I've been playing a lot of slaver's lately in Pugs.

Is it me or is there a lot more rage quitting monks lately? If the party wipes or loses a few in the 1st fight bang, there outa there! Or if the party deviates slightly from the same ole same ole it proves your a noob and bang there outa there!

1) First story we get half way through forgewight the party is pretty good not brilliant but going ok we make it to the darkwatcher to get the key. One of the party aggros the summit on the left side big fight ensues 5 of the party wipe but i managed to grab the key so no big deal i have clovers, so on we go? ... The monk says" thats it u noobs im going seriously" and he leaves the other monk instantly follows? everyone resigns back to town new group do over?

2) Forgewight again we enter dungeon tanks says ready? goes straight ahead we take that group out 2 eles die got to close to the burning spirits 2 poeple say y did u do that u went the wrong way?(seriously this group is killed later anyways does the order matter?) one monk leaves everyone resigns...

3) Playing Duncan hm i use an essence of celerity we're using ursan so we are kicking butt easy peasy get to dunk fast! People start having a discussion on who has protective spirit for the necro? Turns out no one brought it everyone panics few resign .. then everyone turns ursan runs up attacks Duncan and dies! ?? few more resign time to give up least no-one had left...

So i say well we have 2 monks and im a rit healer resto 16 / ursan i think we can do it sure enough no problem necro swaps spirits kills Dunk fast as.. 3 healers heal necro np..

Anyone have any other pug stories?

and u monks calm down and think about it don't be so quick to resign and or leave its rude and inconsiderate......

If you're not a 12yr old my apologies but u sure are acting like one..

Gmonster out...

ESRB rates the game at 13+. And even then you have to play under the name of your parent/guardian.

Have you ever played as a Monk in PvE? You might figure out why Monks quit often at the first sight of trouble.

And this thread's title isn't rude and inconsiderate?
Can I ask you a question...

What were you thinking when you made this thread?

YEAH! Don't PUG, 'cause everyone knows that PUGs are made up of nothing but pre-pubescent poopy-heads. Blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

What I don't understand is that if PUGs are so bad, then why I've rarely, and I mean rarely, had the problems with PUGs that people describe here on guru.

Imo Pugs are terrible, I usually don't pug and still do good.

I'm sure you can do the same ^

I rarely pug...but!

One time while doing Raisu Palace I had a dervish who was using firestorm/meteor on his bar and would NOT let go of the control key so everything he did was spammed on the screen. Everyone in the party kept telling him to turn it off and all he did was spam more while saying, "U GUIZ BAD"

When Slavers was first discovered i lived there for about 2 months. The number of people who rage quit in PUGs there is pretty high, and it's not just the monks. The slightest setback and some people just storm off in a huff. Sometimes it's warranted, sometimes it isn't.

I've been guilty of rage quitting there a few times myself. Usually when you get someone flaming you for not doing your job properly when it isn't your fault is when i call time on them. Like for instance, i'm playing a Rt/R with FS, i put FS down well clear of any enemy groups but still close enough to affect them, the tank fudges the aggro (it happens) or an ele decides to start nuking too early and you get the inevitable aggro break. The enemy come streaming in and at some point FS gets flattened. So, i back off with everyone else, get to the point where aggro is semi under control again and re-place FS as soon as i can. Aggro breaks again, people start moving back again, FS gets flattened again, wash, rinse, repeat. Trying to keep up a fragile spirit on a 30 sec recharge isn't exactly easy when people won't stand their ground, exposing the spirit to the enemy. And while all this is going on there's 1-2 people in the group screaming "FS!!1!!!1" and "OMG FS NUB!!", etc at me, as if i don't know it's down. I kindly inform them to shut the ***k up. Same thing happens at the next group. By this point i've had enough, anger level is rising and i don't play this game to get pissed off, so i leave explaining why. If it wasn't for all the screaming i'd stay on and finish but i refuse to team with people like that.

Other times i've seen people quit for no reason that i can figure out. The group's doing ok, we're 70% of the way through, a small hiccup happens and a monk drops. One or two other people drop as a result so we break aggro and regroup. It happens. Then out of the blue one monk, or the tank decides they've had enough and quits. No-one was insulting, no-one was placing any blame. We's just back off and take 2 mins to recover and they'd quit. No reason.

Other times i've been in groups that have been a train wreck and for some reason i haven't left. If i find a group that bad i'll usually leave at the start so i'm not wasting too much time for those who can actually play. Although usually at some point someone else will leave making a bad group even worse and eventually leading to the group falling apart.

Stop hogging the good pugs! :P

I have those problems a lot... sometimes coming from people who once appeared mature, but most of the time coming from the guy who barely replies, and the times he does it's in 1337speak.

If I tell them what to do, they don't like my way and whine. If I don't, I'm a noob. Then they leeroy, they don't care for the monks' energy - or anyone else's - they don't want this, they don't want that... bonus, no bonus, masters, no masters... they have quests affecting your current one even though you specified like 10 times to get rid of all quests, they lie about cons sets, they go AFK without warning for 20 minutes or leech the whole mission. They don't take advice and call you a noob to criticizing their awesome build... when they ask for advice!

So in general, I try to avoid PUGgging and either play with H/H or my friends/alliance. I'm a moron-magnet, I swear to god. Only a handful PUGs have gone really well for me.

My 7 year old nephew beat Thunderhead Keep without my help (no lie) with his necro. He only used H/Hs with limited skill selection on his account. I bet he wouldn't have been able to do it if he was in a PUG.

Btw, he just turned 8 last couple weeks.

Edit:

I prohibit him from joining pugs anyway since he's not supposed to chat with strangers and local is always turned off.

Pugs do alright when they listen to you. I usually stay quiet when i go 'pugging' up until the party seems to have difficulty and the guy who thinks he knows it all because he tried to do it and got "95%" of the way there begins to forget where to go next. Then i decide to give orders. unfortunately, yes it is rather irritating when you come across that warrior/monk wearing shing jea armour with a goldleaf defender.

I always leave if the team is close to wiped out on the first mob...chances are you're not going to make it to the end of the mission, and I for one don't want to waste my time trying for a mission that isn't going to be completed with that team. I've played the game for three years and I really don't have the time to babysit people who don't know how to call or fight without over-aggro... which is why I don't PUG if I can help it...

I find that monks for ursan groups are A LOT more irritable than your average monk...... coincidence? I think not.

Looking around this forum, I'd think that Kula's decision to prohibit his young nephew from interacting with people on the internet is a bloody smart decision. The world doesn't need another brain-addled, self-absorbed troll, kthx.

Kudos to Kula for giving a damn *huggle*

Thing is, you never know how old anyone is.

I could say I'm 5, or I could say im 95. No one can prove you wrong or argue with you. It's how you portray yourself on the Internet.

on the topic of Kula, I'll say i think its a bit of an over reaction to turn off local and prohibit talking with strangers. Personaly I've never had some one I've met in GW ask about me, my life, where I live or what I do in real life. Most people just don't care about other peoples lives, and for good reason. They have their problems I have mine, why would I need to hear about theirs and why would they want to hear about mine?

On the PUG topic, most of the PUGs I do are Ursan point farms or missions. Missions are less PUG and more H/H since Nightfall and the point farm is the fastest way to get to r10 Norn for my people know me title.

Funny PUG story's for me ussualy involve a bad tank that over aggro, a bad monk who puts Agies up when there are only ele's, necros or mezmers (that was me ) or taking a quest in UW that i wasn't sapposed to (yea that one was bad).

My hero monks never rage on me. They never get pissed at me for stepping away from the keyboard for five minutes to take a leak or get a drink. They don't try to take control of the group, raging when some members disagree with them. They don't let half the group die, then say "Oh sorry! I'm watching a movie!" They don't try to pull absurd stunts, like trying to charge for their leet Monking services.

PuGs fail. Heros win.
