I was thinking of giving up on gw BUT....
reanimatorX
I might have to try factions first. guildwars is getting dull and im just waiting til my birthday to get a different one (although GW will always be a part of me like the rest of my games, and the acct will still be there for later)
BUT, and this is a huge but. (pun intended)
I might try out factions before i totally leave (for a bit) because assassins look pretty cool and remind me of rogues on WoW.
I dont want to leave (for a bit) but GW seems to be getting stale because of all the same things over and over, and the fact that all the gear/weapons/etc have the same stats, and it seem pointless to me to grind for titles and stuff that doesnt improve on my overall gameplay.
I perver PvE over PvP which is one of the reasons that I like WoW, the quest rewards accually compell me to do the quests and I can use the items that i get from them.
do you think that assassins and factions are fun enough for me to stay playing guildwars or should I just leave (for a bit) and go back to WoW (which I will play anyway even if i stay)?

Theres no point in buying factions only to quit, so ima say just go do whatever it is that takes your fancy.

There should be a limit on how many threads can someone start in a day.. or week.

The Factions chapter is pretty easy and quick to finish. You will spend money and be bored again within days after beating Factions. Factions towns are mostly deserted by the way. But hey if you want to spend the money to play like a week or two longer it's all up to you.

Stolen Souls
If you're really bored of GW, getting Factions and making a sin will only hold your interest for so long, before you find yourself bored and wanting to quit again. It's your choice...doesn't seem worth it imo.

I might just go and give it away to lowbies then.

So you are asking US if you would like 'sins enough to keep playing this game?
Erm....no you won't like playing as an assassin because you don't like to fight up close. Furthermore, you are easily annoyed by the sounds the daggers make, so after 2-3 hours you will be suffering from a tremendous headache.
So...yeah, just quit GW and be done with it.

and maybe someday you'll learn you dont have to give your words an edge either.
Assassins are fun in pve, so i suggest trying out factions!
reanimatorX
I like melee except when i get lodged between 2 enemies and they make me stop. also noises don't annoy me. but I think Factions probably costs $30-$40 so would it be worth it? especially since so many people are saying its easy?
Toutatis
My honest opinion would be to take a break from GW. Factions is a good campaign, but it's short and sweet. The assassin and ritualist are great fun to play, but in the end you'd just be getting back to the general grind.
If you feel that GW is getting stale for you then buying a new chapter won't cure the underlying issue. Take a break from GW and play another game for a while, and come back to GW when you feel like you want to play it again (your account and characters will remain the same no matter how long you leave them).

Vendetta Wish
I have beaten Prof and Gwen and started Factions a couple of weeks ago. I do not like the game play as well as the others nor how the missions are set up. As far as playing a SIN, I started one and found that it does not perform very well in PvE. When I got to a point that I could jump over to PvP however I really got into the SIN. Whole different experience playing in the arena vs my other char. War/Monk and Necro/Monk. I play the SIN in PvP and do very little PvE with him.
Serenitysong
Personally, I enjoy factions. Sins have alot of potiential but it seems like only a handful of people learn to play them well. I love Rits, the Forest and Alliance Battles. However, the Factions story line is pretty weak and you can finish it very quickly. The towns are empty and without a strong guild to back you up you will have to rely on h/h to finish it. To answer you question: I don't think Factions will help you enjoy the game again. With your friends list shrinking and your growing boredom it may be time to take a break.

The best thing about GW is the fact that you can drop it and not play it for a few months.
Then just reinstall it and carry on with what you were doing.

I agree. Leave the game. I did. Things got boring so I switched to WoW for awhile, and maybe will switch back later. There is no monthly fee so your not really losing out on anything if you leave GW for awhile.
Vague Twilight
My boyfriend uses Assassin for EVERYTHING. PvE, PvP, farming, title grabbing, anything you can possibly do, he uses him.
But all of those things can be done without an Assassin, separately or altogether. If you're bored with the game, making a new character won't really change gameplay all that much.

Factions is fun for a bit. I enjoyed it. Like the other chapters though, you'll eventually tire of it because:

Get Factions and grind for max Lux/Kurz rep. It should take you a while.
Then get EoTN and grind for max rep.
There is grind to be found, but it's for PvE only skills, not weapons.

Yeah just quit factions is boring.
Dr Strangelove
Factions was by far the best campaign, everyone else is wrong.
If the base gameplay isn't fun for you though, I wouldn't throw more cash at the problem.

I think Factions is awesome, way better than sandy Nightfall........ if you want something new to spice up your playing, get Factions. Just don't try to beat it in like 2 days, that defeats the purpose.
Chasing Squirrels
Watch out cause assassins in guild wars can not use stealth/cloaking. But they can teleport onto enemies and they are anorexic. If you do make one try not to name him X Naruto X. Also factions only has 13 missions.

Diablo???
The only difference between giving up and taking a break, is never looking back, and unlike a cheap girlfriend or WoW, guildwars won't bug you about money if you do.
the savage nornbear
ive left and come back several times. im willing to bet if you quit for a few months, you'll be back soon. in fact when i quit, i was unable to completely stop checking the forums for skill updates and new build ideas.

The misconception is that you actually gain nothing by getting a 10% more damaging weapon if your foes have 10% more HP, too.
This should also not really be the great fun factor in a game.
It is a hamster wheel that keeps you going, and it is prominent in WoW and other achievement-style MMOs, where ultra-uber gear then drops from the first trashmob in the next expansion that you did not get in super hard 25 man raids before.
GW was great without the grind for ever better equipment.
Maybe it is just not your style, nothing wrong with that. I am playing another game based on the hamster wheel principle at the moment, too. This should not make us forget that it game concept is actually still that of a hamster wheel to keep you going and subscribed.
