I recently changed my secondary to a dervish simply so i can use avatar of balthazar and such but i have run into what is surely a common problem, i cannot buy any skills from skills traders!!
why is this and is there anything i can do besides buying tomes??

Are you trying to buy them in Nightfall areas?

avatars are under mysticism so no you wont be able to buy them, much like mesmer secondary fast casting.

If he was looking to buy the avatars from the skills trainers, he'd actually need to buy a signet of capture and capture the skill from the dead boss.
He can use it, but he can't enhance it with attribute points.

surely a skill with 10 sec duration but recharges for 120 secs isn't worth your elite, rather stick with your profession elite ^^

All of the avatar skills suck as a dervish secondary, since mysticism is dervish primary attribute and you won't be able to put any attribute points in it.

A reason you might not be able to buy skills is that if your from a compaign that doesnt support dervish, anything other than Nightfall or EoTN wont have dervish skills for sale
