Am I the only one unable to connect?
Darmikau
My internet connection is perfectly fine, but Guild Wars isn't getting past connecting to ArenaNet. I was just playing not 10 minutes ago, I exited Guild Wars for a quick second, and now it won't get past the initial little grey loading screen.
Elia
No problems here.

It's working fine for me. o.o

Had to reboot computer around 3 minutes back, reconnected to GW without a problem.
Darmikau
I tried rebooting, it's still not working, should I take this to the technical support board?

Someone's going to say it, might as well be me...

If you're running Firewall software, make sure you allow the GW.exe internet access.
I accidently hit disallow traffic once and it caused the grey screen to never connect and yell at me in flashy red error messages :3

Can I get this topic moved to the Technician's Corner, or do I have to go make a new topic?
Also, my Firewall currently says Guild Wars is being allowed full access, and I know for a fact I haven't changed anything.

Does your FW have a log of connections it blocked? Maybe check that and see if something's up. I also wonder if you could ping the ANet server...

try "gw.exe" -diag
that should test your connection to the GW servers.
Or, failing that, maybe Start -> Run -> netsh winsock reset
One of these two usually fix any net routing issues I tend to have.

GW hasn't been blocked, and neither of those two options seems to have fixed my problem. Now comes the part where I get irritable, because this has never happened before and there doesn't seem to be an apparent cause.

Beyond maybe refreshing your IP address or a full shutdown/restart (including powering down your modem, assuming external), I'm at a loss.
Darmikau
I've already tried powering down my modem. I'm gonna contact ANet support momentarily if nothing else helps. Beyond that, if that doesn't work, re-installing will be the next step. Normally Re-installing wouldn't be bad if it weren't for the fact that you have to download so many files.

i doubt this is your own cause, but who knows! I had the same problem this weekend, constant err58, err07 when selecting a character, and the occasional case where everything worked fine. Turns out it's because I'd just installed NOD32 and it had by default enabled an internet monitor that was mucking things up. It took me a while to diagnose because I didn't think antivirus would be doing such a thing, but I eventually found it.

I had something like this too once, I reinstalled Guild Wars and it worked again. Even though I find it odd that reinstalling Guild Wars has something to do with the connection to the server.
I hope you still have the discs if you're going to reinstall Guild Wars.

this happened to me a few days ago. rebooted twice, checked firewalls but did nothing. went to watch tv for half hour and it let me log in again. has happened to me b4 that as well. just leave ur computer alone and hope it fixes itself

Re-installing, and it connected to Anet fine. Weird stuff. Thanks to those who helped <3

Some anti-virus programs block it. While yours is fixed i'll just put a general notice out to the people who read the thread the ESET NOD32 won't let you log in until it is disabled.
That's one that I definitely know of, so it's always best to check your virus programs as a first port of call.

When this happen, you can launch GW but you cannot receive login news, and cannot log in at all.
Just use your previous GW.dat file and it will be fine.
And you don't have to download everything again.
That's why I backup GW.dat.

i dont got any problems with it but maybe your to far away from the server or your internet connection is good but they are doing something withit like scanning.. they scan your internet connection aswel so evryone got good connection and can't get a virus by using internet.. only with download you got more chance to get a virus.
