there is already too many specific PvE skills that either are overpowered (ursan) or cheap knockoffs of skills that are already available.
besides the Kind of Big Deal title track is already linked with Hall of Monuments which could possible give you something really good/bad in Guild Wars 2.

When you switch the title on, instead of having the little icon describing your current title's effects like the rep title's (Edification, Stout-Hearted, Rebel Yell, etc...), you'd be under the effect of: [Insert name of your current KoaBD level here] "While displaying your KoaBD title, all your reputation based effects are currently active." This would remove the hassle of swapping between each title to recieve each effect, and save people from accidently "forgetting" important titles, such as lb in RoT. This would in no way be over powered, as the effects would have very minimal overlap (norn+ebon could be useful for Blood Washes Blood, and deld+asuran could help someone attempting G.O.L.E.M., but none of these are game breaking) and would provide a handy feature to anyone willing to invest the day or two to hammer out atleast 5 max titles. IMO, this would be the best possible reward for those attempting the KoaBD track as it's not imbalanced, provides no visual benefit over others (rank emotes), and is surprisingly useful. |
That's actually a pretty good idea. /signed for that

Absolutely /notsigned for any additional in-game advantage - this game is already broken like a very broken thing, please stop suggesting ways to break it some more.
/signed for some visual cue like rank emote, Divine Aura or profession independent new dance to display GWAMM while using some other title.

Alright guys,
Thanks for completely slating my idea but still, you must admit that players who earn the koabd titles do deserve more than just a title and an oversized parrot.
I think Chronos' idea about the toggle on/off "aura" is awesome and who ever mentioned emotes, i agree with that.
I admit that adding more PVE only skills may meet some oppostion but surely something must be done!!
Please continue to discuss

/notsigned. You are only required to grind in GW twice in order to advance the plot, once in Factions, and once in Nightfall. Choosing to playgrind is your choice, asking anet to venerate your particular choice of gaming is a moot point. If anything, I support the addition of even more titles, that way you who do choose to be play grinders are kept on your toes for that always out of reach title.

R6 gets you an aura and makes your name+title appear in gold instead of blue (my idea). Any bonuses are retarded for obvious reasons.

Should just give me a pink trim for getting r6 koabd.

Titles = epeen. And nothing else. That's the only reason there were introduced.
You're missing a vital element of what made Guild Wars different from other MMOs. This suggestion proves it.

You should get a "special* scroll to the under world. 1 per toon. It should take you straight to a cut scene in Grenth's throne room. There should be a rez shrine, Grenth should be a friend so ya can't attack him. He kills you over and over while pointing and laughing until you resign or get errored out of the game.

hmmm, oddly enough double d., i actually do agree with you. and hope you haven't taken most of these replies seriously ^^
however, there are tons of jealous people out there who don't want to work for this title and they will whine about it till they are blue in the face (especially in guru forums)~because they want everything to be equal to their level, which is basically sit and do nothing and get something for it, like don't play characters or don't even log into their account for several months so they get tons of minipets. and might i add on several upon several accounts...or explain to everyone how little they play because of real life issues like work, school, and drama. but still the ones that achieved great titles (whether that was/will be by SKILL or TIME (both are necessary to complete the title)) should not be affected by those who rarely ever play.
but hardcore players want to exceed the sit-and-do-nothing level~for themselves~and upon completion of NOT sitting and wallowing, they should be rewarded for what they have done (even if [whatever the "reward" is] most likely won't carry over into gw2).
okay, we get a rainbow phoenix. but that really only benefits rangers...and most other classes don't play secondary ranger just to display a big huge bird because our builds require other secondaries (duh). even if it goes in the HoM, it is still only a statue at this time :O and depending on the player, the statue gets covered up by other statues!
id say some things to start with would be~
a. minipet of yourself
b. godly type aura (or even funnier, kind of brightly outlined as if player was a boss monster)
c. both a & b. (and possibly all of the above had there been more ideas coming from me)
but not game skills...think about how often those would actually be useful...
heh damage reduction by 80% sounds hilarious, obviously not intended for pvp.
armor would be interesting, maybe ethereal armor something to that effect. something else to work for possibly? what else is there to do in gw1 after the HoM is complete? something to think about, right? keep players in the game (who have completed this title early) to work for something else, after all it IS an option...not necessary...
if anything is added to the game, it should be added to existing AND future gods, not just anyone who achieves it after a certain point (the title is hard enough to get as is, especially saving up enough money for it is).
my explanation for my choices:
*there are already minipets that are too expensive for a huge majority of the game's players to afford, even for those with god status! and dedicated too! why not a mini of myself? o______________o it would be funny! a mini me. i happen to think minipets are cute and i really don't care what others' foul opinions on pets are. if i like them, that is what matters to me
*auras would be nice if you want to display another title. but something a little more on the subtle end might work...i dunno i think setting a player on fire is a little loud and meaningless to the "god" name but possibly choose among several types? and add the option of putting it somewhere on your body to activate it? so it is not ALWAYS active?
just brainstorming, but i think it would be a bit entertaining for those with the title.
and by the way, i really do not care for posts opposing my idea, as i am supporting double d.'s thread~i stand firm with my ideas and his/hers and no jealous player(s) will make me think otherwise.

I'm all for giving the God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals some special emote (like the PvP emotes), but having an in game advantage for a title for which 50% can be bought is a bad idea.

The title is enough of an reward.
What have they done to earn awesome things ?
They just played the game, filled in their time with getting the titles (While title-hunting you also earn a lot of money & items)
So there is absolutely NO need for extra rewards.
Unless you get Gwamm in pre-searing , then you should get all items available in game =]

Giving actual game benefits to title grinders is a terrible idea. This game wasn't meant to be about who spent the most time on mindless tasks.

Hmmm...I keep hearing the same stuff over and over, but nobody actually giving a completely valid reason for stating it:
1) "Titles are for e-peen only" - Nobody has ever said anything to me about my title(s), and frankly I would be surprised if they did. Family and friends will congratulate me when I get a new one, because I enjoy pursuing goals. I don't go around telling everyone, but I enjoy having it displayed because I do take pride in achieving the goal. I don't care if anyone notices. I would be willing to bet that it is true for the majority of players. Of course, the only ones you will ever hear say anything are the ones for whom this is not true. A loud 1% will always be more noticed than a mute 99%. Whenever I see a high-rank in the KoaBD displayed, I whisper to tell them congrats, or to show respect. I have never once gotten a reply. The majority just don't seem to care if you recognize them or not.
2) "Titles make this a grind/time-based game rather than skill-based" - Simply untrue. There are certain things that I just cannot do yet because I have not gotten good enough. I can do most things. Eventually, everyone should be able to do everything (who cannot mimic a skill bar and punch keys on a keyboard?) but it takes time to develop those skills. Not everyone starts out being the greatest, but with any game like this there will be a plateau. It does not mean the game is now grind-based, it is simply that the max skill required has been reached. Let me provide an example. Currently I am vanquishing (heroes and hench only). There are certain areas in each campaign that I have not been able to vanquish, and I know I am still not ready for them. But as I vanquish other areas, I keep learning more effective ways to choose my skill setup and orders to use my skills. As I get better, I come across areas that are similar to others that I had abandoned, but find I can now handle them. I return to the old area and knock it out. This has happened several times. Frequently I go into an area and get wiped within ten minutes. I now know where the popups are and the patrols and I do it smarter the next time. So it may be grind to those that have already reached the max-skill required, but for the rest of us it is still very much skill-based - and fun to boot!
On topic, I do not know how much I think someone should benefit for reaching GWAMM. I guess personally, I am ambivolent. I might make it....but I expect r5 to be the highest for me. And even if I did make it, I still don't think I would care. It's just a game. Just please quit throwing out the poorly formed ideas concerning your disdain for titles. They are not as much of a grind as many people think (but you can definitely make it a grind by copying cookie-cutter builds if that is fun to you!), and the majority of title possessors don't care whether or not you notice their title.
