If they took more time with the AI, HM would have been alot better.
Out of curiousity, can you name a game in which the higher difficulty of the game leads to smarter AI's? Just a note, I am refering to a great improvement to the AI's of the game, not just some small adjustments, since apparantly, the improvements we have in Guild Wars isn't enough.

Put it this way, a smarter AI, reducing the predictability is better.
Predictability makes them extremely easy to stop.

Sort of like Halo, instead of just standing there, they come into melee instead of letting you strafe behind a wall and regen all the time, atleast from my experience.

That adjustment is still fairly predictable.

Also, a smarter AI isn't reducing the predictability of the game; if that's what people really want, we could just take down both Wikipedia sites, and I bet there will be a lot unexpected events throughout Hard Mode.

Nevertheless, a smarter AI is fairly just more codes that are added so it can counter players better. It isn't as easy as it sounds; to program this AI, one must ensure that there won't be any logic paradoxes. Even so, humans will still be able to take these AI's down. Why? Because there will always be flaws in these AI's so they can be countered, and people will just share their methods of beating these AI's online. In saying this, I find that the AI's in Guild Wars are fine, and they are already challenging enough; it's just that these forums and both Wikipedia sites allowed people to share their methods, which in return, decreased the challenge and entitlement of Hard Mode. Don't you agree?

I didn't use Wiki once for my HM missions, or for vanquishing Cantha.
And I like unpredictability. It keeps the game interesting.

Although I'm not really versed in programming or anything because I hate computers. I can do little but agree with you on your second point.

Wikipedia was no more than an example for internet resources; can you say you did not use any other internet resources for your Hard Mode missions or vanquishing tasks?

In all fairness, I'm not trying degrade you just because you used internet resources to get ahead of the game, but I'm just pointing out that there are more reasons than just "bad AI" that made Hard Mode easier than it was planned to be. And most of these reasons aren't really Anet's fault.

In a way, it was.
If you think about it, all they really did was pump up the levels and buff them up a tad.
Heck, it made some skills stronger, skills such as Spiteful Spirit and the list goes on.

"In terms of AI:

Monsters in hard mode respond and escape from AoE damage more quickly.
Monsters in hard mode will be more likely to kite for longer periods of time.
Melee monsters in hard mode avoid focusing their attacks on one target. "

To be honest, it's pretty much the same in other games.

Keep in mind that although this is a cooperative game they still needed to make hard mode accessable to the casual/solo player.

Increasing the AI to the point where you needed a full team of live players and a solid strategy + perfect execution just to clear the first mission in Prophicies might have been a little over the top!

PvE is for fun, if you want a challenge play PvP

I always thought it'd be kind of interesting if they gave the Kournans, etc. balanced PvP team builds in HM such that steamrolling wouldn't work that well.

Hard Mode feels too easy these days, even without PvE skills and consumables. I hope GW2 will have more difficulty tiers with the higher tiers harder than GW1 HM.

Oh, so they can use the "this game is free" as an excuse to produce half assed recycled crap? Did you think it was free when buying the games?

But anyhow, i took that on board a while ago. I moved on, and started playing a monthly fee game. Thanks though.
