
give the ability to disable lootscaling but only in normal mode.
introduce a xunlai marketplace sort of place.
make the merchant give decent money for good items.
add a inscribtions+upgrade merchant.
giving back the dye remover and the old black dye.
give people another area like sorrow's furnace, but only harder, bigger and with many more bosses/enemies.
adding more elite skills and bosses with better greens, wich actual unique stats that you cannot replicate.

hmm.... thats all i can think off right now

idk, facing bloodspike in pve would be pretty wierd!!!

and all you need to do is add monks to enemy parties (monks with good builds) and the mobs are much harder already.

but yes, a reprogramed ai would certainly help.

Raise the levels in game to make it better, such as 60+.

I would quit, because the minute you turn a game into open source, the cheats and hacks come out in full force, because now these programmers who make the spam bots, cheats, etc. can read the code for each update, and code a new more effective bot/spammer each time. Hell, it would even get the the point where they could prob manipulate the code so even if you set yourself to Do not Disturb, you could still be PM'd to go buy their gold.

It would become Open Battle.Net like Diablo 2 was. That was a waste of time. God Mode always becomes boring.

Not if Anet were still in charge - they could approve each patch/addition to the game.

and the botters can still look at the code, since it's open source.

personally if that happens, i'll go and play GW2.

Nothing.

I have no idea how to code, and have no interest in learning it either.
