Okay, I've read you lvl to 20, which is not a big deal, but my question is once I complete GW: Prophcies can my char transfer to factions or do I need to create a new char?

Yes they can. you can take a quest from the skills trainer in Lion's Arch which will let them travel to the Canthan continent...

And it's the same for all chapters and EoTN, there's a quest that'll lead you there =)

You don't even have to finish a campaign in order to travel to another campaign. The requirements are pretty basic.

1. You must own that campaign and the gamekey must be added to your account.

2. You have to reach a "port city" in your character's native campaign.
- Lion's Arch
- Kaineng Center
- Kamadan. (Well you have to progress a bit in NFs story before Kamadan becomes a port city for you)

Once you reach a port city, there will be quests available in those cities that will transport you to far away lands. You'll join the campaign's storyline sorta in the middle with foreign characters.

There is no need to finish Prophecies first, just as soon as you reach Lion's Arch, there is a quest for you called 'Mhenlo's Request' given by firstwatch Sergio. However, you must owe the factions campaign combined with the account on which you have Prophecies. Then, you will find yourself in Factions' port city, Kaineng Center.
