Most well-known PvE guilds?
3 pages • Page 1
Define 'well known?' Most guilds are only known about within a very limited aspect. For examples Guilds that are mentioned on here a lot are probably completley unknown on say German, Polish or even other fan forums. It's not being well known that counts, it's how much you contribute in a positive way IMHO.

On topic:
SMS, GR, Rare, ZoS, DVDF, LOD, SNOW, GoE, SoF come to mind.
There's large 700+ alliances like the Shinra (?) guild group, but I've only seen them advertising.
Guilds like Sins and any make themselves known by their control of towns. And at least in the past, it worked.
TAM's trying to make itself known; we get about an application a day

For a PvE guild to be well known, it has to be either:
1) Good/decent with some quality control (SMS, TAM)
2) Have a huge alliance but are on average bad (LaZy, XoO)
3) Hold towns, but are bad regardless (any, Sins)
4) Really old guilds (ZoS, SMS)
As you can see, it's usually size and age that make PvE guilds well-known. However, some guilds show that they can still do it through quality.

I personally think dR is the most well-known PvE guild. They are great PvErs and I'm fairly sure they are very well known. I mean like who doesn't know divine, god walking amongst mere mortals?
On a serious note, 3 that come to mind without really thinking would be SMS, DVDF, and LaZy. Back when running was popular, LBS were very well-known for their running reputation (great service, horrible price
).

Two "well-known" guilds that I've noticed purely through observation that stand out in a positive manner to me are SMS and DVDF.
Why these two guilds?
*The names of these guilds are known all over.
*They've contributed positively to the Guild Wars community on many occasions.
*You do not see their members doing stupid stuff in towns giving their guilds bad names.
Being "well-known" doesn't necessarily mean that a guild is of good quality. But with SMS and DVDF, from what I've seen, their reputation is positive, and for good reason.
