Leftover quest items
sigshane
Okay, I've searched and searched, to no avail.
What do I do with these leftover quest items, like one beautiful feather and three pendants, devourer egg, etc.? Can't sell them, can't salvage them, what?

Sounds like those are from Pre-Searing. Extremely useless in Post-Searing. Trash them or drop them on the ground next time you are in an explorable zone.
angrygamer
Always check the wiki before trashing anything. Although most/all leftover quest items are useless once the quest is complete, you may even be able to sell them to other (impatient) players.
Nadasee
You got no use for them if you havn't used them or compleated the quest with them.
Sentimental value mabye?
No they can't be salvaged or sold to merchant.
I'm guessing you left Pre-Searing Ascalon and there by they are useless since the quests are gone.
To remove them, drop them in a explorable area or move them to the trashcan in your inventory.

Your guess is spot-on, Nadasee. So I can just discard them then, since those items are used for only like 1% of the whole game...

Most quest items, if discarded, can be re-obtained if you havent finished the quest. You just have to abandon the quest and go back to the guy who gave the quest and you can get the quest item again. Again thats only most, not all. If you complete the quest that gives the item, then you cant get that item again, unless you make a new character.
An example that does not fall into that most category is the tapestry shred, as after you leave pre-searing, you cant go back.

Tapestry shred? Crap.
Hey, at least I'm not too far ahead there, starting over won't be so bad...
Can I still use the same player name, or must I choose another?

I got my answer already - I'll have to wait an hour after deleting her before I can re-make her with same name.
cosyfiep
unless you are like my avatar (a packrat) you probably wont need to keep the extra 'crapp' you picked up in pre (minus the iris flowers and the tapestry shred)....others of us keep the stuff ---just to keep it (yup have a mule just for pre and other noob islands quests items....trying to get more tattered bears).
you can reuse your character name if you delete the character, you cant have 2 characters with the exact same name -at the same time (that would be too confusing)....if you are on the same account that you deleted from you can reuse the name......

When you delete a character it's name will stay attached(?) to your account for an hour.
EDIT: Wow cosy. Just wow O_O
sigshane
Thanks for that clarification.
Now to either find a cheap tapestry shred, or six my character and revive her...maybe I'll go blonde this time....

Guys, if I PM someone in game, and they are not online at the time....
What happens to the message?

Trash em or keep em for sentimental reasons. You can also use one as an "inventory cap" to stop you from getting to click happy when unloading garbage at the merchant.
Wirt
If you message someone who is not online, you get a message saying "XXXXplayer is not online" and the message is not delivered.

It's a good idea to keep a useless quest items in your first inventory slot as a "safety" so you don't inadvertently sell what you might otherwise have in that first slot to a merchant, either because of lag or clicking too fast; the quest item (having a value of 0) can't be sold. Many of us learned that the hard way.

EDIT: By doing this, I mean use a new name, keep your other character, no reason to need to delete it unless you really want to :P
