This is a new build i have made for a paragon.

I was very upset when they nerfed go for the eyes, not to mention aggressive refrain

anyways, here it is:

1.Defensive Anthem
2.Mending Refrain
3.Barbed Spear
4.Glowing Signet
5.Burning Refrain
6."They're On Fire""
7."there's Nothing To Fear!"
8.Anthem Of Flame

Basically this build buffs up the whole team with constant regeneration, and damage reduction via theyre on fire and burning refrain.

The refrains take a while to get going, but after that it whould be smooth sailing. glowing signet is for e-management. defensive anthem i think could be replaced with something way more useful. it doesnt really work against lvl 20s or anything lower ( or rather burning refrain doesnt work ). i was also wondering if bladeturn refrain would have more effect than mending, but havent tried it because am not even level 20 yet and have just bought a shiny amethyst aegis for motivation

So i ask you, is it the new godmode for paragon or a waste of a party slot? Please could i have your comments on it and if i did something wrong regarding the post please dont scream at me, i only just created an account

Some of the skill choices are horrible. GFTE have a recharge now but it's still better than glowing signet for e-management. AR is still the best IAS for a paragon, and any paragon bar without IAS is not a good bar. You also have only 1 attack skill in there, 2-3 is usually better to take advantage of the paragon damage, preferably the ones with +damage. ToF is usually not worth it unless you are in a party with a few fire eles that cause lots of enemies on fire. With this build, only the one you targeted will be on fire, so he should go down pretty quickly, making ToF pretty useless.

because pve enemies usually have lots more health than you, the burning refrain sets everyone alight, and so ToF works, giving everyone damage reduction.

defensive anthem + theres nothing to fear boosts that and i thought that was a good synergy. apparently i was wrong

Burning Refrain - For 20 seconds, if target non-spirit ally hits a foe with more Health than that ally, that foe is set on Fire for 1...3 seconds. This echo is reapplied every time a chant or shout ends on that ally.

So only the one that you attack, not all the enemies. Blazing Finale is the one that set adjacent foes to the ally on fire when shout/chant end. I wouldn't use this for ToF either though.

Defensive Anthem and TNTF is fine, no complain for those skills.

1-2 skill changes & this could turn out a nice build. Sasori not everyone has high enough kurz/luxon rank to make SY worth it's slot.
Ccat can you post what equipment & atribute points do you intent to have for this build.

i'd prefer an adren chant for e-management rather than [glowing signet]
it doesnt even have to be [energizing chorus] either
[go for the eyes] gives u plenty of free energy

tho...ur build kinda does look like it would benefit [energizing chorus]
wit all those 10en refrains and 15en shouts/chants

and i dun particularly like upkeeping refrains on the whole team...
especially in pugs, as they like to overextend

h/h its fine, cuz u can monitor hero status, and they never overextend anyways

Very wise choice. Unremovable Aegis is good.

Use "GftE!", it's nerfed but still powerful energy management, it also can make Vicious Attack's Deep Wound trigger happen ~70% of the time.

Quote: 3.Barbed Spear Spear of Lightning, or Vicious Attack is better than this.

Quote: 4.Glowing Signet This skill is fairly horrible, bad energy management while you can just buttonmash the button assigned to an adrenaline shout for better results.

Switch it out for Aggressive Refrain, although nerfed it remains the most powerful IAS you can use for a Paragon.

Quote:
5.Burning Refrain Quite horrible. Switch it out for a support skill of some sort. Cry of Frustration, although more of a PvP skill on a Paragon is quite powerful at minumum spec.
Quote:
6."They're On Fire" Not good unless you're using an SF Ele, even then, you're using an offensive build for defense unless you take 2-3 of them.
Quote:
7."there's Nothing To Fear!" With 12 spec in Leadership, you can switch to a staff and use this to maintain Aggressive Refrain.

Quote:
8.Anthem Of Flame Good for keeping Aggressive Refrain up.

A basic Paragon build usually consists of:

[aggressive refrain]
[spear of lightning] / [vicious attack]
[anthem of flame] / ["there's nothing to fear!"]
["go for the eyes!"] / ["watch yourself!"]
[song of restoration] / [defensive anthem] / [song of purification] / [stunning strike] / [cruel spear]
[cry of frustration] / ["shields up!"]
[optional]
[optional]

The optionals should be filled with support skills and / or res.

firstly i would just like to say thx for all your comments, the positives and the negatives

my attribs atm is 14 leadership ( i could probably do with taking this down, as i only had it to keep my blue bar full with all the 10e chants, shouts ), at least 10 spear and 9 motivation. i should really get myself to level 20 (still only lvl 19)

the armor is full centurions, minor runes, a superior vigor and +30s to keep a healthy 600 on the hp bar ( or 580 in my case)

i realize that glowing signet is conditional, does not work all the time, and interrupts your attacking, where gfte is not conditional, does not interrupt, benefits the party and gives out free energy. NO WAY am i using AR; it just wastes the partys healing all on you, the long range para, who doesnt need it most of the time

really wish anet wouldn't nerf...

why should you kno? Oo

AR is the best IAS for a para, and a para with no IAS is uhm... bad.

You should also mention your Lux/Kurz rank, you also want to be using [save yourselves]. If you have any ranking and can use this skill in PvE, you definitely want to bring this along.

But [skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill] is probably the best IAS and adrenaline boost a Paragon has to be able to keep those chants, shouts and more importantly spear attcks up near constantly.

Considering Paragons have the best DPS out of the melee classes even without an IAS then think of the potential damage you can deal using an IAS while also buffing your entire party with TNTF! and SY!

Not to mention using TNTF! and more importantly SY! when they are available will probably help negate that cracked armour from AR so you arent at such a disadvantage afterall.

Just run godmode. If you dont like the fact that AR gives that condition, get a rit hero or a mo/rit with [skill]Resilient Weapon[/skill] I like using a rit heal/ monk prot, and with this on a god mode para, you have +4 armor (because you lost 20 from cracked armor) and if your running 12 resto, 5 hp regen which is pretty nice when it can counter some degen.
