I tried using the contig in the cmd window to defrag the Gw.dat file but it keeps saying access is denied.

The whole "Contig v1.54 - Makes files contiguous..." thing pops up but after that it says "access is denied"

is it really worth defragging the Gw.dat file or can I just ignore it?

I rubberband sometimes and lag gets bad sometimes.

You have to run CMD as Administrator. Just go to the start menu and type cmd in the search panel and right click the icon and that will work. I had the the same thing happen to me.

Some people claim defragging solved all their lag issues. Others haven't noticed much of a difference. I'm in the latter group.

Lag happens.

For me it wasn't worth it, but if you can get it to work with a little more effort, it might be for you. Let us know!

When I did it I only had 1 frag so it was pointless for guild wars but it worked for other games I play

why not use the vista disk defragment by right clicking on the drive? It works for me.

AusLogics Disk Defrag works well too. The makers of CCleaner have Defraggler but it does not work well at all, it often takes 4-8 passes or more to fully defrag.
