Simple. This comes from an experience of mine. Confusing a fiery gladius (innately on fire) with a fiery gladius (the mod).

Maybe flaming gladius.

Never knew why they didn't think of this. They changed Dragon Scythes to Kamas to avoid confusion, should have done the same for Fiery Gladius....

while they're at it, could they at least change "white mantle ritualist" to "white mantle necromancer"? they're not even ritualists!

On the one hand you have the Fiery Gladius that is the tyrian skin and on the other hand you have the Fiery Gladius that is the elonian skin. I think they should change the elonian skin to Jedi Lightsaber or something. Since they changed the elonian version of the Ceremonial Spear to Solemn Spear when they introduced the DAW Ceremonial Spear. Just makes a bit of sense to change it.

Does that even fit in the trade window? And sure it does work, but I reckon there's no reason not to change, and good reasons to change.

/signed, it's annoying when a Fiery Gladius drops in NF and it's the wrong kind of fiery. It has even a scamming aspect since the difference between the two is not that apparent in the trade window, and if you didn't have one before you'd notice that it looks like a gladius and the name says 'Fiery Gladius' so it must be ok, right? Well, too bad, you just got swindled (hasn't happened to me since I farm my own stuff but it's a completely feasible scenario).

/signed, I had never thought about that before but that could get pretty annoying for someone trying to sell it. and i doubt it would be difficult to do, but i know next to nothing about programming so thats just speculation

I'd make easier to trade it.

It's a minor fix, but it would be helpful to avoid confusion.

in the trade window the image icons for both blades are different, the fiery one (on fire) looks like it is on fire, the other looks like a blade

signed non the less, i have been thinking about this for a while.

You're assuming that the prospective buyer has seen a real Fiery Gladius before to be able to tell the difference. Even either of the wikis don't show the inventory icon so that one could educate him/herself prior to the purchase. Besides, since many in-game items share inventory icon (Althea's Ashes anybody?) people usually focus on the description.

This potential scam is even more sinister since it is practically unreportable. The scammer did sell an actual 'Fiery Gladius' - at least by name, it just wasn't what the buyer had in mind.

They've already changed other weapon names, no reason not to change this one I guess.

If a fiery gladius drops, then it's the fiery gladius skin. A regular gladius can't drop with a fiery mod.

Why would someone buy a weapon they've never seen before?

Also, I must say, if you can't tell the difference between a sword and a sword on fire, there's something seriously wrong.

Well my personal experience is this...

A gladius dropped for me, gold R9. I id'ed it and it was a Fiery Gladius (the mod) For some reason I must not have been thinking about it properly because I got so excited that I was thinking I had a fiery gladius! XD

5 minutes later after I put it on, the wave of disappointment comes over me

I got one just last week (regular gladius with a fiery mod, that is). Was max, rare and r9 as well, just missing the pizzazz.

Let me rephrase that question: "Why would someone buy a weapon whose inventory icon they've never seen before?" Beats me ... maybe they want to buy one because they don't have one?

I've had swords drop with fiery mods on plenty of times, not sure where that info came from Arkantos?

If it's confusing people enough to request a change, I see no reason not to. A sensible and very simple suggestion.

I see this as part of the 1 skin -> 1 name, 1 name -> 1 skin idea.

The Fiery Gladius and the Gladius are not the same, yet they may be named the same when the Gladius has a Fiery mod.

The Fiery Gladius should be renamed to something else, like Burning Gladius or Flame Gladius.
