Help panick setting in!!

Hi i just reinstalled the game completely from the download client , it let me log in fine to my account and all my characters were there BUT they were all wearing their basic armor, what happened? have they been reset? it didnt ask for any access key it is already activated i've been playing for 2 yrs..

last time i did a a re install i just copied the gw.dat file over and that worked fine...

at the moment its still re loading another 19,000 files once i logged in, so im wondering if the characters will be fixed then or whats going on?

i still have the gw.dat saved on another drive...

any info is appreciated...

once you download the data file again your armor should all be set back to normal. I had the same scare after reinstall just recently, even though I know good and well all information is stored on the server about my chars.

This is normal if you dont have all the files yet. It will put default armor on till it downloads the textures for your normal armor. Just give it some time.

Sounds like a semi-common glitch with the selection screen. It's happened to myself once, with my Rit (she appeared wearing her purple Shing Jea starter rather than Elite Kurzick -_-; ).

Did you play on any of the characters? It's unlikely that Anet reset them.

They've been reset on the character selection screen. Once you actually log into your character, it'll be wearing the proper armor when you next login. You'll find that your interface(if you moved any of the things on screen) has been rest as well.

This happened to me once, and it was ok. Recently however, I pressed G to see who was online in my guild, and there was the join/accept invitation crap, when I was in a guild. Minor scare there, but logging out and in again will fix most of these things.

Just a suggestion but its no bad thing to occasionally back up the gw dat file the one that's 3 gig +.

Copy to another folder hard drive or a dvdrw, it can save you a lot of time

If you copy all the files you can put them on a new computer run the exe file and it reinstalls the game sets up the registry creates shortcuts etc.

gw is very good that way.

Yeh, I've had this scare before, but once I logged in my armor was fine. Don't worry about it :P

it happens to me and my husband if there is a really BIG update....kinda cool to see my characters back in the basics for a bit (though the colors now are horrible....used to be the color of the profession --now its grey, how boring)....

i got my para his brand new fow armor about a month after Nightfall was released. Then the next day i logged in and he was naked in the starter screen lol, that gave me a scare, but no once u load an area with a character they will be fine
