If you've played more than 1 PvE character/class, which was your favorite?
Laraja
The question is actually a bit longer and there's a reason for it besides just to start a discussion.
If you've played multiple character classes fully through the end of the game (doesn't matter which, NF, Prophs, EoTN, Factions) which character class appeared to be the most effective for PvE and which was your favorite? Which character class was your least favorite and seemed to be the least effective for you? Which character class seemed to be the most versatile.
I'm close to completing Prophecies with an Ele nuker and kinda playing around with what I what to take through next and would love to hear experiences with different classes. I also have NF and Factions installed. I'm about 3/4 of the way through NF with another Ele nuker. I seem to be stuck on fire nuking eles so would like to try something different.

Most effective and fun for me was the Warrior, as it has been it nearly every RPG. My favorite is always the "up there in yo face" class, and the Warrior fits the bill perfectly. Plus, heavier armor is always awesome.
Least effective and fun for me was the Elementalist. Never been a fan of casting spells, only in a few select games.

my favorite would have to be Monk, they are the most versitile class in the game imo. My second favorite is dervish, such a fun class!!!! I love the feel of wielding a scythe and hacking my opponents to bits.
in order for me
1) Monk
2) Dervish
3) Necromancer
4) Paragon
5) Ranger
6) Elementalist
7) Warrior
8) Ritualist

Agreed, Necros are probably the best all around PvE class.

my favourite for me was taking my ritualist through factions (my rit is also the character i have spent the most time and money on) but its a bit of a merge class, and not very easy to get into a party unless you heal, which i dont specialise in >.<
my most useful class for me was my SS necro, or my ele nuker..
i love the paragon too
wow, in the time it took me to post that, 5 people replied O.o

Fire The Nutter
I made an Ele first of all but stopped around post searing, not much further, then made my Ranger.
Struggled to start with but once I found my feet I went on to complete all campaigns and id now say hes my primary.
That said ive now gone back and made
Warrior
Monk
Ritualist
Necro
Paragon
Loving the Warrior now, Ele im loving too and the paragon, all for different reasons. Each class has its own abilities its just a case of getting used to how to play that class as Ele had me stumped for a long time but im now v.happy with it too

The most fun for me was a ritualist. I loved them. I've also played a monk and a sin through factions, but meh... Not as much fun as a rit <3
Btw, you do know you can switch campaigns with your ele, right? It seems kinda pointless to have 2 ele nukers.

I have fun with all of my characters (have one of each minus Assassin and Mesmer).
My warrior is my "main". I've beat all the campaigns with him plus started vanquishing and farming a bit.
Other than him, the other characters get played when the mood strikes. Most recently I've been playing my monk to see how a back liner character works (and to test a few things). He's lvl 7 and about to beat prophecies using just henchmen.

As a couple have already said - Necro is the most versatile class and a blast to play.... Minion Bomber FTW!!!!!!!!
I personally love my Warrior, not as versatile but extremely effective and enjoyable.
I don't care for Monk, but I've never been very fond of healing classes in any game....
personal preference
1 Warrior
2 Necro
3 Mesmer
4 Elementalist
5 Assassin
6 Ranger
7 Paragon
8 Dervish
9 Ritualist
10 Monk

I've extensively played 5 classes, with all 10 professions represented in either a primary or secondary.
Here's my take on them:
1. Ritualist/Elementalist. My ritualist is by far my favorite class. Not only is she the most versatile (e.g. she can go full offense, full healing, passive offense, etc.), she's also the one character that can solo almost everything in the game without heroes or henchmen. Too bad she likely won't reincarnate in GW2.
2. Necromancer/Mesmer. My necro is by far my most powerful character, with the ability to steamroll most PvE areas without much effort.
3. Warrior/Monk. My whammo is the character I spoil the most, as he's my "first born" and simply has the best toys. He also is my party guy, attending all special events.
4. Ranger/Paragon. Incredibly good for a versatility standpoint, although his "hit and run" style kind of gets old after a while. A nice change of pace character.
5. Dervish/Assassin. The current character I'm playing with, and one of the most frustrating to master. Plowing headfirst into mobs and destroying them with powerful AoE and Scythe attacks (especially when I shadow step into them...that's fun) is fun initially, but kind of frustrating later in the game. I guess I just need to practice more with her before she'll move up the chain.

Shadowlance.
For me it's the PvE Ritualist. It is such a versatile class. Depending on the mood I'm in and what build I feel like playing, I can be a healer, a buffer, a spirit spammer, a front-line attacker, or other roles. I like the Necromancer and Paragon too, so I usually let my Heroes take those roles.
Shadowspawn X
Ranger definitely the most fun to play. I played one exclusively the first year of the game and had a blast. Made a mesmer and ritualist the next year and they are both amazing, but the ranger was the best.

Thanks for all the responses. Especially to Jetdoc, that was the type of response I was hoping to hear. Details without too much details. I have my Melonni hero set up as a D/A with shadow step. If I were to play that class it's probably what I'd do.
I did try a Rit/Me in Factions, but got frustrated with it, probably because I just needed to be patient and learn to play that class. I'm so tuned into the fire nuking ele that it's the default easy route for me. I know the build, I know the energy management, that's why I ended up with two. I loaded NF and because I play eles it was the easiest character class for me to breeze through the game with.
I did try a ranger, and I like her because she can use a longbow to shoot out of her aggro bubble to pull very specific groups. That's pretty friggin' handy.
I also tried a Necro and although extremely cool in the highest way, to be effective you really have to PAY ATTENTION, whereas with my ele I can be lazy. Just make sure I back up if I look like I'm going to get mobbed, watch my energy and nuke the crap out of things.
As for warriors, I'm so used to playing an ele that I get nervous if I have to stand next to something and fight it face to face. LOL. Same with Dervish. It's weird, and it's just a game so I have to get over it.

My necro replaced my warrior as main char. But I had to wait till Factions, I love the pig tail hairstyle of my necro.
jbsdoll
Monk! I love the power of healing and keeping the party alive and the challenge of having to be on your toes at all times.
black7hought
Monk is my favorite, Warrior is a close second but you can't deny that monks seem to be the most versatile class in the game.
Sir Pandra Pierva
monk atm.
but it was paragon for a little while
and before that and probolly will be. Warrior.

9) Assassin
10) Dervish

My favorite character is my ritualist. I love her. I found that for effectiveness, I do better on my monk. I just get grim satisfaction out of monking.

The Ranger class will always be my personal favorite.
That's why I made a Bow Rit.

Warrior is my favorite PvE class, other than dealing nice damage and buffing your party with armor bonuses (I used to carry Watch Yourself but it when to hell so now I use SY). I beat Proph such a long time ago that I never got to use SY and D-slash to power it and perma-kd but still warrior was an awesome profession.
Second would be ele, but I have found that in some places they are very inneficient.
Necromancer was by far the least enjoyable profession for me. Other than running around with a MM or use an SS necro (or other curses builds) really I didn't get to do much. TBH in PvE I like seeing big numbers.. this is ironic because I love playing necro in PvP.

I prefer me warrior/ele. I love that i can tank and cast, doing double damage. Least fave: mesmer..they suck as primary...ok as a secondary
