Hi all I was wondering what program everyone else uses to record their clips from video games.

I've tried WeGame and after the first time of it working all I now get is a black screen and the game sound despite having the right codec's installed. I've also tried Fraps which causes my system to lag so badly that its pointless using it. The third Program I've used is Gamecam but the trial version has a 1 minute limit and I don't really want to pay out for a program that I mean not end up using that often. the last program I used is the video part of X-Fire but the graphic quality is not wonderful and it doesn't record sound. so I was wondering if any one else used anything different or if anyone could recommend a program for me.

thanks in advance for any replies

You could record a series of 1 minute clips and then splice them together using a movie-maker programme that came with your computer operating system. It's a system that works nicely if you're putting a guide together....the cuts can be covered with info inserts (list of skills used, for example).

If you're looking for anything longer than 1 minute, you'll probably have to buy a programme. Fraps caused me lots of problems with the free version, but gamecam works nicely for me.

Fraps is usualy the best but he makes HUGE files and yes it`s very stressful for PC.Gamecam gave poor results for me, i think some earlier versions of Gamecam didn`t have timelimit, they used water mark of their logo if program was not bought maybe u can try with that !!!

i use ZD Soft Game Recorder
it works wonders and it doesn't create a 1 gig file for a 30 sec clip
it gives you more options if you pay, but free version works fine
