Pets?
Namira
Are there any pets in Guild Wars like in WoW? Whether actual pets, demons, or the undead.

yea. ranger or ranger secondarys can cap pets. I'm assuming that you only have proph, so you can get: bear, wartog, moa, spider, dune lizard, stalker, and wolf. i think thats it.

I plan on buying Nightfall as I don't actually own the game.

There are myriad animals available to charm, but the differences among them are minimal. Pets are pretty much the same across the board; there is one variable inherent to the animal and one more that can be manipulated by the player.
The first difference is the type damage they deal. Some deal slashing damage, while others inflict piercing damage. This distinction rarely (if ever) has an effect on gameplay.
The other variable is a result of how the pet is treated. Depending on how you utilize the animal, it adopts one of three personalities: increased damage/reduced health, decreased damage/increased health, and a neutral state.
On a larger note, don't dive into Guild Wars expecting it to be like other MMOs but free. You'll just be frustrated. GW has (had) a unique identity unto itself and should be approached as such.

also im under the impression that having a pet in Wow allows you to basically solo. dont count on a pet to do that in guild wars. they're kind of novelty thing, which can be semi-effective.

there are ranger pets
usuable by any class if they have ranger as their secondary proffession
pet attacks r commanded via taking up skill slots on ur bar
there r pve summon skills--ruby djinn, ice imp, etc...
any class can use em...
each one is a diff element, and comes wit a unique spell which is automatically used
then there r necro minions that r summoned by exploiting corpses
different kinds of minions...melee, range, etc...
maximum of 10 at one time
generally only limited to necs & rits

since the OP also mentioned demons and undead: the necromancer class can be a "minion master", turning corpses in his personal slaves. Guess you could call them pets
