Hey, Back from 2 years of playing wow..I got banned and don't feel like leveling another char.. So I am gonna get the game this weekend. My questions are..Best profession for a pvp player? I enjoyed pvp in wow So I guess I'll enjoy it here.. My other question is is leveling like leving to 20 on wow? And last but not least are there realms/servers?
Ulin
Leveling is relatively quick, (slower in the original campaign) a bulk of the content is set for a level 20 character.
PvP is a different beast, given a little time you will have the opportunity to play all classes, at which point play what you want or what your team needs. If you plan to PvE just run with what fits your play style.

this is not like wow
did u enjoy world pvp in wow?
or arena pvp in wow?
gw is most similar to arena pvp from wow
(there is no world pvp)
also...character development/balance is nuthin like wow either
every class has a chance to shine
so play wutever u like the best
tho the 2 most common classes in pvp r:
war and/or monk
there r 2 types of characters: pve and pvp
pvp r instantly lvl20, and have access to all skills and equips u have unlocked
so feel free to play around with all the different classes
try them all out till u find one u like
its not like wow, where u have to dedicate all ur time to 1 or 2 charas
and u can respec for free anytime u want
so if your unhappy wit ur build, u can change it anytime u want
theres different 'servers'
but all ur charas have access to all servers
so u can pug on american
and if u have euro friends, u can switch to euro servers with ease

You can check out the PvP forums on this site for info on how the professions work in PvP.
Each campaign comes with 4 slots. You can create a level 20 PvP only character on day one. You can purchase PvP Skill Packs from the on-line store to give your one campaign character all the skills available for PvP.

oh, btw, if u dun like pve at all...or dun plan to pve
jus buy the pvp version of gw
it basically gives u all 4 games in one (minus the pve part)
for the price of 1 game

So i am automatically level 20 when I select pvp? That's neat. What do you mean go online stores and buy stuff for my char? That's kinda weird. And I liked arena pvp.
Snograt
Skill packs. Unlocking skills for use in PvP is a slow and laborious process. The skill packs allow you to unlock these skills without the lengthy grind.
Don't worry - it's nothing like Maple Story. It's just the one thing and doesn't create imbalance.

At your log-in screen for GW, you will see an Icon at the top of the screen for the on-line store.
If you have a credit, debit or Visa gift card, you can purchase Skill Packs, extra character slots, etc. Nothing that will give you an advantage over anyone else.
But as Snograt said, it's a long process to collect all the skills you need for PvP across three campaigns by playing PvE.

You can also purchase the games dirrectly from the online store (although it is marked up too much and you don't get the manuals).

Mesmer is lots of fun, but takes much more practice to be effective in PvP.
Yes, there are drops. Here are links to the two wiki sites - the second is available in-game by keying Help on the menu or F10 or /wiki in the chat bar.

Just out of curiousity, why were you banned? We don't take kindly to strangers coming into our town and causing trouble. o.O
Maca
Just a side not there is nothing similar with GW and WOW, 2 different games, so dont get GW if you think you ll get replacement for WOW.

and a ritualist most closely resembles a shaman
tho to be a ritualist u need the factions campaign
u could get guild wars platinum: factions edition, which includes both proph+factions for the price of one

Extrememly sorry for this triple post, won't happen again..What happens when you die?
take_me
When you die you will get resurrected at the nearest Resurrection-shrine and receive -15% Health and Energy (called "Death Penalty").
You can lose those -15% again by gaining XP from killing monsters. You can have -60% max, so dying at -60% Death Penatly will not result in more loss of Health and Energy.
In some areas, like Dungeons, if every party member has -60% Death Penatly, you will all be teleported back to the outpost and have to start again.
Also, there are special items that can remove your Death Penalty, either completely or by 5-15%
EDIT: Of course you will only be resurrected automatically if either all party members are dead, or you are solo.
If one party member is still alive, he can resurrect all dead party members if he has a Res-Spell.... if not... he will have to kill himself so everyone else gets automatically resurrected.

I decided on Elementalist, I am gonna get it when I am done my finals so I don't fail like I did last year when I played wow...

Most classes have some form of self heal. Monks are primary healers, but paragons and ritualists can also heal.
You might want to browse around on wiki (http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) to find more detailed information about some of these things.

you might want to read up on titles though.
you will have a difficult time playing some of the
other high-end pvp types because of how late into the
game it is

Thanks, another question, Is there sides, Like alliance and horde?
HawkofStorms
No. Well not really. There is in the game Factions, the Luxon and the Kurzick, but it quite literally means absolutely nothing, and you can switch back and forth pretty easily at any time. In fact, if you want to "fully" beat the game, you have to play on both sides.

Oh that's cool, I understand. Would you or anyone recommend playing roleplaying first to get used to the game?

As Omnidrgon said, every profession has some form of self-heal. Some are direct heals (gain x amount of health) while others are more indirect (+x health regen for x seconds, target loses 3 energy and you gain x health for every point of E they lose, etc.).
Elementalists have an indirect healing enchantment called Aura of Restoration - For 60 seconds, you are healed for 152...350% of the Energy cost each time you cast a Spell.

Ah cool thing about GW is that everyone can have res skill , doesnt matter what proffesion you are you will have res. That's the thing I hated in wow^^
Also elementalist have aura or restoration which is really poor selfheal, but you can always use 2nd proff. skills to get some selfheals..I'd actually say that elementalist and memsers are classes with worst selfheal in the game.
I never played RP, but I know there are few guilds and even events there that do RP, it's really up to you, if you like RP and it makes you get use to game faster than do it, but GW is really not RP game tbh.

Yes, definitely. Jumping straight into PvP might be ovewhelming (and annoying for your teammates).

The first computer would get kicked out if you try to login with your second.

You can login into your account anywhere in the world simply using your login name and password.
You can install the game on both computers, yes.
And you can play the game on both computers (in fact: on any computer that has GW installed)
But you can only be logged in on one of them at the same time.
The CDs are not really needed

You could install the Game client (few KBs big) and all content would be streamed once you need it. Installing only saves you some download time^^

"/age" Shows the number of months since creating the current character, the time you played Guild Wars in hours, minutes and days on the current character, and on your account, and also how long you have been on a specific map.
There's also "/deaths" which displays how many times your current character has died
Yes, you can whisper anyone, if he's not on DND mode, or offline, or ignoring you^^
Kyomi Tachibana
Yes, if you type in /age it will tell you how long you have played across all characters and how old your account is, how much time you have spent on the character you are on at the time, and how old the character is, as well as how long you've been in the map.
Yes you can whisper people, by clicking on their names in the chat window, or typing in their name manually into the whisper box after pressing shift+'.
