Most weapons I buy, I would normaly customize for the extra 20% dmg, I am dying to customize my perfect Crystalline, am I mad to do so? Its driving me nuts as its worth alot but I dont get the extra dmg I would if I did, as I do use it all the time less I am using an axe.

I do want to keep it, but cos its worth money and at same time I use it, I cant make my mind up lol help I need advice

Simply put...

Do you like that skin? Will you use it for a long time?
Yes : continue No : why do you even keep it then???

Do you think you will ever need that boost in cash quickly enough it is worth selling the sword? No : customise if you use it.

Do you have any way to make money faster than playing the game (farming, running...)?
Yes : why not customise, if you're patient you should be able to get what you want anyway. No : think twice

Should you need the money, are you ready to go throught the proccess of selling it? I'm not sure if it is an easy one to sell, but I know older skin can be hard to get rid of. Yes/No?

Over all I think you should customise it. But then again I'm not the kind to go for too expensive things so money is never a problem.

Well I farm all the time helps me relax, I have a sack full of req 9 golds to sell even a magmas sheild so money is not problem really it is my fav sword I have to say.

At moment I use:

Guardian of the Hunt + crystalline
Eternal Sheild + Chaos Axes
Mursaat Hammer

Wot bugs me in this game is I bought I dwarven axe back in the old days for 100k + 120e now u can buy em for 50k, guess it will hurt me if that happens to the sword, yet I dont want sell it. thx for advice anyway I am more 75% custmoize 25% dont

Money in Guild Wars is for the sake of prestige items and nothing less. You sell things to buy better looking items and since you seem to like your Crys Sword alot, there's no reason to sell it. (Especially since you sound like money is pourin' out of your ears)

If you didn't get it from the post, customize it. But honestly, do what you want, live with no regrets!

I have 19 customized req 7s on a Warrior I don't even use - including two Axes and a Hammer. Don't bitch about losing value - 10 gold is a small price to play for increased efficiency.

Only weapons I don't customize are on my Heroes, and that's mostly because I'm cheep and will swap them between characters on occasion.

Do people somehow not have enough money to buy customized weapons for all of the heroes they use? In addition, do they really care about what heroes are using?

I swap characters a lot, and am still fairly new to the game (Started in January), so I haven't built up a big bankroll yet (which is had when you play 8 characters, 5 of which you've put in a good chunk of time with, and only 1 is actually 20th at the moment).

The one I've spent the most time on has heroes with some customized stuff, but I haven't even bothered to deck them out fully yet, and as such, most don't have weapons I think they'll end up staying with, which are hardly worth customizing. I'm still decking out my normal characters, let alone their heroes.

I'll admit it's not uber expensive, I just haven't done it yet, and at the moment it's more practical to be cheep.

I always thought it was more practical to just not care about what the heroes are using; moving around weapons for a busload of heroes consumes a lot of time for little gain. 1k per hero for collector gear isn't much.

I rarely do end up moving it around, but until I get my characters situated, I don't want to lock too much in (A hero might have something I want for another character right now).

I have gotten some things that came customized though, like collector stuff.

And some stuff was stuff I was thinking of selling that I ended up using instead.

It's upto you really. Others can't really decide for you. Get a good estimate of the cost and think if you really wanna go that far. Check every sword skin on wiki before you do it to see if there's somethin else you might like.

I customized all my weapons, but then again my taste isn't very expensive. Some of my fav skins are common drops; Longsword, Hand axe, Ball hammer, and some others. Then I started usin bmp stuff cause I thought they looked awesome but those come customized anyways

Still though, at least you're doin it - most bad players don't.

If money is not a problem, like you said, why are you hesitating?

I personally think crystallines are ugly, but I customise no matter what. If theres a skin I like, I'll buy that and customise it, because I know I won't let it go. If you like the crystalline, customise it and use it, if you don't like it, sell it and buy a skin you like.

Overall, you'll want to be fighting with a customised weapon, or else you're just cheating yourself out of damage.

Since were on the topic of "free" damage....

Does anyone use those 20%vs X mods? I thought about modding a few swords for certain enemy types. The only thing that bothered me was that having a few could easily lead to space issues.....my war's inven is already packed as it is =\

Tbh I don't recall anyone even mentioning those +20%vs <monster type> in months (at least on the War forum anyway). I wouldn't use them, they're too situational, and it's not something I'd give up 30 health for.

I don't get when people don't customise weapons that they use. If you want to keep your uber rare weapon then sure, but leave it in your storage. If you're going to pull out something to use, you're better off swinging your r13 customised +13while hexed version of the same skin.

Too much hassle for too little gain to be used in normal play imo.

Think my problem is and for I can see from some replys I all rdy have Col, Fell, Ele, Glad and many axes customized all rdy in storage charaters I dont use em anymore, I did in the past as I would mess around with skins depending on wot armor I had but now I just have FoW armor and cry and GoTH sheild suit imo.

And like I sadi above I use a chaos axe wit ha Eternal sheild when I go axe which suits my armor, guess I cahnge back to some others when I get bored, maybe I custmoze that sword after all its only a game lol thx guys

Maybe the following questions might help you a bit:

Is crystalline sword your favorite sword skin?
If yes, what are you gonna buy with the money you get by selling? Another crystalline?

Imo if you really love crystalline, either
a) Customize it
b) Sell it and get the highest req ever possible (even if its req16) and customize it

One of the biggest problems for people is that your never 100% certain you'll keep an item.

Is that R10 the best I can afford?
Will a better skin come out or will I sudenly find an awsome build that requires a diff weapon?

The simplest rule of thumb maybe, Blue/Purple/Green Customize upon aquire.
Gold Require 11-13 customize, Require 7-8-9-10 you pick a price your willing to take for it and sell it untill you get that price(assuming your reasonable with current market value).

Lucky you, but not everyone can afford to purchase 2, 5, 10+ 100K+XXecto weapons!

Add to that why buy 2 weapons with the same skin? If you purchase a R10 or get one as a drop and see a R9 or R8 that you can afford would you pass it up or buy it?

I customized quite a few weapons that I wish now I had not since I've aquired better skins and they are just sitting on a storage char collecting dust!

i customize for the simple reason that history has taught me when i bought my victos axe in proph for 30k it soon dropped to 20k and when the new games came out it plummeted even further whichjust goes to show whatever weapon you have and is good stats customize it because itll be worth nothing soon anyway.
