VoodooPCs make me wet.
I use to own an ENVY (laptop) that was made by them, they not only use select components, but they know how to assemble it correctly so the machine doesn't fall apart after dropping it a few dozen times.
A lot of people prefer computer companies because they assemble the parts in a very neat fashion, they use the exact amount of wires, and their ribbons and cables seem to be only to the length required.
Voodoo is no exception. You pay extra for their worksmanship, but the quality shows, and when I say this, I mean you may not be getting the fastest product, but rest assured you're getting quality.
And nothing beats quality.

although if you want quality and performance nothing beats falcon northwest if money is no issue you cannot go wrong with these guys, they are the best have been the best and will prob. always be the best, but be prepared to invest as they are the most most expensive but for the right reasons.

my HP computer i bought 2 years ago gave me: a mobo with 1PCIe X 16 slot.
a pentium 4 with 3.0 GHz, a 6200LE graphic card, 1GB memory, a case wich is so small that 1/4th of the mobo was hiden behind the HDD bays, wich made it hard to install extra memory/replace PSU and a 250GB HDD.
also, the case has a horible airflow thanks to a single fan on the back -.-
before that comp i had a crap computer as well dunno what brand, but after this i decided to make my own.
altho HP does use a relax backup system to reinstall drivers/windows.

well, all the stupid software is stupid, but i did get rid of some virus's thanks to the formating system, you can also recover your pc to a earlier state, like if you exidently download a virus, you just go back to how your computer was yesterday.
never called in with the customer service, but my experience with customer services is that they are always crap.
called in on MSI customers service, cause of a common problem with the 9600GT(reboting/black screen). that idiot blamed my mobo for not supporting pcie 2.0 while later on the internet i read you just need to underclock the shader a little bit.

The recovery function you're talking about is windows' own recovery system. HP's program only restores to factory settings.

I wouldn't recommend HP, as the four that were purchased by various family members of mine ALL had to be taken back to get something replaced within the first month of ownership. The one I purchased had not one, but two failed hard drives, and faulty restore disks that had to be recalled and replaced by HP. All told, I went about 1 month without a working computer in the two months after buying it. Customer service with HP was certainly polite, but they were very hard to understand (english a second language for dell support?) and did not understand that I was well already aware of the 'typical fixes' had already tried them and that they were not working. But take that for a grain of salt, as I hear that their Laptops are rock solid.
I have never had a problem (beyond bloatware) on a Gateway. My parents love their dell, but I'm still reserved about how aggressively they try to minimize expenses.

my suggestion, from looking at their machines firsthand, is to buy a velocity micro pc. They have good build quality and excellent part configurations. if you are feeling adveturous shoot me a pm with your budget and ill configure you with a newegg cart of excellent parts to build a machine with. |
Velocity Micro is overpriced bullshit. As is Alienware.
VooDoo and FalconNorthwest are elitist brands, known for exceptional craftsmanship and artistic talent. Their cases are beautifully crafted, and you will pay out the ass for it.
Velocity Micro sold their souls to Satan a few years back (aka best buy)

Buying from CyberpowerPC and Ibuypower is a gamble.
You can get a terribly crafted computer or a really nice one.
Reliable and aren't overpriced.

Just remember, don't concern yourself with what you read here. Every company gets complaints, that is the way of business. It's how the company deals with the complaints that you need to concern yourself with.
XPS range for example. Solid as a rock. Have dedicated support if something does go wrong. Same goes for Alienware and Voodoo.
I've heard bad thing about CyberpowerPC also, but as it is with the interent people only ever post the negative reports. I'm certain Cyberpower has far more happy customers then unhappy ones. Those that are unhappy tend to shout more then those that are not.
A little bit of research never hurts.
