An Unusual Trading Experience
poasiods
So, I was trying to take advantage of this new gold sink called Zaishen Keys. I went over to Kamadan to see if there were any potential buyers, and there was this one guy at the top of the trading list (meaning he put himself up there forever ago) buying them for 5k each.
First, I thought it was little strange that he was still buying them for 5k after having been there for such a long time, but then, I figured some people can actually afford it. I thought he might have been away from the computer, but he wasn't, as a trading window opened up when I asked to trade with him.
I put my Zaishen Key in the window and the guy just sat there without doing anything. I whispered him to confirm he was still buying Zaishen Keys and there was no reponse.
After sitting there for good 30 seconds, all the sudden, my mouse starts freaking out. Basically, it was zoning/popping up and down by itself. It felt like how some old games tend to freak out graphically if some Java program started running in the background. I thought maybe my mouse has a strange angle with the mouse pad but it wasn't and I don't recall my mouse ever doing that. I got suspicious and exited out of the trading window and the mouse fixed itself.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Am I just being paranoid?

Do you have a wireless mouse? I used to have one and experienced that type of behavior quite frequently.
I doubt the incident was connected to Mr. Kamadan, though.

It's wired. I can't seem to recreate what it was doing there now.

My mouse does the same thing. Its just how it goes, nothing to worry about

I don't think there is anyway he can hack you by just opening trade... is there?
And yes, optical mouses like messing with you by making strange movements all of the sudden and then acting normal again.

HawkofStorms
Yeah, wierd coincidence, nothing more (unless we get repeat confirmation of this story, but I doubt that type of hack could exist).
Taurucis
My old laptop has that problem with the touchpad, if you even press the laptop case the wrong way the mouse pointer freaks out.
It's not a problem with Guild Wars, it's probably a hardware issue.

Its called Psychokinesis. Beware

The optical mice freaking out is because of a hair/fiber getting infront of the sensor >_> It sucks.

PLAYERS TRADING ITEMS AND GOLD AMONGST OTHER PLAYERS DOES NOT EQUAL GOLD SINK!
Sorry it just annoys me when people call it "omg such a gold sink". No gold is being sank. Only faction.

Weird or "very good" chances of trades in top of trading list are afks or someone trying to lure... well... lets forget what type of person he trying to lure ...
Shadowfox1125
If you go to Tolkano in Temple of Balth, people will go up to you and either put up 5k or an Ecto onto the trade screen.. even if you didn't trade your Balth faction for a Z Key.
STALKERS.
STALKERS.
A Poet Named Virgil
I think by gold sink he was referring to people who pay money for keys and don't use faction, cough cough.

If an optical mouse, this has happened to me on an old mouse pad, it gets shiny from use. To test this grab a clean sheet of white paper, if it stops its your pad. Normally some dish soap, hot water and a vicious scrubbing will fix it, or replace the pad. If you do scub it , for gods sake, let it dry before using it.

reminds me of Diablo 2 a few years ago

Thats weird I experienced exactly the same thing with my mouse yesterday and it hasn't happened before...Only difference was I wasn't playing GW lol. Anyway, if this IS a hack (which I doubt), I wonder if it has anything to do with the hacks going on atm where the hacker uses all the Z keys...hmm...
Wtf Its A Monk
My guess is that you were using an optical mouse if so then its a normal thing after you have had the mouse for a while the dust can effect it in that way.

Sometimes a speck of dust gets in the way of an optical mouse.

.............The Zaishen keys are not a gold sink in any way shape or form.
A gold sink in guild wars is a NPC that takes a players money for said item. once this is done that money is gone.
what the Zkeys are are players selling to players or a Bfaction for key or reward points for keys.
poasiods
Okay, okay, I misused the term 'gold sink.' Seemed to make sense to me at the moment.
The thing is, I tried to set my mouse straight, thinking it was in a bad angle or anything, but I couldn't seem to fix it by adjusting my mouse's position in any way. My account seems okay and the epic 13k saving I have is still intact. If someone did actually get into my account, they'd probably left it there in pity.
I guess it really could be just my mouse freaking out. I suppose it'd be logically to let this thread die unless someone else experiences something similar to this and posts it here.

Ye, same here. And sometimes when I want to press a link ... the mouse suddenly moves to that cute little X in the upper right corner and closes my window.... has happened in GW as well, lol..
It was definitely your optical mouse.

Optical Mice don't work on black surfaces as well as on others. I had a mousemat with black stripes on it...if I left the mouse on a stripe by mistake, it would freak out and start whizzing all over the show.
Other than that, no idea ^^

My touchpad on the other hand is a whole other story
Can the person who spoke about the Diablo stuff pm me the details about that hack? Just out of curiosity. Np if you don't feel like it though ^^

I like to call this problem a "mouse spaz"
Happens to me all the time, I usually have this happen to me once a week but my optical mouse is a little older so theres bound to be some problems. Its not a big deal in a game like GW unless you're in some really intense PvP. I remember back in my counter strike days the mouse spaz would always seem to happen at the worst times and suddenly I'm dead.
As others have stated above, its simply an optical mouse problem nothing to worry about. Clean off your mouse pad and maybe wipe off the area where the laser is on your mouse and you should be alrite.

Why are you selling keys in Kamadan?

I actually folded a piece of paper around my mouse mat in order to get rid of the weird mouse movements. It doesn't handle strong colour/tone differences well :P

Hmmm, someone remind me never to buy an optical mouse. I like my old fashioned ball better I think.

Wait a sec I had the same thing happen 2 days ago in Temple selling Keys and just put it down to "I need to clean me mouse"
That trade never went ahead as I couldn't control the pointer the guy didn't say nothing either.
I still think it was just my mouse being weird as I have had a few trades after that no problem.
Wired optical mouse if that helps.

I'd like to point something out here:
an optical mouse that jump on you sometimes acts as follows: it just "jumps" to a different place on your screen, but YOU CAN STILL CONTROL IT! So if it jumps, you just move it back to where you need it, and that's all.
if your mouse movement was uncontrollable, i.e. even if yuo move the mouse, it moves in different ways, then imo, that's something completely different, and sounds fishy to me. If that was the case, you should report it to Anet.
Can you please be more specific on what your mouse did?

i have to agree with Sjeng, i went through ALOT of mice, and got rid of my last 10 because of this problem. i had to work alot in photoshop and a jumpy mouse is bad news when you have to separate pixels from each other...
the mouse would sometimes slide to 1 direction then jump and stop, or would jump to a random location. the most possessed mouse i ever had would slide to one side, then go up a few pixels and would continue its slide, until i would move it manually. as soon as i would move it it would jump and then behave normally again. that one was wireless and it was my last wireless mouse ever lol
my mouse pad has a black writing on it and it is not related to mouse misbehavoir since i have been using an optical mouse for a while now and it doesnt seem to have any problems with the black writing, it only goes crazy when i put it on my glass desk... lol
the only time i couldn't control the mouse when it would start jumping randomly all over my screen for a long period of time was when my father went into my PC from his and i forgot he needed to do it, so i was trying to fight with him over the mouse... then he came in my room and asked wtf..
to OP: do a virus scan and a spyware scan ASAP, it seems like the D2 hack or could be worse
[EDIT] you might wanna chec out this thread as well: http://www.guildwarsguru.org/forum/s...php?t=10288888
there are a big increase in hacked accounts recently.

Agree with Sjeng, if the mouse was jumping or moving slow in one direction then could be dust or something. If the mouse seem to take on a life of its own moving in multiply directions sounds like what I do when I take over people's computer at work, they hate it. I am kind of paranoid so I see shadows moving everywhere. Check to ensure you have remote assistant not check (turned off) unless you use it on a home network. If you use it one a home network ensure you are using strong passwords, firewall, etc...
Why buy Z-Keys there when GtoB has more of a market? If had only opened a trade window with him then it could be explained as AFK since I believe most power traders are afk (wife does it) and gw beep when someone pm's them.
Another reason is because they could be trying to identify who has Z-Keys.
Again I am just paranoid.

Well dunno about the Op but mine didn't "jump"
it sort of drifted all over the trade window and sometimes out of it
but moved back into trade window I just had no contol of it.
Guess I could report it as I always screen shot trades But still think it was a mouse problem as I haven't had any more problems.

You've got a problem with your mouse, everyone stop being so paranoid.
