Craftable Steel Daggers (Blue/Common Skin)

Its just too difficult to find these daggers otherwise. User's simply merch them because they're blue and they never see the market. I'd like to see them added to the craftable list of daggers please. I've been searching for close to a year for anyone that wants to type a search for "Blue steel daggers". And as you can imagine I get pms about every other kind of dagger except the one i'm after.

Note: blue/common Steels = smooth skin, Purple/uncommon = Dual tips, Gold/Rare = Jagged edge.

Okay I know some people might not care but I'm sure everyone can agree it'd be nice to be able to craft something other than Bronze Daggers. I've never seen a bronze ingot drop but I've seen plenty of steel.

i'd go farm tusked howlers for them
i have a pair of gold ones but still
farming those howlers is best

If you want that type of weapon, you either find someone selling, or you farm for them. I could say I want a Jade Sword, but can't find one or someone selling one with the stats I want. I see Jadeite drop (rarely) and can get it with Faction, so we should be able to craft a Jade Sword (or hammer, bow, etc.).

There would be a ton of people wanting a specific skin that they can't find, and asking for a new crafter for them. How does Anet decide who they should listen to? Several weapons have multiple skins for the same name, why does Steel Daggers get special treatment?

MagmaRed makes somewhat of a good point, but Anet would never make area-exclusive items like Jade Swords craftable. IMO every blue item should be craftable and the blue version of Steel Daggers are some of the best looking daggers in the game

MagmaRed and N1ghtstalker, you have NO idea how hard it is to find a BLUE pair of these. Jade Sword is a ridiculous comparison to Steel Daggers...

"Lesser Steel Daggers" are basic. "Jade Sword" is Exotic.

There are plenty pairs of gold and purple Steels, but no blues. The blues have a beautiful skin. I've been farming for these in different places, too, but haven't found any max requirement 9 inscribable blues - or even requirement 10s. The reason they should get special treatment is because so many people want the BLUE skin and hate the purple and/or gold Steel skins, and we want access to the sleek "Lesser" Steel Daggers.

They should simply separate the rarity and the skin, giving each skin a separate name. Just that.

I know some of those are location specific drops. But not all. Steel Daggers and Ancient Daggers both have various skins based on the rarity of the item. Some have different skins based on where they drop (Crude Axe for example, 1 skin from Cantha, 1 from Elona). I don't see why any skin should be made a craftable item simply because it is hard to find.

Like in EotN there are 'greater' and 'lesser' skins, they should rename the skins in the skin-rarity case, and make all of them drop in all rarities.

And for the rest, they should stick with one name to one weapon.
For example:
- The Fire Staff would be renamed Fire Staff, Tyrian Fire Staff, Canthan Fire Staff, Elonian Fire Staff, Zaishen Fire Staff, etc.

Making them craftable isn't the answer, it's what Mithran is saying. Set them up so they have lesser, regular and greater variations, and disassociate the skin from the rarity.

And if there's a name that's shared with multiple skins, those skins need to get their own name. Like they should call it a 'farmers sickle' or 'chef's cleaver' and really... 4 different war hammers, why the hell are ram's hammers getting called war hammers...

GW:EN has Lesser and Greater weapons, so it is possible to provide the naming. However, I have never seen a gold Lesser Jagged Reaver. Not sure if the rarity and name are exclusive. Would also like different names for different skins, but some skins have multiple names.

I can see what you are saying about giving the skins different names.. But honestly, I think something should be done. /signed for changing the skin names to make them more readily available... /signed for doing anything to make these possible to obtain as max, inscribable, requirement 9.

That's not the only reason. I already stated that it would just be nice to have a craftable skin other than Bronze daggers. Steel daggers just seem to suit GW better seeing as how I've never seen any Bronze ingots.

Anyhow, MithranArkanere, I agree with what you've said. They really should create new names for different skins like they did with the Ceremonial/Solemn Spear and various Eotn skins.

Then why leave it at daggers? Why not add Sword, Axe, Hammer, Bow, Staff, Rod/Wand, Focus, Scythe, and Spear? Those all have only 1 craftable skin. This assumes you ignore Asuran, Norn, Charr, Deldrimor, Tormented, and Destroyer as well.

You completely ignored the second part where I changed my stance and agreed with Mithran that they should simply change the name of skins that share the same names and list them as Lesser,Normal, and Greater as they do with Eotn skins.

EotN collectors have different skins.

And if they changed the world drops to make them inscribable, I would agree with making crafters in different areas to have different skins (Amber/Gothic set in Echovald, Jade set in the Jade Sea, for example) also the Crafter in the Credit areas should use the End-game skin (Yes, even the actions ones, even if they drop in Elite missions, you cannot craft req7 and req8 items).

Until the inscribable change is made, they should keep the different craftrs with the same skin, since they have different inherent modifiers.

No, I did not completely ignore it. I may have misunderstood it though. It sounded like you want a crafter for Steel Daggers, and a name change for all weapons that have multiple skins with the same name. If that is what you meant, then there should also be a crafter for the other weapons, and not just the daggers. If you were implying that the name changes and the crafter should be done for all weapons, then I apologize, I didn't catch that.

I still do not think there is any reason to make a crafter for more skins. It would be nice sure, but not needed. If it were to happen, I would imagine a large number of people asking for crafters for weapons you have unlocked (by getting one to drop, using faction, PvP rewards, etc.).

In short, it sounds like there is a weapon you want, can't find, and so your option is to make a crafter for it. Why is your weapon different than many other possibles?

Of course, if crafter were to be changed to replace common skins with other skins, those sskins must be skins that are usual of the area, like Vabbian Shields and jeweled daggers in Vabbi.

And, more than anything else, those skins should he quite 'usual' of the area.
The bes exampe is the one I used before. You will get one Gothic/Amber drop for ver 5 creatures you kill in echovald, and 1 jade drop from every 5 cretures you kill in the Jade Sea.

Things slightly more rare should not be allowed to be crafted.

But as we have seen in EotN, it¡s nice to have options in collectors to choose from and crafters.
They could even make the 'special' crafters require certain ranks in titles.
Rank 2 Kurzick/Luxon for Gothic/amber and Jade weapons, for example, or Rank 6 sunspear for the sunspear set.

What I mean is that if a skin is common in the area, there is no problem about allowing to craft it. But absolutely not all skins! Just one set per Level 20 region: Crystal Desert, Souther Shiverpeaks(This would be the same found in the Central Transfer champer), Fire Island, Kaineng, Ehovald, Jade Sea, Kourna, Vabbi, Desolation, Torment (Already in Gate of torment), Norn, Vanguard, Asura, Dwarven(Already in Central Transfer Champer). And the endgame sets: Deldrimor (Already existing), Ceremonial, Forgotten, Droknar.

Southern Shiverpeaks, Kaineng and Koruna would use the common campaign skins. So the current set in each campaign is found at level 20 at least somewhere.
That leaves 9 skins that drop in quite common rates in the area to change the crafters of that region:
Blue/common:
- Crystal Desert: Crystal/Shard set.
- Fire Island: Titan/Stone set.
- Echovald: Gothic/amber set.
- Jade Sea: Jade set.
- Sunspear: Sunspear/Suntouched set.
- Vabbi: Vabbian/Jeweled set
- Desolation: Desolation set.
Rare/Gold:
- Factions endgame: Ceremonial set (gold/rare color)
- Throne of wispers: Forgotten set (gold/rare color)
- Epilogue: Droknar set (gold/rare color)

Hm... yeah, more or lesss that is what I meant. Something in the lines of the EotN reputation skins.
Of course, not needed. But I see really dumb having all crafters in a campaign use the same skin, when they are very different. A Kurzick should make Kurzick-styled weapons.



But, in any case, I'll be happy even if they only made the 1 Skin <->1 Name update.

Okay to recap:

-If steel daggers were added to various crafters' lists then yes other items/bows/staves/etc would have to be implemented as well.

-I like the idea of changing the names of items like Ancient scythes or various NF daggers that share the same name but vary in skin.

-Ranking idea is an interesting one to apply to NF skins. Gotta be this rank LB or SS before you can craft "this" item. I'm sure implementing this feature into Factions would surely liven up the dieing campaign.
