AFK Trading?
Reaper of Phear
IDK if it has been posted before, but I think that one thing sorely missing from GW is a way to trade without actually having to be present at your comp. I know that if I didnt need to actively be at my comp to sell, I would be rich, cause my storage has a lot of nice stuff, but I dont want to keep spamming my "classified" in town when i could be using that time to go get new elites or items or do pvp, etc.
I can think of two ways (atm) to implement this.
We could just go straight-up WoW style and get an auction house going. You set a min bid, a buy-out price, and you then leave it there with/deposit for X time. There would be NPCs in all major cities that would bring up the AH interface. Whether your item sold and u get gold for it or your item didnt sell and you have to get it back, you could go to the AH NPC and claim ur proffit/item. (there could even be a whole in-game mail system to return the profit/item, but that is for another time and thread).
We could also do something like Lineage 2, where you go into vendor mode. You pick which items you want to sell, and at what price. You then type up a short little description of what you're selling; this will either appear over you as a speech-bubble-esque thingy, or peeps could click you and see your store description.
You then go into vendor mode. You sit down/kneel/still-but-not-standing, and peeps come up to you and if you got something they want at a price they are willing to pay, they simply hit buy right there - done! You get the gold, they get the item, and you didn't need to sit there the whole time just simply hitting "ENTER, CTRL-V, ENTER wash, rinse, repeat" or "OMG PS, check it now noobs!! I got stuff to sell".
The beauty of this is that you can sell without actually being there. When I used to play L2, if I wanted to take a dinner/insert-meal-here-break, I would just "set up shop" and go afk. Or if I knew I was gonna be afk for an extend period of time. Many of the GW pop spends weekdays in institutions know as schools, you could just set up shop and go to school, come back, and that super-rare you wanted to cash in on is gone, but u are now X g richer.
Comments, criticism, anything?

Honestly I'd rather not see people in "vendor mode" littering the streets, as you see in many MMO's. it adds needless clutter, and I find it about the same difficulty in locating what you want, since you have to click on each and every seller. The upside of it, however, would be the ability to sell multiple things at once. Personally, I'd prefer a NPC Auction house, though I doubt one would be introduced.

I quite like the idea. I think something like that has been missing from GW for a while, and is desperately needed. There should, however, be a designated area for the vendors, so that there aren't a bunch of afks taking up space in a town.

I like-ish the idea. I think it's good but I don't think that A-net is gonna change anything to be more like another game. THey would just get a bunch of unneeded static from it.

Obviously, this idea, along with the Auction House, are all great ideas that would help GW out. But seriously, these ideas will never be implemented by Anet. Post all you want, Anet wouldn't give a damn. Face it, they have given up on GW1.
*Gem*
The idea of the Auction House may be added to GW2 as I am pretty certain for some reason or another they cannot add it to GW1.
Although I am pretty content to wait for it until GW2; at this point I'd rather they look to the future than constantly put it on hold to make major repairs on this one.

It's been suggested hundreds of times before, but there's no reason to believe it'll ever be implemented to Guild Wars. Hopefully something of the such will be a part of GW2, but who knows. I can't stand spamming WTS/WTB for more than 10 minutes.

It's a good idea

But it's almost useless because you are "trapped" in that place.

I'm not sure if I like this idea. It's kind of like using a bot. If it's done with your character standing in Lion's Arch or whatever, people can't tell if you're really there or not. Part of the game is interacting with people and if people are second guessing that in any aspect, even if it's just trading, that feeling is compromised.
I'm already getting rude sellers in LA and Kamadan who act like bots. They have a long message they spam in trade chat. Only part of it is seen in Party Search. I ask how much they're selling whatever for and in whisper they just repeat the whole trade chat line they're doing. Impersonal and kinda like they're blowing me off. Almost like an automated message. Another seller did that and the whole line said just open trade to buy lock picks. As if I was supposed to know that when the party search window only shows the first part and I'm in another district and unable to see the trade chat in the seller's district.

I think instead of doing the vendor mode or auction house, combine the two. For a short time, I played a game called Conquer Online, and they had what was called a marketplace. It is a completely seperate area that can be accessed through the major cities, and people can go AFK selling stuff. This would allow the simplicity of vendor mode without cluttering up LA and SPAMadan.
However, at this point in the GW life, I am 99.99998% sure it will not be put in. I do expect to see something of the sort in GW2 though.

Vendor mode is bad. I don't want to slough through 8 districts of Spamadan, clicking every 'vendor' just to see what they are offering.
I also don't want to have those said vendors spam their message automatically.
If this would be combined with the Party Search window however, I'd vote a yes. This way, you could easily scan all vendors, map to their district, and approach them. Now we only need a way to automatically sell stuf while being AFK.

Sweet Mystery
I believe a Xunlai Merchant has been in the rumours for some time.... which will facilitat this. My understanding is you "check in items to sell and their price" and people can view this like a store and then buy items from it.
Would be great to see then I can get rid of stuff I need to sell but don't have time to....

I thought for some time that AFK shop stalls could do.
But after reading the Xunlai Marketplace gossip thread, I'm possitive that the only 'solution' for market is that one: The Xunlai Market.
AFK stalls could help, but people would still have to spend ages looking between lots of districts, and each district has a maximum of players that can enter. So a system to allow searches regardless of region and district would be WAY better.

Yep, been talked about a lot. Other suggestions have included a marketplace like in MapleStory. Haven't we been told that it's not going to happen? Too many people would prefer GW2.

/notsigned. This is not for the casual player who somewhat trades, this is a benefit only to those who deem playing gw as trading. If you deal in bulk trades, use gwguru auction, don't spam trade chat. And even if you don't want to use gwguru auction, then you have the choice of using 'trade' under party search.
