New Expansion - Idea for Fact and NF
Wrath of m0o
I was thinking how EoTn is an expansion for Prophecies (just as Deldrimore War Camp was a free mini-epansion), what if Factions and Nightfall were to get some type of mini-expansion, or even their own stand alone Expansion like EoTn.
I know GW2 is set kinda far off, but new content to Factions and NF with more Elite areas would be really cool.
Looking at the maps, there is lots of land that could be used to upgrade these areas, and im sure AneT would love some more cash to throw at GW2.
Wouldnt you just love to see more content added to your burned out campaigns?

Anet have announced that they will not be releasing any further expansions/stand alone games for GW1, they are working on GW2.
we won't be seeing any kind of expansion or mini expansion for GW.

Last time i checked Eotn can be accessed by cantha and elona too, theyre just not on their maps
totally different than a proph exclusive expansion

Wrath of m0o
yeah, but some dungeons on Factions and NF would rock my socks, plus add reasons to go back and revisit these continents.

it sucks that I like this game so much, because anet is shitting on us with it. I doubt I buy GW2 due to the way they have done GW1. All we will get is a few weak updates here and there and we will not see any new content. It seems anet doesnt want us to play anymore.

Rat i think that is just a very badly thought out comment. Anet are making huge changes to GW2 from the current game structure and they do give us those weekend events, and some arent bad. I agree with mOo a mini expansion would be great in Factions and Nightfall, heck even one in presearing e.g a dungeon for lvl15+ would be great
legion_rat
But they arent going to give us anything. once GW2 hits GW1 will be the ugly stepchild. it will shrivel and die do to anets lack of care. then in 3 years when gw3 comes out gw2 can join gw1 in the closet fighting for crumbs.
Anet seems to run like nintendo. every few years a new system come out instead of crossing them like sega has or xbox. When GW2 was first hyped we had the idea we would be able to take gw1 chars over to the next game and go even further with our favorites.
and yes we get weekend. yay more points from grinding!!!! I wish they lived to their hype.
lets see what gw2 brings. I will wait and see before i buy it.

you cant blame anet. currently the only MMO that can do that is WoW cus all new games are added to original(much like EoTN). Diablo quite possibly one of the best computer games ever made was dumped then came diablo II even better and that was dumped for 11 years. so Anet is actually doing a good job with those weekly updates. You cant compare nintendo with pc completly different consoles, and nintendo does it cus no1 buys their stuff anymore(i still play my N64 btw) so they can continue to make a profit
beregond
I like the idea, but it won't happen.
Perhaps a larger scale bonus mission pack would be cooler. Perhaps showing how Cantha started to change under Kisu's successor, or something like that. you can like be in the Canthan army and go pwn the Kurzicks and Luxons!

It all sounds like a good idea, and I think it would be awesome to see some new content but at the same time I don't want any.
The reason I don't want any is i don't want to see some half-hearted attempt on the part of A-Net to get new content out. The sad fact of the matter is any new content now would be rushed and not refined because they would rather dedicate their resources to GW2.
Essentially I am not willing (same for A-Net) to sacrifice quality in GW2 for some Factions/NF dungeons.

Nah no more $$$ for ANet. Wait for GW2...after it is released and if bug-free they can release as many expansions for GW1 as they want.
Chrono Re delle Ere
not going to happen, waste of time talking about it....

I'd love for factions to get an expansion and NF one too. However, ANet is too greedy to do something like that. They want everyone to start all over again.
I think it's because someone ran out of mini ideas.

There are some doors with no use.
For example, in the Easter wall inside Tahnnakai.
Or in the Northern side of Barbarous Shore
They lead nowhere. I would love to give an use to those two doors.
So any mini-expansion could use those doors.

I am not buying GW2, invested to much time into GW1 to just toss it. So unless my toons can travel between GW1 and GW2 I have no use for GW2 and ANET has done said that is not going to happen.
ANET wants anymore of my money they will have create something for GW1.

You think Anet is money hungry? Guess what? They are a company whose goal is to..... make money. Of course they are going to do what they think will generate revenue.
You don't have to throw anything away, even if you buy GW2 you can come back and play your GW1 characters aswell. I wouldn't think the 200 years in the future is what is appealing to most people who will buy GW2.
You have got almost 2000 hours worth of gaming from a $120 investment, that is better than any other game I have played.
You sound like a spoilt child stomping their feet on the ground because mommy won't buy them a lollipop.

"hmm maybe it's time to start another game?" If i was Anet staff, I'd look at what we'd already made and think.. "hmm maybe we can add something on and listen to what our fans think to make it, y'know just so much better"
Yea I've been lookin forward to a expansion for Factions and NF. Factions mostly. The whole mainland of cantha is got one big east side of land that's got nothing on it... I want to see whats on the other side of those moutains..

$400.00, 3 years, 2,000 hours, and 18 toons later and I am suppose to happy that no further expansion will be coming out for this game. I am sticking with GW1 until the servers shut down and again, if anet wants my money they better make some expansions for gw1.

I hope anyway.

And to Ultra. Its not a spoiled child thing. Anet keeps saying they are working off the same game engine and design (ONLY GREATLY IMPROVED!!!!) that they used in GW1. Why not instead of killing what we love. just continue to expand gw1. I am not the only person here that has logged 1000 or more hours and spent a ton of money on this game. Now it feels as if its wasted. Wow I get to play 200 years in the future. and lucky me I can look at all the crap i did in the first game going "man my forefathers were retarded logging over 2k hours on the last game since I can play this one!"
Why not instead of making 200 years in the future make it ten. Most of our chars are fresh out of school so they are what 16-20ish. Once you buy the "upgrade" to gw2 and a lengthy download you get the cooler graphics, and the new content. Anything other than "we got so excited with the idea of starting over that we new we couldnt do anymore campaigns or expansions" I am pissed that I dont get to put the weapons of my choosing into HoM. If and thats a weak if, I bought GW2 i could not use my Ironwing Flatbow. But I can have a butt ugly destroyer weapon. Anet has hyped GW2 and made it look like the gods have gifted us. So far I have heard nothing but disappointment. Everyone bitching about onething or another.
not bitching for the sake of it, just unhappy with how I as a customer have been treated. Where is your loyalty Anet?

Sir Pandra Pierva
here is what would be a good idea actually make another mini expansion that uses all the damn land that is ingnored in GWEN. there is so much there why can't you go explore it, another fire islands is on the top of the map. there is nothing there, at least not to my knowlage. Lets make some mini dungeon for there that is a real elite dungeon where UB is banned<_<>_> but in all seriousness there is much unused areas in guildwars espicially proph with GWEN added on to it. That anet could start releasing some cool new dungeons that are of extream varying difficulty lvls.
Like a grenths dungeon version of the snowman lair.
a trip to the lost city of Orr
A portal that you actually relive Orrs last moments.
learning more about the dragons that are going to mess everything up in gw2
those would be fun.
and having a mission where you get to kill Gadd or some undead form of him, come on you all know you have wanted to kill that annoying bastard.
and some new pvp maps that are racial wars but aren't lame like AB.

I am not pissed about it, GW1 is still playable and I will keep playing until the servers close and then I will right all of ANET's game off completely unless they produced something with instances or a single player game.
I will gladly pay another $400 dollars if I can play this game in the future (after the servers close) as a LAN game. That is something I never understood, why not release the game and offer host software so they would not have to maintain servers and reduce cost of upkeep (NWN1 community developed this so they could host there own presistant worlds but most worlds lacked in content).
Just to reiterate, not upset that GW2 is being developed or upset with ANET, just not going to pre-order GW2 because it doesn’t sound like my type of game. I will try the demo when it becomes available but being forced to play the actually game with everyone on the server does not appeal to me.

Rat and others like Rat,
I too have spent 1000's of hours playing gw, I am in the same boat as you BUT I am longing for the day when there are no wiki's, no ursan, no guide. When we are all noobs again. No gold to buy on e-bay, no runs to another zone. GW1 is truly stagnant. If not for goals and some good friends I would have jumped to a dif game awhile ago.
To Regina,
While I share in your enthusiasm for the release of gw2, we have a problem.
Myself and EVERY OTHER PLAYER, have already purchased GW1. The promise of a better game to buy in the future is the worst and oldest excuse in the world, not to mention piss poor customer service.
The problem is we do not live in the future, we live in the now, and here in the now we have done almost all there is to do, seen all there is to see (legendary carto ftw), our armors still clip, the black dye is still splotchy, the lag is horrible, along with the promise of no new content.
You see we have already PAID for THIS game, we also in doing so, paid for the support and continued patches to fix/maintain said game.
If the "idea" of creating gw2 came into being during the design of Nightfall/EoTN. Then isn't this a classic case of "bait and switch"?, an illegal con-artist practice? Knowingly releasing faulty/bad game to promote a different ,better, newer game?
I am not suggesting to pull designers from the development of gw2, but perhaps some of the CEO's should/need to skip the catered caviar and lobster dinners to hire people to resolve known issues and keep gw1 alive.
No one expects or wants to put off the newer game but the general feeling of abandonment and lack of concern is disturbing. If this is apart of your "business model" I think it needs to be re planned if/when there will be a gw3, so gw2 owners are not left with that "I just got mugged" feeling.
Best regards.

It would be worth dreaming, if anet would give us at least hope, by saying, that, if we work out a real good concept together, that it might be possible, that once GW2 is out, that they will overlook our Concept Project and will see, what they can make out of it in the future for eventual new content for GW1 to fix some of the major flaws of the game and to give the game some features, that are heavily wished by the community base, so that GW1 uses more of its possible potential, the game has.
Some Add ons, which could also make out of GW1 hopefuly a game without any regrets, that forces players to play mainly only 1 character, if you ever want to reach something in the game ... imo the most biggest flaw of GW, since Factions - GW being totally multi character unfriendly, unlike the time, when only Prophecies existed, where it was regardless, how many characters you've been playing, because at that point the game was not so flooded with retarded grind.
Also like mentioned, those add ons could especially make the relation of the world map better, about % of explorable areas and the huge amount of the GW world, which is just only stupid filler and unexplorable...
The System of Factions was from the begin on a bad joke imo, way too less thought out and too tiny. An Add On could/should add to the game more factions, other then only Luxons/Kurzicks. The game needs like 3-4 more factions and the ganme can easily offer these:
- Canthan Empire
- Obsidian Flame
- Am Fah
- Jade Brotherhood
And with more factions the Add on should give the game also more competitive missions like Fort Aspenwood. Just only 2 of them is way too less and was ever... especially when one is so boring, that the comminity plays only just on 99,9% just Fort Aspenwood.
The Map of Cantha offers enough empty unused space to give the game easily 5+ more outposts for competitive missions.
Also those add ons could give factions and nightfall some more Dungeons !!, must not be direct like 18 dungeons like for tyria, but maybe a handful, so 5 or 6 dungeons for factions would be enough
I could imagine Dungeons like these for Factions:
Little bigger Island under Shing Jea:
1 Outpost with 1 big explorable area, for example a Tengu Village and the explorable area are the "Golden Plains of Garuda" whihc would lead to the Dungeon of the "Tree of Life Yggdrasill" which would be a real large dungeon with 10 stages, an real elite dungeon.
There you would fight huge Birds, mutated Plants and Insects and other stuff you could expect from a huge Tree Dungeon
Southside of the Jade Sea:
Create the from kuunavangs Temple a pathway that leads to another Outpost to the Southeast of the Jade Sea.
The explorable Area goes beyond the Mountains at the corner edge of the map ,where we will see than fo example the rest of Canthan Continent, we can't see yet, like also EotN added a bit more to the Map.
This part of the jade Sea, this explorable Area would be called for example the "Ship Churchyard" a huge area with lots of wrecked ships.
This area would be full of Ghosts and Undeads of the Crews of the sunken ships there. Before you reach the mounts at the corner edge, you have tp pass 2 another explorable ares.
1 Being the "Pernudae Delta" (*cough* Bermuda Triangle), where you will encounter 1 special Boss Enemy a la Rotscale, there you will also find the next Dungeon the "Ghost Ship", a small Dungeon with 3 Stages *ok, theoreticaly it could be smaller, but lets say lots of illusions will make it look alot bigger, than its in real XD*
The next explorable area after the Pernudae Delta would be the "Sea of the Undines".
When you go through it, you will land at an outpost at the Mountain Area, which could be a hidden Hideout of the Jade Brotherhood, their Main Town which could be the origin of them.
And behind these mountains we will see then the additional ares, where the other factions will have their areas, where the war is more focues between the Am fah, the Jade Brotherhood and especially the Canthan Empire.
On the other Side will be then the real Main City of the Canthan Empire, where the Emperor's Palace will be. however, thans the other big point of a possible FA Add on.
on the northeast side of Cantha past the mountain could be another outpost with 1 explorable area, a pathy way leading to it over the Bai Paasu Hills by traveling with a boat over the river to the northside.
The could be a hidden village of the Obsidian Flame and there could/should be then another elite dungeon. I suggest to put the finally another realm of a god.
There could be a forest explorable area, that leads to a Temple of Melandru and when you get there the Blessing of Nature, you get warped then into the Dungeon that is in the forest of the little island.
The huge western side of kaineng that is unused could be used for some competitive missions between the Am Fah/jade brotherhodd and the Canthan Empire.
if there really existed 1 Campaign ,that really needs an Add On, than its at 100% Factions !!!
TheRaven
While I would love to see more content like you're describing added to the game, I also know that such content would take an enormous amount of developer time to do properly. The 1 thing that I really hate about GW:EN is the re-used dungeon levels. It's just plain cheesy to warp into Slaver's Exile and see the same dungeon level I just went thru in Rragar's Menagerie.
But at the time GW:EN was being developed, GW2 was already in the works and the developers made this decision to re-use levels in order to create more dungeons faster.
I would like to see smaller changes added to GW1. I think these would go a long ways towards improving community relations. Fix the armor clipping. Add sort options to the hero selections. Add an option to display only locked skills and items in the Priest of Balthazar reward list. Small things that wouldn't take much dev time but that would make a big difference in gameplay.

We do have a team dedicated to working on QA for GW1, working on fixing thousands and thousands of bugs, in addition to supporting stuff like the in-game special events. However, the creation of brand new GW1 content would be the subject of a huge discussion here, because there are resource allocation issues to consider. To put it plainly, we do not have infinite developer resources to devote to GW1. The priority of the developers for creating new content is GW2. However, we are still dedicated to supporting GW1 by working on existing bugs in the game. Again, there is the issue of resource allocation within teams. There are only so many people within a team and there are only so many hours in a day, and we all have personal lives we need to balance against our work lives. There is no caviar and lobster here, just people working as hard as they can to support the existing game as well as work on the new one. It's unfortunate that you feel that GW1 has been "abandoned", but it's not the case. As I outlined above, there is a team that only works on GW1 QA issues.
We are reading your feedback, and just because feedback is not implemented doesn't mean it's ignored.

An area, which got until today way too less recognition of anet's assitants.
I'd like it, if more often would look someone of Anet, or you to name a person ^^ would look into the serious Concept Classes and would post there soemthign about them, like posting somethign maybe about the possible chance to see something similar liek the CC maybe in GW2.
Alone to see, that you would post something in a CC thread, would ensure their creators, that someone of Anet has SEEN the concept.
Also alone to hear, what you personally think about our CC's would be nice to know, maybe we got soem ideas for a profession you would also very like to play later in GW2.
The Concept Class Area screams for Feedback from any Anet Assistants or especially YOU !!
my 2 cents
