I'm not sure if this idea has been bought up before as I don't browse this area of the forum much.
Anyway basically my idea is to bring a little more competitive play into PvE. I know there are the competitive missions already but I was thinking more head to head.
The idea is that you go to the missions outpost, make a team of 8 (Hopefully it would be organized, guild teams and such.). You would then enter the area with another team of 8. You would not be able to interact with the other team, they would be separated from you. Various enemies (I guess depending on the area) would come at you in waves and you would have to survive as many enemies as you could.
You would have a counter in the corner tells you how many foes you have killed (and maybe how many you opponent team has killed (this may lead to leavers if they get too far behind though)) then after the timer has run down (say 15 minutes) one team is declared the winner and the winning team gets a prize, maybe a chest with gold weapons drops or something.
Anyway that would be my idea, competitive PvE with prizes. I'm hoping it would get as much interest as guild battles and there would be team builds for it and such, you could even change the foes over time to change the meta.
Anyway hope you like the idea, this is pretty rough if you want any points cleared up just ask.
Cheers.

Marty Silverblade -> "I've got something to add: For every x kills you get something regardless (so if you face someone who'll dominate (*cough* Racthoh *cough*) theres point in staying), and an extra bonus comes to the team that wins. That way, theres emphasis on winning but there are still rewards if you lose (or else you would have just wasted 15 mins)."
New competitive PvE areas.

Hmmm, it's an interesting idea, I'll /sign.

So, two teams enter on the same map to competitively do the mission, but can't interact with each other?
Sounds a little confusing. The only way I can imagine it being competitive is if both teams were on their own instance and were racing against each other and stuff. If they were both on the same map, I'd care less about getting bonuses for speed and care more about there being 8 more players on this map helping me with the mission.

I think some people have the wrong idea, yes the teams would be in the same instance (so its head to head) but they are in different areas (you could just about see the other team on your mini-map) and can't get to the other teams area. They are not all just bunched in together.
The idea is that the team stays still and waves of foes come at them.
Or I could change it, each team could have a linear track in front of them (Not very wide, maybe 2-3 aggro bubbles wide) with enemies situated along it. You would have to fight and kill groups of enemies as you go along your teams track, the groups get harder and harder the further you go along. The other team would also have a track running parallel to yours but too far away to interact with, but you could see how far along the enemy team was (making it more competitive). If you team wipes you get teleported back to the beginning of the track and have to run to catch up. At the end of the track is a chest, a team can only open the chest if they have killed all the foes. Only the first team to kill all the foes gets the chest.
I prefer the idea of just fighting off waves of foes coming towards you but this other idea is an alternative. Or any other idea, keep them coming.
The main idea is just to have two teams seeing who can kill a set number of foes the fastest and still survive, being in the same instance would make it more fun, head to head and not to mention the fact that the teams can talk to each other in "all" chat, that could be fun ^^.
I'm not sure how to stop people from letting the other team win. Would it be prevalent, you would not get to pick the other team.

Oh and yes, I don't think PvE skills should be allowed. I want it to be more like PvP, not just a farming for chest items spot.

Isn't this basically just challenge missions but instead of a monthly/weekly scoreboard you have to compete against another team in real time?

The idea already sorta exists, and is pretty unpopular already (partly due to the existing rewards). Getting a team for a challenge mission is PAINFUL. Getting TWO so you can start would be a nightmare. A better option would be to improve/fix the rewards of the existing challenges and maybe add this competitive 2 team aspect as an option.
