Recently some jerks have been creating Guru accounts for the sole purpose of spam. Once, a bot posted some porn links on the Necromancer discussion page and today when I signed on I had some spam from Aiden56 waiting from me in my PM box.
Any ideas on how to stop these people?

Have the administrators ever thought of having Guru removed from search engines such as Google?
A lot of bots find their way to sites and forums through search engines.
The only downside would be that Guru might become less popular, which means less income from Ads and subscribtions.
But if the botting situation runs out of hand then you should really consider removing yourself from Google and sites alike.

I think this is a guide on how to remove your site from Google.
Guild Wars Guru is shown as the 8th result in Google when searching for "Guild Wars" thus attracting bad, but also good attention.

Uhhhh, that would be like driving my car without tires. Google is our largest source of traffic to this site. I like the thinking though, but the annoyance of some ad spammers doesn't really justify taking us out of search engines. And actually....
well crap we dropped to #5. We used to be #2, have to fix that. Interesting that your search shows #8 as well.

dumb idea I know .
but is there any way of stopping them from posting by not giving them accounts automatically? I mean lots of sites you have to be approved before you can post ( yeah I know it means lots of work for someone), but it would stop them from posting.....
or a nice waiting period before you can post...or your first post cannot be a new thread....
just ideas (and yes I would help you out if you needed extra people for the approved only idea....I seem to have lots of time right now).
