Need help on Gust build

[Gust]

I think I really like this skill: a 3 second ranged knockdown.
However the build I ran today were a bit awkward, I couldn't get the build running smoothly.

Hexes in either earth or water:

[Earthen Shackles]. No burning
[Grasping Earth]. Actually pretty good, too bad it's nearby
[Iron Mist]. No thank you, long recharge as well.

[Blurred Vision]. Nice, however expensive upkeep.
[Deep Freeze]. Long cast, expensive
[Freezing Gust]. spammable, however a bit expensive and knockdown + slowdown seem counter productive
[Frozen Burst], Grasping Earth is better for this
[Ice Prison]/[teinais prison], quite good, uptime could be better.
[Ice Spikes], a bit expensive
[Rust], I actually like this skill: long duration and cheap
[Shard Storm], recharge is on par with gust. However the duration is also on par with the knockdown
[Winter's Embrace], no need for it

This gives me the following builds:

Using an odd build I had many people cursing at me once in RA... It was more fore pure KD on priority targets than damage.

[build prof=E/x water=11+1 air=11+1+1 energy=8+1 fire=3][Glyph of Immolation][rust][steam][slippery ground][gust][lightning orb][no skill][res sig][/build]

I think that was it. Could have been way different. Your choice of energy management since it uses spells from Water and Air.

I would probably split atts 12+1+1 (air) - 10+1 (water) - 8+1 (estorage) - 2+1 (fire)... It's a lot of runes, but the raised atts are useful.

Gale > Gust IMO.

But I would go with the Water build if I REALLY liked Gust.

oh wait, both are elites :\
so anyway your best bet is the Water line as Earth has pathetic hexes at most...

[Teinai's Prison] is horrible, 30 second cool down on snares?

[Frozen Burst][Deep Freeze][Freezing Gust] are the best snares you can get for water.

To be honest, if you're running an air build you should have [gale] and use your elite on something useful e.g. [blinding surge]

And if you're running a water build and want a knockdown you should either be using [gale] or [water trident]

Nearby range PBAoE skills are really good.

If you really want to use gust I think your best to run

[build prof=E/x water=12+1 energy=12+1][Gust][Freezing Gust][Deep Freeze][Frozen Burst][Glyph of lesser energy][water attunement][blurred vision][/build] and then a res.

Because you're only really using gust for the KD.

You can swap Deep Freeze for [Ice Spikes] but I think DF is much, much better.
