Wouldn't it be nice to have the statistics of character(s) (mission progress, titles and points, level, XP, and more....) exported to a website. Or at least have a tool being able to 'read' these statistics from the Guild Wars Servers and convert them into usable data (e.g. for websites)

A handful of users are maintaining a website at http://wiki.guildwars.com, where they display the characters they have and the progress they make with them. This is all done by hand and for people with a lot of characters it can be very time consuming.

This way of displaying stats is already done by games such as Battlefield 2, Quake Wars and other games... so why not in Guild Wars??

Maybe an option for a game update?

So, something like WoW armory?

(sorry to semi-discredit your idea with wow reference.)

all this would achieve in guild wars would be a "my character is so leet, look at my webpage" mentality.

BF2, Quake Wars etc are FPS games, and stats from those are things like kills, deaths, etc, that are used for ladders and so forth, giving them a point. GW doesn't work like that for individual players.

I don't see the point, really. It's like the WoW armory, except WoW actually has rare gear, unlike Guild Wars. It would be nothing but a pointless e-peen booster. /notsigned

This has been suggested already.

And this CAN be done, since we have the Template system that saves in-game data to files.

The easiest way would be a button in the Hero panel.

Click the button, and a .txt file is saved with the name of you character.
In that file would be the data about the charater:
Level, equipment, unlocked stuff, skills, skillsbar, titles, etc.

Then that thata could be used to easily fill gamer profiles and such.

I would think it's a nice way of 'showing off'. A lot of people show their progress in the game by using titles, elite armor and stuff like that. There's also the Hall of Monuments to show how skilled you are. Why not show your 'greatness' outside the game. I don't say everyone should do it, but for the ones you want to...

It is a bilingual german/english site.

Devoraz, it is not automatic, but you can enter your title progress and other things there. Just a snide remark, for all r5/r6 KOABD people the Hall of Monuments looks to 99% identical. We do not have that much different gear with different stats to show as Arkantos already pointed out.

or like an out of game HOM am i right or am i right?

any whoo i pain stakeingly did this with a excel spread sheet i would love for it to scy up with the game its not as detailed as i would like it to be but it helps me keep track of who is where and what i have to collect to for armor and when i need to do certain things like the treasure run for night fall. i also listed out what ch have what heroes and what lvl they are. i only keep track of what missions my ch are on not the quests. and i don't keep track of titles on there.

i for one would like a goal system that would keep track of where each of my chs are and what i would like for them like armor sets and stuff like that. though i would want it to be in game maybe like a window i could bring up anywhere.

Tut. Have you not heard of Rohar's rather excellent Character Progress Tracker?

You guys should try that site. It used to be a german only site but it supports english language now too. You can post Screenies of your character/Titles/HoM etc. You can even make a guild so your guildies can join it.

Having to manually track by manually inputing every single data just suck.
It may take more time than the time spent achieving the things you are trying to track.

This already exists in a fashion. Places like myspace that allow you to post pictures (screenshots). You can create a new album, post all your screenies there and let your friends check it out. I have screenshots in an album so people can check out what gw is like, I do this to try to recruit new members for the community. So far 3 people have begun playing due to my efforts which I am proud of. Many people do this with many games. Another site would be youtube, where you can showcase videos of the game you like.

we really dont need another site for guildwars stats or info because GW isnt a very deep game, and everything in the game is already on display at gw wiki.

sorry but /notsigned.

I think we should expand this idea a little bit more.

A webpage that you can export your character's profile onto and at the same time it is a Guild Wars 2 Official Online Social Gathering Place.

Think facebook, myspace. this will be MyGuildSpace or something. Everyone can create a page there, including non-guildwars players, they just don't get any character's profile until they buy Guild Wars.

Regina will be queen there. Doing her job hehehe, we be having fun.

Edit: there is one problem that i think off thou, I suddenly remember about the GW Player page that was discontinue from the Guild Wars webpage. they probably don't want the responsible for baby sitting minors. Anyway. Its a thought.

so it is a sign from me /signed.

I would love to see the ability to make character status information available outside of the game.

More than just title progress (or e-peen), having access to information such as:
  • Captured elites (for all classes, not just your current primary/secondary)
  • Mission completion status
  • Vanquished areas
  • Character bag contents, armour & weapons (and hero weapons/runes?)
  • Completed/currently held quests
  • Character birthday, age, played hours, xp, etc
  • any other types of "unlocks" that exist (e.g. heroes with elite armour, mini pets, etc - depends on what is applicable for GW/GW2 I guess).
for each of your characters would make keeping track of multiple characters on an account a lot easier.

I love Rohar's character progress tracker and Mapping Out, but there is an awful lot of manual work required to enter all the information these need - and then you need to remember to keep them updated or they quickly become useless. It would be far nicer to have a supported way to directly access the information instead of having to manually type it all.

Perhaps an "export character status" that gave you the data as xml/csv/whatever, or an online arenanet site where this information can be accessed/downloaded from. Some way to access the character status info to provide to a site/program WITHOUT entering account details for your playing account into that site/program (to guard against trojans/people stealing account details with fake tools/etc).

Screenshots don't really cover it, and it's a lot more than just "e-peen"/title display (which could be shown with edited screenshots). Making the display of information optional means that people interested in it could get access, while people not interested in it could freely ignore it. ANet wouldn't necessarily need to host the character status sites - just providing a way to get the information out of the game to be uploaded/used in fan sites/tools (like Rohars tracker or Mapping Out) would be enough!

I would like to see several export features, mainly for maintaining a guild and to help organize events. To give a few examples:

- Export Guild Statistics (current members, officers etc) to help keep an accurate rooster on the guild's local forum/wiki etc.
- Each player can export data about all their characters. This file can be auto-updated whenever you log-off a character. Such file should not contain any personal information, and you can upload it to your forum/wiki/blog etc where it's parsed to keep track of your mission progress etc. Event organizers can then more easily see for example "a lot of people haven't vanquished this area", maybe we should do an event about it?

Well you get my point, it's not a bragging-feature but more of an guild-organize-feature.

The client can get the data.

All that is needed is a way to export it to a file like Skill Templates, and then let people use the data in the file.

That is useless, you must input the data manually. There are hundreds of quests, more than a thousands skills.

That is not the same, and I don't want that. I want a way to export the data, not a way to spend hours checking things.
