no, prophecies is Tyria and Nightfall is Elona. you must travel to Elona before you can play NF or start a character there.

You can play with people from other campaigns as long as they have the campaign to come to you, or you have the campaign to go to them. For instance a NF character can not play with a Tyrian character if they only own the games in which they created the character. They must own both chapters to travel to the other continent...

each campaign has its own maps, to get to the Nightfall Continent, you need to progress in the story and get to a certain spot, then you'll get a Quest Called "Sunspears in Kryta", which will get you to the Nightfall Campaign.

To clarify a little, There's 3 separate games, each with their own continent (and noob starter area) Prophecies is unique in that the starter area, called 'pre searing' can't be visited once you've left. So make sure you do everything you want to there before you leave. Once you leave there, you'll play through on the prophecies continent, called tyria. Anyone who has prophecies added to their account can visit you and play alongside. You can add the other games to your account and travel between all the other continents as well (you usually have to play up through a certain point in the game to be able to access the other continents with each character) The factions continent is called Cantha and the Nightfall continent is called Elona (and by continent, it's actually a continent and some islands on each map) The eye of the north expansion doesn't add a new continent, just adds a large area at the top of the prophecies continent.
