I thought of this after an incident today while deleting bonus items from my inventory, and accidentally deleted a monumental tapestry......Needless to say i was kinda pissed, as i gotta fork out the cash for another one, but it got me thinking, Whats the Stupidest item you have trash canned or merchanted in GW?
Also, my most /ragequitnotplayGW moment was putting an attunement rune over a Superior Vigor rune. now this may not seem like much, but this was in my noob days when i saved for MONTHS to get that rune.
Anyway i hope there are others like me, and i want to say that you are not alone.

i personally havent done anything stupid in a long long time, though back in the day i put a sup rune on my starter armour (dont ask) and then couldnt get it off again, so that was 60k down the drain. and there was that time i spent 100k on keys i didnt want, i thought the merch value number went to zero after you bought in bulk. needless to say, it doesnt.
A guildie of mine merched a r9 pyroclastic axe, and someone else i know deleted two torm weps when they were worth alot thinking they were the bonus items he was trying to get rid of.

Not sure I'd call it the stupidest thing I've deleted, but the only things I've deleted that I regret are a number of 15k armors due to space issues.

Nothing much which I deleted accidentally. But a couple of deletion in the past which I feel wasteful now:
A couple of characters with 15k armor were deleted back at prophecies and factions where character slots were limited. (war, monk, mesmer, ele, ranger)
Couple of warrior 15k armor deleted/salvaged to make space for newer, better armor.

When i first started GW my friend gave me 100k cause he used to buy lots of gold online. So i was one of those newbs and i thought i had lots of money. First char i made was a W/N, totally rocked plague touch + soul feast. He had 15k gladiator armor (prophecies days) and i realllly wanted to make a W/Mo for vigorous spirit. I was so stupid, i didn't even know you could switch secondaries at the time at GToB, so i deleted it and remade him.
He would almost be 3 years old if i'd have kept him. >;[

Umm, I don't think I really ever deleted anything....It sucks to be me....I can never make money in any game....I only have one piece of 15k haha.....I can't even fathom having 400k Anyway, hmmm I might've asked a few stupid questions though

I didn't delete/merch anything really expensive so far as I've always been quite careful, by using stoppers in my inventory and not merching stuff too fast and double-checking the stuff that I am about to delete.

I went to delete a character, so i took the time to clean off heroes, sold all runes, and salvaged armor to mats. I started talking to someone in guild chat while i put the mats in storage. Seeing empty inventory and a break in the convo I told him "brb". Proceded to deletion, and jumped on my main to help my friend. Low and behold I forgot to deposit the gold I had sitting on her.

I've been lucky about not deleting things of value... but when I was still a complete an utter noob, I remember doing a quest called "Cities of Ascalon," for which the reward was a certain -50hp cesta. My first second and third thoughts about this were "why would anyone want a crappy offhand that takes away 50 health!?" and so I merched it. Maybe not a big loss, but as only 3 of my 10 chars are prophecies born (1 being perma pre) it means I can only have one of those magical 55 making cestas!

There used to be a Hidden Box in The Snakes Dance before nightfall came. That Box would drop any weapon in the game (including nightfall items), so when done MANY runs i got a golden ritualist weapon and accidently sold it to merchant ((, I got my crystaline from that chest also xD.

I recently got back from a long break and had some ecto ressources back from the days when I farmed UW all day (no nightmares, prot bond worked etc).
Well, I thought that selling those ectos would be a good idea to get cash fast for stuff I could need while playing through the new expansions. Yes they were new for me since I had only proph when I left. Furthermore ectos ranged between 9 and 10k before I left GW so 4.5-5k sounded to me like they got pretty much common.
Sooo I found a buyer for 1 stack of ectos for 4.8k each. Had 2 stacks + some single ectos left total. We decided to meet in Temple of Balth ID 1. Once there he told me that he needs an hour to get the gold from a friend...unfortunatly I had the ecto on my PvP char already since I HAed a bit before and thought we would start the trade right away. Well I decided to go back to HA to play for an hour.
I rerolled.
And one might think I learned my lesson back than...I deleted 5 ZKeys today. 10 minutes after buying them for balth faction on my PvP char
