Rt/Mo

Ok, so I figure the more information I can provide the better chance I have of recieveing help.

So, i have Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall.
The character is a Rt/Mo.
I have only made it to the Marketplace in the Factions campaign.
The character is level 15.
Runes I am using is Minor Vigor and the +3 Communing rune (Am thinking about switching to the +3 Channeling rune, or maybe using both.)
I do not have any Heroes and so far have no idea how to get them in Factions or Prophecies.
I have not finished the Marketplace quest and am leveling my character to 20 before I attempt it again.

Let me know if I can provide anymore information that would help

The build I am currently using:
Bloodsong
Pain
Spirit Rift
Painful Bond
(For my damage)

Mighty Was Vorizun
(For energy buff)

Mend Body and Soul
Soothing Memories
Spirit Light
(For healing)

What I am looking for is:
Builds using skills that are available to me at the point in the game I am at.
Armor / Weapon / Rune set-ups that are available to me right now.

I am not neccessarily looking for something along the lines of what I currently have, so any and all suggestions are welcome. I am pretty open to trying all sorts of different builds and styles til I find one that works well for me. I have yet find one on my own so far. I have only been playing for a month or two and still generally have pretty low knowledge of the game.

Mend Body and Soul
Spirit Light
Ghostmirror Light
Preservation (elite)
Life
Recuperation
Remove Hex or something...
Flesh of my Flesh

12+1+3 restoration.
12+1 Spawning Power

Any weapon of halves skill recharge or/and casting time.

Thats what I use on my rt, works beautifully One of my own creations
Well, since your only in the Marketplace... Make your way to Kaineng Center and get to Nightfall for some heroes and stuff and to buy skills.
But since you wont be able to get Preservation (it's waay into the game) then replace it with some cool resto or spawning skill

Hope that maybe helps, atleast you get a great build

Roygbiv,
Most Ritualists now don't even use Communing after too many nerfs. I wouldn't either. A Ritualist usually has the following Attribute point spread: 12 Channeling, 12 Restoration and 3 spawning. Sometimes you will see pure healer rits ("Resto Rits") run with 12 Restoration and 12 Spawning if they have [Attuned was Songkai] or [Rejuvenation] in their healing builds. Use either Channeling or Restoration runes. Try to stay away from superior runes if possible. Try not to have more than 1-2 binding rituals on your skill bar.
  • Best rit elites are [Offering of Spirit] (or until you get to NF, [Signet of Spirits]), [Weapon of Remedy] and [Attuned was Songkai] (Use with [Serpent's Quickness], [Glyph of Swiftness] or alternate ashes with [Energetic Was Lee Sa]) Try running something like this for a week: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...0&postcount=73
    Hope that helps!

No. No no no no no. You do realize superior runes take away 75 health right? What would possess you to use two superior runes? That's -150 health right off the bat! You don't even need a superior rune, you'll do fine with a major or minor attribute rune. Don't buy runes for communing or spawning, you'll almost never spec into these lines.

A minor vigor rune will help, but you should invest in a major vigor at least. Superior runes are the best, but they're very expensive. Unless you have the spare platinum, you should be fine with a major vigor.

    [Channeling/Resto Hybird;OACjEyiM5MYMvp0MjNMHnH3kLA]

That's what I run usually. Splinter weapon and Ancestor's Rage are pretty much necessities for a Ritualist. Protective was Kaolai is currently the best party heal in the game, so you should bring that with you. Offering of Spirit is pretty much a necessity for a Ritualist as well, as our elites are pretty terrible. You can't get that elite until much further into Nightfall so you may want to save up your money and get it using an elite ritualist tome. Just make sure it's unlocked on your account first, which you can do easily by aquiring 3,000 Balthazar faction in various PvP areas of the game. Or, just wait and use Signet of Spirits until you get that far into Nightfall.

Maybe a stupid question, but as I said, I have little knowledge of the game outside of what I have played. How do I get to Nightfall or Prophecies?

Also, when posting Builds / Skills for me to use, please remember, I have Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. I do not have Eye of the North.

Also, where can I find more information on these Tomes. I have never heard of them nor how they work.

Thanks for help so far, very helpful.

To get to proph, talk to Guardsman Chienpo in Kaineng Center.
To get to NF, talk to Imperial Guardsman Linro in Kaineng Center.

There are 2 kinds of tomes, non-elite and elite tomes.

A non-elite skill tome can be used to learn any one non-elite skill associated with that tome's correlated profession if that skill is unlocked on your account. These are named after their profession, so a tome for a monk skill is named a "Monk Tome".

An elite skill tome can be used to learn any one elite skill associated with that tome's correlated profession if that skill is unlocked on your account. Where standard skill tomes can be dropped as loot from any hard mode foe of the appropriate profession, up to two elite skill tomes can drop from locked chests or as loot from hard mode boss creatures of the appropriate profession. Learning an elite skill through a skill tome adds a point to the Skill Hunter title for the character that reads it. These are named after their profession, so an elite tome for a dervish skill is named an "Elite Dervish Tome". Like regular skill tomes, it doesn't consume or use an earned skill point.

Armor / Weapon / Rune set-ups that are available to me right now. Armor:

Get max armor as soon as possible. Kaineng is just north of the Marketplace.

    Weapons:
I use a 40/40 sets for Channeling and Resto. You can get those weapons further into the game, but they don't have a 20/20 wand for Resto as far as I know, so you'd have to go into the Kurzick lands and get the Brightclaw.

High energy set for emergencies, available at Maatu Keep i believe.

    Defensive set.
+30 hp axe/sword/spear and a +30 hp/+10 armor shield. If you have Prophecies game of the year edition, type /bonus and keep that shield around until you can get better ones that you can modify. The +10 armor is against a certain type of damage, like blunt, slashing, fire, etc etc, and can give you +18 armor from your shield. Unless you meet the requirements, the shield will give you +8 armor.

    Runes:
I HIGHLY recommend against anything other than Minor Runes (except for Superior Vigor of course).

Get Channeling and Restoration headgear, put a minor Channeling Rune on each, and switch around as you like. Also put a Minor Restoration rune somewhere else. A spawning rune could work if and extra second of a weapon spell is important to you.

As a Rit, you must be flexible in what you can contribute to the party. If your group is short a monk, go pure resto. Ample enough defense? Channeling. Otherwise, use Xiooua's build. It's the best hands down.

    Sample Restoration build:

    [skill]Weapon of Warding[/skill][skill]Mend Body and soul[/skill][skill]Spirit Light[/skill][skill]Protective was Kaolai[/skill][skill]Offering of Spirit[/skill][skill]Life[/skill][skill]Death Pact Signet[/skill] or [skill]Flesh of my Flesh[/skill]

The optional slot can be filled with [skill]Vengeful Weapon[/skill] (think of it as a Rit's RoF lol) [skill]Weapon of Shadow[/skill] or [skill]Great Dwarf Armor[/skill] if you have EotN.

    Sample Channeling Build:

    [skill]Ancestors' Rage[/skill][skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill][skill]Bloodsong[/skill][skill]Offering of Spirit[/skill][skill]Death Pact Signet[/skill] or [skill]Flesh of my Flesh[/skill]

    Optional skills include: [skill]Spirit Burn[/skill] [skill]Nightmare Weapon[/skill] [skill]Spirit Rift[/skill] and [skill]Warmonger's Weapon[/skill].

(Note that if you're playing with ompetent people, [skill]death Pact Signet[/skill] is the best rez you can get, but if PUGing, [skill]Flesh of my Flesh[/skill] is best)

    Insignias:
Survivors only. Health is the universal defense against damage. Armor is nice, but modifying your shield to +10 armor vs. Fire or whatnot helps best.

Besides, Protective was Kaolai gives you +24 armor while you're holding it anyways.

    Good luck.

Thanks a ton guys. Alot of good info so far. Only question I am coming up with is; What should I use in place of Order of Spirit til I can get it. If switching my secondary is neccessary I am not opposed to that at all as I haven't been using Monk skills in quite some time.

Until then, you can use [essence strike] in conjunction with [life]. Not as good, but better than nothing.

    THANKS A TON GUYS!!!!

I finally got some time to sit down and play with some of the stuff I have read on here and on the Wikis you guys suggested. So:

    I ditched the +3 runes
    Got a Major Vigor
    Got Minor Restoration and Channeling
    Full radiant Insigs
My weapon has :16% Chance to Half Casting time +9 Energy 16% Chance to Half recharge (I think this is 16 or 14)
    Rid myself of Communing

Within just a few hours of playing my survuvability went through the roof compared to what it used to be. I started ripping through quests I never thought I would finish. Got my last 5 levels. Got myself some heroes. All thats left is to hunt down that damn elite

I did notice however that I have completely stopped using my Mo secondary. So I guess my final question is; Is there a good secondary for Rits out there or are they better off just straight up Rest/Chan?

Thanks again for the help, I was about to quit playing this game out of frustration but now am having more fun than ever with it!

In most cases for normal PvE play, I would only use your secondary for utility skills such as [Empathic Removal] and [expel hexes].

Thats about what I run. Personally I like to cram spirit light into it in place of DPS, but its a strong build either way. Just make sure you have 14 Channeling (either minor channeling rune+ headpiece or a major channeling rune) so that you can hit the breakpoint for Splinter weapon. At 13 channeling splinter weapon is 44 aoe damage for 4 attacks, while at 14 it does 47 damage on 5 attacks. Thats over a 25% increase in potential damage.

In general, the only good reasons to use your secondary is either your primary attribute will greatly support it (read: N/x's with infinite energy), or to use classes which offer powerful skills that require nothing or almost nothing in their attributes to use. Since Spawning Power's effect is pretty much trash, you are limited to the second option.

Nightow listed some good off-class hex removal, which is the rits main weak point, but it stops you from using offering of spirit for energy, so I would recommend a non-elite one. The only other thing I can think of that would add well is going /e and getting Glyph of Lesser Energy, which is pretty decent energy management, especially if you haven't gotten offering of spirit.

Right, doesn't have to be elite. I just used some common examples. You could easily use [remove hex], [Revealed Hex]/[Inspired Hex] and [Smite Hex]. Other non-rit skills you might see on a rit bar include [rip enchantment], [barbs], [smite condition], [Castigation Signet] and [Glyph of lesser energy]]

Whoa whoa whoa. Radiant Insignias? Buddy, Survivors are the best. More energy is not energy management. Besides, your weapons, and [Offering of Spirit] should give you energy anyways.

Everything else is fine. Just get better weapons.

Rits = flexibility, and you should take advantage of that. Your monk secondary can be useful for hex removal and valid prots if you know they will be necessary.

You get Heroes in Nightfall. Once you get them, you can take them back with you through Factions/Prophesies from the Party Panel, hotkey "P". The best place to level yourself or Heroes is in the Factions mission "Vizunah Square." It's wave after wave after wave of enemies, for 25-35 minutes, depending on how the other cooperative team is doing. You should get a level per run, for yourself and all your Heroes.

Personally, I recommend running a Rit/N Minion Bomber build for that mission. Then again, I'm biased. XD
