The way I see the suggestion it's not so much about auto-picking gold as it is about minis having other utility than just e-peen flexing in outposts. Thus /signed because it would be pretty funny to watch minis get a run for their money

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ! so cute.

if I may, we have to train them to pick up the gold hehehe, and after training, if you put them on a gold picking up "mission" they will have a backpack mounted onto them. Does not "physically" gives you extra storage, just something visually entertaining.

There are interface options already available such as that that make this game very easy to perform certain functions. People just don't know about them. Rather then requesting minipets get a function, I suggest people just learn how to use the existing interface to its full efficiency.
good point, and i agree, but if the devs get some time on their hands from all the money sink titles, this cant hurt. its a computer game, its permeated with laziness no matter how u spin it.

Also, higher-end minis should pick up the gold faster (A mini-Necrid Horsmen picks up 1 pile every 5 seconds, while a mini panda catches them before they hit the ground ^.^). If highend minis wern't expensive enough...

Lol someone gets it. Thank you.

Enough with the "I want it to pick up items cause I died and can't reach em."

I can see a mini pet lugging around a few loose coins more than I can see em lugging around a few 75 lb shields and other items. I just wanna give them some purpose other than to look pretty. Can anyone think of a more useful/useless purpose for minis to serve?

minipets are extremely useless and not worth the money.

played a game that had your mini pet pick up ALL your loot, that was convenient. at least we will not see the random person leeroying or staying behind for drops.. its especially bad if its a monk haha

how it worked is that as soon as your inventory would be full, you would get a messege "inventory full" and the pet would pick up only gold from that point, untill you make space in inv.

but even if it is only gold, it would still be cool.

Ah I should mention that a mod added the poll but I hope everyone understands that "Gold Drops" just means loose change and should not be confused with items. Mini's picking up items would be unbalanced and is not my goal in my thread. Mini's picking up loose change, nothing more nothing less.

Not that ANet would ever make something useless into a practical feature.

Do this in GW2. It's a waste of time putting the effort to making this happen in GW1.

Someone's already suggested that you "train" your minis to pick up gold. After some reflection this actually sounds like a good idea. Perhaps make a cross campaign trip to gain the ability or knowledge to teach your minis to pick up loose change. GW players get a practical use for minis and Anet's got another reason to encourage players to get each game and the expansion.

I've already stated that it's not about being lazy. Adding this feature would give minis a small practical purpose and reduce* the whining of players when one of them runs back to pick up a pile of gold everyone missed.

Too lazy to click once? Then perhaps make the mini work like a boomerang. You ctrl+left click the pile of gold to send your mini running after it. So no lack of clicking.

Seems to be a majority of support for the idea. Now while appearing a good idea what are some monetary reasons that Anet should actually implement this idea?

A few I've come up with:

- Quest involving a cross campaign trek to gain the mini-pets' gold fetching
ability would further encourage user's to buy all games.
- New feature might spur some players back into playing GW after having
quit. In addition it might prevent players from quitting in the first
place. Thus providing more chances for accounts to be upgraded in
the future through the online store.
-Your Suggestions?

My fiance and I were discussing the subject and we both like minis even though all they do is follow you around. But many people hate them because that's all they do, they serve no purpose and are "a waste". So I think that they should have some kind of purpose to keep everyone happy. And perhaps certain ones do certain things. Like one picks up weapons, one picks up gold, one regular items, etc. And of course you can only have one mini out at a time so you'd have to choose which one you wanted to bring out (unless you filled your inventory).

Of course this can be altered, but the main point is to let the minis have some kind of purpose other than following you around so that the people who don't like them and think they're pointless will even have a use for the cool little critters. Something like that anyway.

Other use: A mini pet arena. Your mini faces off against another person's mini in a fun little fight. Could even let gold be waggered by people watching and by the 2 ppl themselves. My mini mallyx>your cute little bunny rabbit lol. Well it edited it out(i don't know why I didn't think it would). So here is what I am editing. It could be like a mini pet (you know the illegal(in the states) game where 2 roosters face off with little metal shoes and metal beak covers but a mini pet version of that. YEAAA. BTW I am totally against animal cruelty in rl but that would be funny as crap to see a mallyx picking up a bunny and chucking it across the arena.

O and don't minis already have a purpose. The HoM slot?

it would be fun, but i dont think they would focus on something like this at this point of the game. They barely do any updating now and despite the recent well thought out update, all evidence point to that they are abandoning GW. While this would be very fun and give me a reason to whip out my mini.

"Just" new feature would be best - minipet gold pickup is convenience feature, making people run all over the place sounds like antithesis to that. There is already cross-campaign quest for minipet gain. It can double as "guaranteed" way to get pickup mini.

Without an equipment slot to put the miniature, this would just be a bit of a bother. I have the inventory already filled with plenty of stuff.

Well, ive always thought Minis should be used kinda like polymock pieces in terms of use, but your idea is cool . I do however think that they should be able to pick up items and act as extra storage, varying on the rarity and that they have to be dedicated. Im not talking about 1000 slots for super rare minis, but 1 or two for common three for uncommon 4 for gold and 5 for green. When you go to an outpost you can take the stuff they collected... its not going to kill the economy, even thought its dead anyways...

anyways

/signed, but hoping for mods..

EDIT: Or maybe you could let them keep the items and have them grow (not to enormous proportions) or have them grow big only outside of an outpost.

Its just a thought...im being a bit ridiculous...but w/e

But anyways, i would like to see mini pet interaction. not fights, but perhaps they meet each other and would emote a wave or a roar. how they would decide to like each other or not idk, there would be all kinds of possibilities.

Or at least player interaction with thier mini's. so i could finally punt the asura for distance, push rurik off a flight of stairs, and give my favorite mini Titan (Fred) a treat or a pat on the...i guess its a head.

If they were to have a minipet arena then stats should be randomised on first entry with potential for experience/stat gain if/when it wins, then even a common minipet could be a prize champion.

Imagine what that would do to a mini's price.

WTS: Minipet Fungal Wallow: Yokozuna rank. 130ecto.

Hmm, a whole mini-game in itself. "Sorry, can't do FoW tonight, Wallow has a big match...."

Damn, I want that added to the game now.

No items! That'd just lead to further issues with botters. Due to botters it's already unlikely they'd implement an automated feature such as picking up loose gold.

(If you want a mini-pet arena, Then suggest it on your own thread.)
