Make treasure chests in the desert of prophecies campaign

If they wanted to add treasure chests, buried treasures, etc. then why would they limit themselves to the Crystal Desert? Also it's not like the treasures add much depth to the game either, they're kind of just easy money and then useless when they've been used. It would be nice to actually hear some argument as to why they should put them in Prophecies...

Edit: natural_Causes: I think he means the one-time use hidden treasures that are scattered around Elona.

You mean like the Nightfall Treasures?

Well, that kind of Treasure is exclusive of Nightfall.

I would agree if there where Treasures in Nightfall and Factions, but not in Prophecies, but it's not the case.

Since Eye of the North has the Hidden treasures, I'd go for something different, and make each region have an unique type of Treasure.

- Prophecies: Secret stash. Treasures that randomly appear in explorable areas anywhere, like Chests, but already opened and much less frequently, unlike chests. They will contain many low-value items, instead a single valuable one. In lore, they would be secret vaults that monsters stored.
- Factions: Rendition booty. Treasures that may appear anytime you defeat a certain number of creatures and bosses of certain species. Once you fill the 'quota', they will appear the next time you kill a boss of that species. The numbre required for a certain species will be variable and random, and unkown to the player. They will contain a valuable drop related to that species (like a naga bow for nagas or a celestial item for Tengu)
- Nightfall: Treasures. Treasures in fixed spots that can be opened once a month (aprox.)
- Eye of the North: Hidden Treasures. Treasures in fixed spots that can be opened anytime a player uses Light of Deldrimor. They ay contain a little gold or a rare material piece.

It would be kind of nice to see more Hidden Stashes all across Tyria not just in Pre Searing.

Yup, thats why I suggest them fro Prophecies.

But in this case they would be 'secret' because they would be MUCH less frequent.

Why limit it to the desert? Introduce them to all explorables, in every campaign.

I do recall there being 'hidden stashes' in Tryia. I remember there being one right outside THK that got abused. Also 2 in the zone where the big necro wurm boss (I forget the name), which was a treasure trove for purple crystalline swords and other rare skins. I want to say there was one in the western Kryta area as well. All were taken out awhile back.
I think the Kilroy Stoneskin quest in Sorrows Furnace still have the 4 there.

Those were what all locked chests used to be like. They didn't require a key.
The ones being propossed would only drop stuff once every month (and therefore not be abused/overfarmed).

I guess it could be nice, and may bring people to go back to an area they haven't returned to since their first character.

Bring back the old good Arid Sea infinite free treasures!
And while you're at it, the Dreadnought Drift strongboxes too

But seriously, I agree that Prophecies could use some love in form of some kind of a treasure. Just make it random, unpredictable and not farmable (not repeatable by simply running through the desert maps). It's not a call for more freebies, as the search, the treasure hunt can be more fun than just receiving a free gift. It's not that it's needed because it's not, but it would be nice to have something, more content = better, obv.

Nightfall introduced them. Factions has none, Prophecies has none, and GW:EN has none. Even the Hidden Treasures in dungeons in GW:EN have different rewards, they aren't the same. If they added them, they would need to add them everywhere. They do not need to add them though, as they are a poor mans way of making money, and don't offer anything to the game.

Trust me, it doesn't hurt much to give some explaining along with your post.

And they take nothing away from it either, so what is the harm?

Unless getting people to actually play in areas once a month is bad.

Problem here is the treasures in NF give inscriptable items... if the same logic is used... isn't this introducing such items to prophecies and factions where they are not at the moment...

Plus it then means even more chests to run on many characters every month....
