get the second one, with the quad. on the second one, the quad has better benchmarks than the amd x2 6400. the first has 8800gt's in SLI but the second has the 8800gt with 1gb memory.

my problem is ive heard vista is a memory HOG

so im leaning for a 4GB type of PC so it can handle vista no problem

Oh, then that much power isn't really necessary for you. I have an e6300 processor with an 8600gt and I can run GW and Rise of Legends on max settings, which is a lot more demanding than Age of Empires. My brother has an AMD x2 4200+ with 2gb RAM, and his computer runs vista just fine, so I don't think you have any need for 4gb. IMO 4gb is overkill for now.

EDIT: I take that back, I don't know about Gateways...

Actually, I think I just contradicted myself, seeing that this comp has 4gb RAM, and a more powerful processor. lol. It's a lot cheaper tho.

I myself have no idea...I have always bought HP's, then used my own PSU and video card. That particular computer has no reviews though. Consider these:

I think either should handle what you do nicely. I personally don't like big companies like HP and Gateway, because it's harder to customize them and they don't use as quality parts. I would suggest getting either one of these two.

Comparing the processors, the q6600 is superior to the phenom 9500, but the 8800gt is far superior to the 8600gt. I would get the q6600 computer, but I put the other link so you would have a choice for a better video card. You can always buy a video card later on, so my final say is the one with the q6600.

I think that one is fine. The q6600 is better than the x2 6400, and you can buy another 8800gt if you feel for the need of more power.
