What new version? The expansion Eye of the North? If you Pug in PvE you will need it for one reason only.

Basically, yes. Especially since you can find it now for less than $20 if you look. It has the repeatable dungeons with decent rewards, skills like the aforementioned ursan blessing and mindbender, and also raptor farming which is probably the fastest way to make money (especially on special drop weekends)
