boss farm with pain inverter ?
shaygo
Hi there,
does anyone use pain inverter in a 55hp based build ?
the thing is i don't have SV so i cant use the N/Mo boss farm build.
I know that PI has a short duration and pretty long recharge but...
did anyone try to become a 55 Mo/Mes and echo it ?
or the N/Mo build with SS ?

Since the maximum damage an enemy can do to you is 5 as a 55 monk, the maximum damage you'll do back is 12. With 12 damage everytime a boss damages you for 5 seconds every 20 seconds, you won't manage to kill it.
This is r10 asuran too btw.

However slap pain inverter on a spirit bond/ smite build and it could add some decent damage to a boss without using an elite such as SS or VWK.

This is r10 asuran too btw. Pain Inverter calculates the damage before Prot Spirit and other effects, so you can still do 80 with it.
EDIT: As for the merits of it, I guess it could work as a supplement to another damage skill/health loss skill like SV. I don't know about using it as your lone damage skill, since I use my E/A for all my farming. >_>

Just tried with my Ranger, using Prot. Spirit. doing 116% of the damage (asuran rank 5-6 i think).... i only reverted a 9 9 9 9 damage.. so... no. It doesnt work with prot. spirit on.
And btw, i think all of you havent thought about a 600hp monk "alone" without smiter?
Crazy.. but you get about 60 dmg to trigger Spiritual bond so.... it can revert about 60-80dmg just like a smiter.. for X seconds (where X is so few to consider it)

Here is alittle SV build I put together awhile ago, it does massive damage to a single foe. I never really bother to post it anywheres... It uses 105hp as N/Mo, similar to the regular SV, but puts out alot more damage. It works great for farming Bladed Aatxes in UW, Norn Tourney, and I am sure it works will work good on bosses too. SoA can be an optional slot, it is recommend for taking on boss mobs. If you doing Norn Tourney, or Pulling Boss, Signet of Lost Souls can be good for extra energy and health when needed. Mending Touch can be good for Condition Areas.
It will do 180 damage to enemy each time they hit you for the duration of Pain Inverter, plus you can use Necrosis to add even more damage. My necrosis does 80 damage, so thats 260 dmg spike. It is good to wait acouple seconds after using Spoil Victor to use Pain Inverter, so Pain Inverter will last long enough to finish the enemy off... but if anything, you can use Necrosis to kill them.
[build= prof=n/mo blo=11+3+1 pro=12 sou=6+3 name="105hp SV Painful Spirit Bonder" box][Spoil Victor][Pain Inverter][Necrosis][protective spirit][spirit bond][Shield of Absorption][essence bond][balthazar's spirit][/build]
SoA can be an optional slot, it is recommend for taking on boss mobs. If you doing Norn Tourney, or pulling the boss away from mob, [Signet of Lost Souls] can be good for extra energy and health when needed. [Mending Touch] can be good for Condition Areas. You can also put your Protection down to 10 and put some points in Healing for [healing breeze]. Can also take all your Soul Reaping points out if needed for anything else. There is plenty of points that can be used for anything you want. You can also use 15 curses for SS if you need to, but SV would be best. Just unlock SV with some Balthazar faction and get a Elite Necro Tome if you have to.
Also need 15AL for Spirit Bond, and the usual farming staff or caster weapon set.
Have fun, let me know how it works out on bosses, never actually tested it all that much. Might have to make a guide for it. It is probably not the safest, but if you can find the right bosses that can be easily managed... you should be all set.
[Blood renewal] will also be good for regen in Condition areas as it is only 1 energy now, so you won't have no problems with energy using it. [Touch of Agony] or [Wallow's Bite] are both good options for replacing Necrosis, they only 1 energy which can make all the difference in finishing off an enemy with low energy.

Please explain this then. Either it works with prot spirit on or my Asuran rank is over 9000.

Pain Inverter works with Protective Spirit, you mainly need to use Spirit Bond with it, along with 5-15AL Armor... I been using Pain Inverter with my 330hp build for awhile, and it triggers max damage almost everytime, except for those weak azz enemies.
Sethellington
bear in mind that bosses in istan and prophecies have Natural Resitance. So PI will last only 3-5 secs.

I just killed Elsnil frigidheart 3 times in a row in HM with basic 55hp N/Mo
using SS and PI ( blood renewal variant ).
so it works.
just have to find more bosses suitable for this build.

Sticking pain inverter in invincibuilds is awesome, especially with things like SV. ReZZDoGG posted a nice 105SV option with Pain inverter - sometimes you just need that much damage to kill difficult healers or something. it also makes 55SV general farming a lot faster - sometimes, if i'm feeling cocky (thanks to the new Spirit Bond) i drop SoA altogether for Finish Him! or something to that effect. might as well add as much damage to a 55SV bar as you can, especially in easier areas.
Shing Jea in HM is a perfect example - there's not much besides raw damage there, and versus the harder hitting enemies, SV + Pain Inverter are a match made in heaven. you can also afford to fit more damage, like You Move Like a Dwarf or Finish Him, or something.

Hi fuzzy, always happy to have you in a thread.
did you use this build against other EOTN bosses ?
by the way, johon's wolves killed me in HM, SS didn't scatter them for me...

the usual SV'able bosses will die to that build, just a bit faster.
one boss i like to farm is Chkkr Brightclaw - you need every bit of that damage to take him down. pull a group for energy, pull him with a long/flatbow, and catch Pain Inverter on his Splinter weapon. he'll rip right through the melees on you, keeping the Dragon Moss alive for energy. it's a nice chance at elite rit tomes, too. fun stuff.

Yup, he is good to farm with it. He was my first boss to really put it to the test on. I went ahead and killed that one patrolling group of a Dragon Moss, Kirin, and Undergroth first, then pull the boss alone... should have enough energy to kill him if you took [signet of lost souls], he goes down rather fast. That patrolling group also attacks him, so it would be good to take them out to avoid killing your drops if that group finishes him off, but might not be an issue with SV and Pain Inverter. Another place it might farm Elite Rit tomes would be the Glacial Griffon in EotN, pull him away from spirits and take him out, abandon quest, repeat. I was goin to try it on him, but my necro need to do the requirement quest first. I usually just farm that Griffon in HM with my Sin.
It also kills melee bosses pretty fast, such as that assassin boss in Kinya Province. You can also farm those Monks and Necro Mantids along for tomes, there is alot of them out there and the monks go down fast.
If we could put a list together for bosses that you can farm with that SV build I posted, I might make a small guide for it. I thought about it doin it along time ago, but didn't think people would use it. It works pretty good on Bladed Aatxe in HM, they go down fast if you avoid the interruptions... good for farming alil extra ectos with it.

go for it! if you need any help finding spots, i'm always here.
anyway, back on topic: Pain Inverter owns bosses and mobs with very fast damage, and considering you're solo, AoE won't matter. That's why i love Chkkr so much - his splinter Weapon, which triggers off of the patrol group, gets him about halfway dead by itself. as far as other farms go, and HM physicals should be easy, especially assassins because of double strike. the best part of the entire idea is that Pain Inverter is non-elite - whatever Pain Inverter won't help to kill, your elite will (SV, SS, SoJ, whatever.)
