Greying out heroes

They won't get any drops if they are out of radar range.

I think they still get a share of gold, though.

you will get all drops but they will take their part of the gold.

This is interesting for Raptor farming, you would get 3 times as many event drops, just by flagging heroes out of radar range.

special event items, as well as dyes, rares, and tomes (the only thing 4 things worth picking up while raptor farming) are exempt from loot scaling.

By that logic having a full party of 8 would increase your event drops 8x...it doesn't work that way.
The drop system "appears" to generate all lootscale-exempt monster drops on instance generation. The total number of lootscale-exempt items appears to be fixed for that zone, then split up amongst the party when creature x drops item y. This is an assumption based on Skinny Corpse's research into time-synced instances, read the SoJ vs SV thread for more info. There is variance when it comes to chalk drops, i won't get into that discussion so refer again to Skinny's thread.
As a solo farmer you get lootscale-exempt items that otherwise would have been assigned to other radar-range party members. Take a full party with you into the cave and you'll likely see 1/8th the amount of lootscale-exempt drops. Flagging heroes off radar does increase your odds of golds / greens etc dropping because there's a chance you'll be assigned a drop that would otherwise be assigned to one of them.
The same behaviour can be seen by farming in a PuG - if one person strays off radar they no longer receive drops, those drops are given to other radar-range players instead. It's a reward system for participation and a penalty for going AFK. They do still get a share of the party gold.
Again this is just an assumption but it seems to be the way the drop system works.

Wait a sec so flagging a party off screen WOULD increase gold/green drop rate?Say I take my W/Rt in Raptor cave after flagging my H&H at the Rata Sum Portal.Instead of a typical 8 item drop while solo,my drop rate might go to 10-12 with(for instance)4 gold drops?

Ok Anti you have always been dead on the money EVERY time you have EVER gave an answer. Here I just want to make sure I understand this in it's fullness. If I take a party with me I CAN increase my drops SO LONG AS they are out of radar range when I kill raptors? If this is truly so,this is just amazing what you could possibly do with farming. Not to mention I would believe that there should be quite a few NEW farming areas open up with this information.
