Has anyone noticed that prices for normal tomes seems to be falling? Not all that long ago, it seemed the standard price was 500-700g and now people are unwilling to pay more than 350-400g for them...
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?
Normal Tome Prices Falling?

Tomes for W, R and A have been at 200-400g each for a long time now.
All Caster Tomes still sell pretty good, Rit and Monk and Ele Tomes are at 700-1k each from what I've seen. Some even pay more than that.
Of course there are always people who only want to pay 200g-300g for a Caster Tome, but they would either have to get really lucky on a seller, or have to wait hours/days until they get them.
Whenever I see Caster Tomes being sold for 200-350g each I buy them immediately, unless I already have enough of them.

K
your right,tome prices are depreciating
but, technically they are priced wrongly anyway
the purpose of a tome is so u can unlock a skill without using skill points. a skill bought from a main town trader (has all ur unlocked skills) costs u 1k+1 skill point, so by this method tomes should be 1k+. a way to get skills while saving points, shldnt it at least be even? lol
but i like the cheap prices of tomes, makes new characters move alot quicker

anyway, i find it good, when they get cheaper, because then will people with multiple characters have finally a cheap alternative to get one day maybe all unlocked skills for an other cha for just only 1/10th of the cost you would have to pay isntead on NPC, in the best case, that tomes would hopefully fall one day on 100g sell price XD
PS: the only way how anet could raise their value again, woudl be, if normal tomes would unlock any skills, regardless if unlocked, or not, but that should do imo all tomes anyway, totally sucks, that you can get with them only unlocked skils -.-

If someone spams "WTB monk Tome for 2k, please. I really need it." then why would I sell it lower

Can't expect people to create new characters all the time this late in the game ![]() |
With HoM being the only thing we can prepare for GW2 most are only working on filling it and getting their next koabd rank which discourages the creation of new character making the only people that use tomes the ones that have nothing better to do than unlock all the skills on their "main" toon.
Well, when you don't need or don't want skill anymore, you sell tomes, and thanks to the titles and the HoM, people tend to focus now in a single character, so sooner or later all tomes become useless, since less and less people play with other characters than the main one, and so they need less and less tomes, and that's when prices drop.
I have a better explination.
There have been 3 nearly back to back weekends of event farming. Easter, St. Patricks, and the Frog/Gaile retirement. That means, for 6 days, a large percentage of the GW population was farming non-stop for ale/sweets/consumables, often in HM. It would coorolate that the number of tomes in the market would also rise due to this reccent farming surge.
