Secondary profession changing problem
avilia
Hi everyone. I'm new to the board and fairly new to GW. I've made a few chars, but done nothing earth-shattering. My best char just entered Vabbi.
Now, I want to make a build to go all the way and I've chosen an A/D. I didn't like the fact that I had to start in Factions (which I think is by far the least enjoyable of the campaigns), but I managed to get to Kaineng City in one piece and traveled to Kamadan. From there, I went all the way to "War Preparatons: Prisoners of War" to get the profession changer (I couldn't select Dervish to start in Factions, so a profesion changer is my only option). And now she's telling me I have to be Ascended or closer to the stars. I did the quest in NF, so I should be able to change professions, right? I also tried my luck in the Temple of Balthazar, but theguy there said the same thing.
Is there any way of changing my profession without having to switch campaigns again?

Off-hand, I'd say you need to be ascended. I don't think you need to be "ascended" in Factions specifically, but ascended somewhere.
Anyway, in Factions you would need to do the quest "Closer to the Stars" which involves Napui Quarter.

In nightfall it's "Hunted"

I believe you have to be ascended on the content you were made, so you have to do the closer to the stars mission to change secondaries.
GWEXTREEMFAN
in my knowledge and expirience you can ascend where ever you want but you only reach the profession changers once you've ascended in NF or cantha 0.0

Wetspark is correct. You must be ascended in the continent you were made. It's not too far off to become Weh No Su.

I'm not sure about having to ascend on the continent you're from FIRST, but I do know that in order to get Dervish you will have to ascend in NF. Basically, you might end up having to ascend in both Factions and NF.
DarkFlame
I think Hunted! only counts as ascension for NF characters. But being Closer to the Stars and Prophecies Ascended are interchangeable among non NF characters.

In fact you dont need to ascend in the campaign you were made. I ascended NF toons in Factions at level 3. And Luxon Armor at level 5 :P
I too would like advice on getting my Sin on becoming A/D at level 6 or below.

Hmm, that totally sucks. I just want to play NF with an A/D.
I already tried going for Weh No Su, but that is so beyond what I can do at the moment. Factions is so much harder than the other campaigns.
Is the being Ascended close by when I travel to the prophecies campaign?

It'd be easier to travel from Factions to NF and ascend there. The Prophecies ascension requires a run (that will cost you 2-3k) OR going through several missions before you do the 4? missions that you have to do in order to ascend.
avilia
Yes, that was what I did, but apparently, a Factions character cannot ascend in Nightfall.

Honestly, ascension can be done in Factions with henchmen only (even easier with heroes and henchmen). Just get the H/H you want (two monks/warriors at a mimimum) and stay back and flag them.
I did the whole Factions campaign with my ritualist at a consistent 60% penalty while flagging H/H. (The one exception being Shiro, but 1k=dead Shiro for masters).

At this point I'm looking for that Fishmonger guy, but I can't find him in the Wajjun Bazaar. At least, not where the wiki map says he should be.
I'll keep looking, but I've succumbed to my fate of having to keep playing Factions.

There should be a marker on your map...
You have the quest right?
