Special Event finale fun! What do you think?

I was looking through the Guild Wars Memories on the GW site, and saw that people had loads of fun during the finales. There were conga lines, dance offs, massive sync dancing, quizzes, rock paper scissors games, massive amounts of elves or candymen (depending on festival) etc. So, i have decided to try to replicate these "parties". The next event like this would have to be the Dragon Festival in June/July. I need your opinion on whether this is a good idea. If so, I will try to do something like this at every festival with a finale (Wintersday, Halloween, Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year). This would be a problem at Wintersday though due to massive rubber-banding with present drops. However, this problem will be sorted if i recieve enough positive feed back from you lot. So what do all of you think? Massive amounts of fun and games to make your festival holiday better. What could be better?

I don't understand...

You're suggesting what people do on a normal occasion to be made into something that already exists...

It's like saying math is a four letter word only when it has the letter m in it... it already does and it already is!

Only noobs have fun in player set up parties. Seriously, a conga line? Remember there is no /congaline emote, so what are you gonna do? Follow the person in front of you?

One of many reasons why my Local chat is turned off.

Keep up the good work.

Favorite? To echo what was said above... Maybe a favorite of noobs... Sync Dancing and Conga... Wow, it is what I live for... What better way to spend an evening than to dance with a bunch of guys dressed in drag as a female Ele.

I'm getting a slight feeling this isn't going over too well with some; I'd be up for it; however, if I'm not there in 2 festivals, feel free to start without me...

Events were once special and rare. Now spoiled brats just come on, demand their hats and go off to farm for special drops, while speculating what next week will bring and how they can QQ some moar when its not an event they like(read profit from).

If you are trying to suggest hosting a player event, just know that it takes a lot of gold and is really takes a guild's worth of effort. It just ain't going to happen.

On a side note you hit the nail on the head for one topic. The problem with guild wars today=instant gratification. If you can stay clear of people with that mentality you should do ok.

The only reason events exist is to provide me with the Dragon Arena for a bitterly short weekend at a time.

I hear random people setting up random parties works just as well.

Besides, I won't be partying during festivals. I'll be playing DA, or Costume Brawl, or Snowball.

Yeah, i didnt make myself that cleat. Its just that whatever district I am in, I always see it full of AFKers. People just stand there having converstions among others and selling stuff. The whole point of a festival is to have fun, so why not have conga lines, dance offs, sync dancing and other fun stuff right before we get the hats? However, stuff like this is probably already being done in some districts. Why cant other districts have the same fun?

Because not everyone wants to do it. Lots of people spend time in towns, as you pointed out, to AFK and to just chat. But also many players go into town only to sell stuff. To have people sync dancing and doing congas around them gets annoying to them. So if they find a district with out it more then likely more will flood to it who don't want to join in the fun. I know I avoid towns during festival times because I don't want to do that stuff. To me it's not fun, I would rather be actually playing the game and if I want to converse with people that is what the GH and whisper is for. Not everyone wants to have this kind of "fun" in the game, and you can't force them too.

Did i say i was forcing them to enjoy GW? No, I didnt! This thing is totally optional. Just like the ARFMB and other community run events. If you think that, you really are a dumb fool.

Anyway, im giving this the go ahead.

Lets do this!

There I will update a list of stuff to do, and maybe a schedule for some events. I will require donations (small ones, sometimes none if i can do it myself). Some events will include Minipet races, themed costume contests, firework shows and much more.
